Post a pic, Jav. I'm starting to feel the pull of a button box. At first I was like, "$100+ for some buttons? Yeah right!" But every time I reach over in the dark and count "F1, F2, F3, F4!" to bring up my pit box, I get a little closer to pulling the trigger. :)

You can always start with a cheap numpad for a button box. I have mine attached with velcro to where I used to have my G25 shifter mounted:

Yup, for real or so I hope anyways.. I'm 18. Cool photo! The DDT track is still pretty cool.

What a great opportunity, racing at 18. Good for you Mac, You remind me of another iRacer that has started his career at a young age and is fast becoming a great race car driver. No doubt you have heard of him, Joey Hand.

I have followed his pro career for many years now and watch a couple of his races in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. His website Here

Does anyone no where I can get little stickers to label my buttons?

I bought mine at Staples, it is similar to this one

Dunno, seems to be bugged. Max rooms of no more then 20 in hosted I think.

Thank you sir 👍. However, I'm just barely getting started and I don't even know how I'll do at Skip Barber, but I'm hoping for the best.. I'm sure most of you know just how hard it is to get into racing on any level. My goal is to complete Skip Barber and learn the cost of what I can in the 3 days and go from there.. Then hopefully do a few club races and who knows from there.. This might not even turn out but I figured it was worth a shot. My family is well off but were far from rich so I'm trying to make the most of what talent I may have and I'm trying to male as many connections as I can on my journey.. Sorry for clogging up the thread. ..

I certainly don't think you're clogging up the thread, I enjoyed your short story when you got back from your previous trips to skip and Mosport :)

You are a very lucky guy, I would love to had that chance in general to attempt racing. I will enjoy hearing more.

I know I tend to post alot about wheels but is there really a huge difference in the wheels like DFGT and G27 or do I really need to skip to something else that won't break the bank? I'm more over the dead spots I get on tracks like Indycar/Indy have very little feeling for me, and anything with long straights. It makes me nervous.

Good to hear  I don't recall the Mosport story though..

Ugh I'm fuming my pc decided to delete everything. And now have to reinstall everything that I've lost. So everything from iracing=gone all my games=gone :(

All your stuff for iRacing should still be there, just re-install it.. I'll probably end up putting up a hosted practice session on Limerock in the MX-5 tonight and tomorrow night in preparation for the racing school next week, it won't help that much but any experience counts I guess... You guys are welcome to join in if you want.

Right okay so I've got everything back well mostly. However before I use to play at around 90fps now it's only saying I'm getting 32fps this is really noticeable and driving me nuts!

You nailed it, Skip Barber will be a measuring stick for you. I'm sure you will do just fine Mac. If nothing else, it is a great opportunity in your life. If you succeed all the better. If you don't, then at least you can say you gave it a shot.

It's amazing what an opportunity can do for a person, on an entirely different matter, I know if I wasn't given an opportunity back in 1988, I wouldn't have been able to purchase my 2 houses and pay them off.

Not all Canadians are awesome like me. :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly:

That's right, some are more awesomeness like me. :sly:

To be honest I have noticed an FPS drop since the latest build. From 80-90 down to around 50.

Ive had the same problem with iracing since the last build. The worst part was I bought a 7950 to replace my 6850 2 days before the build. I almost sent my 7950 back as faulty. Until I tried other games.

I will say for iracing going from a 6850 1gb to a 7950 3gb card resulted in a very small upgrade. Other games the change was dramatic. So if your thinking of upgrading just for iracing the high end cards do very little for performance in iracing.

Same from 120-150 ish to 60-90. On a ATi (AMD) 7770HD 2GB

No visual difference though as only 60hertz monitor :) just harder to record smooth footage :/

I've recently gotten back into the oval side of things. Still running the V8 exclusively on the road side, but needed something during the week to race. The C and B class fixed races fit that perfectly. Plus races go off every hour with splits. It's great.

Recently re-installed NR2003 and added the 2013 mod. Forgot how awesome that game was for its time and its still relevant 10 years later. Can really see the influence it has had on iRacing after playing it a bit. I would like to see iRacing add the pitcrews when doing a pitstop. Its awesome coming into the pits on NR2003 and seeing all the crews service the cars.

No fps drop here either. 100fps locked. Though, the Gen6 car does bring it off the 100 mark every now and then. Makes sense though. That car seems to be modeled at a higher standard than any others atm.

My string of bad luck on iRacing continues. Took a 2 week break thinking it would fix things. Get taken out by a driver who went off and got over zealous with the throttle in the grass and spun into me.

That's 5 races in a row where I've gotten taken out by other people. It's really frustrating as it was not this bad a few years ago when I got on. Everyone was able to race clean and hard. Now there's just too many people who don't know what to and what not to do.
