There's a poll for you.

What will come first:
A: Lotus 49 on iRacing
B: VW Scirocco on Live for Speed
C: the first GT on PS4
D: Hell freezing over

Definitely isn't B or C

About the Long Beach Track, it's actually going to be for sale in it's current state for $5. Won't be in any official series yet, but available for hosted sessions. Seems really weird to me.

Weird indeed, but maybe it's because they aren't able to implement DirectX 11 on iRacing yet and right now the full track would be too heavy.

Im beginning to think iracing may be having financial problems. They are looking to make money off a half finished track. They had a preorder for a car that was NOWHERE near ready for release. They both seem like ways they could produce income without bringing anything new to the game.

Yes I know iracing gave me a "in store credit" for my purchase so I could purchase something I may or may not of bought anyway. That still gave them a influx of money they would of others wise never got. This half finished track seems the same thing to me.

They might as well just scrap the 49 all together and work on what we already have.

I agree as it's a useless car that will be forgotten quickly IMO. I'd much rather the staff focus on the BTCC, HSV, and Z4 before a pointless car from 50 years ago.

Lol iracing is not lacking cash. They are backed by billionaire John Henry that owns the boston red sox. The tech tracks aren't for them to get more money. They said awhile back the whole concept is for real drivers to be able to practice on the tracks they will be racing on that's not in the service currently but ones they already have scanned. Prime example is when they let travis pastrana get access to California speedway before he raced there in nationwide. Since they have the track scanned but not finished he was still able to get laps in. I think that has just given them the idea for the tech track concept.

I was one of the ones that pre ordered the lotus as well. Like its been mentioned everybody that did got there money back either in cash or credits depending on how they paid and will get the car for free. I know its been a really long time now as I think this season is the 3rd season they have had it on the schedule, but in the end it will be a free car for a lot of us so I don't see why people are always complaining.

It doesn't but you are taking the test track concept wrong, the concept came to surface after Scott Sharp said on an interview that the ESM team was practicing on iRacing for the Long Beach race. From there the concept evolved and the community(me included as well as many others here) decided we wNted those back logged tracks in the service on some shape or form.

LOL,just because iracing is owned by a guy with money doesn't make iracing profitable.

I never said they were profitable. I just said they weren't lacking for cash. I make most of my living day trading stocks and the average person would be surprised how long some companies can go without a profit long as they can find financing one way or the other.

Like Jav said the concept came up with real pro racers wanting to put in laps before a big race. I remembered something about it being for long beach but I forgot who the driver was before Jav posted, but I do remember them helping out pastrana with california early. I think its a good move by iracing. We get tracks faster and long as the tracks are finished I could care less about all the stuff on the outside like grandstands and that kinda of thing. I do think its pretty funny cause a friend of mine came up with this concept about a year and a half ago one night on teamspeak.

I'm not aware of anyone who got cash back. My understanding was that it was a refund in iRacing credits only.

I know I paid with cash but I might have got back credits instead of cash I cant remember its been so long now. I spent the credit on other cars anyway so don't really matter as the lotus will still be free.

I don't think its a "pointless car", its a completely different from any other car we have.
But I do think it should be combined with the Lotus 79 into a multi-class series - although perhaps the speed difference is too great.

Maybe the road license could be split into tin-top and open-wheel licenses?

Arguably the HSV and Z4 are "pointless" because they don't bring anything vastly new in terms of driving experience from the Ford GT, Corvette and McLaren?
At least the Lotus 49 is a high-powered, mid-engined open wheel car with no downforce. There is no other car in the service like that except perhaps some of the oval cars.

The HSV isn't going to drive like anything in the service. It will be somewhere between the HPD and McLaren.

I'm just looking so much forward to this car is released ;) It's the reason for my subscription to iRacing ;)¨

We just need a few more Japanese tracks and of course Sepang and I guess I would be glued to my sim-rig ;)

So only the L49 and Skippy are getting the new tyre model...

Sucks when the FW31 guys have been promised a new tyre model due to the one being used at the minute absolutely useless for the F1 car.

Say goodbye to a lot of iGPS drivers iRacing...

Its pretty much exactly like the McLaren - a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, ~500bhp GT car with refined aerodynamics. Presumably the HSV produces a little more downforce but I'd hardly call it nothing like the McLaren...at least not when we are talking about the Lotus 49 being a bit more unique to drive.

I wish they would get more European and Asian tracks for me then! Lol. It's still a cool concept and I'm glad that iRacing will be doing this service. Although I hope we get some sort of discount to the full track when it is released if we send reports back of glitches or things of the sort.

The HSV brings a completely different car to the service. I can't think of any car with 500 HP, 1100KG's, and tons of downforce to the service. It's a much faster car than most people think.

Let me put it this way. At Motegi, my Formula Renault is about 3 seconds faster than a FIA GT3 Spec car where as a GT500 is about 4 seconds faster than my Formula Renault. At a track like Fuji. The results are very similar. 1 second faster than a GT3 where the GT500 is around 8 seconds faster than a GT3.

I know right!

The HSV is not mid engined.

When the pre-orders where canceled everyone got their money back and will get it for free once released.

Not really, Super GT cars are pretty much like the current P2 cars in regards to speed and handling, even faster than the DTM machines. Super GT GT500 are by far the fastest GT cars ever made(they are more prototypes than GT in reality).

I agree I wish they would to lol. I played so many bike games like motogp and sbk along with GT and F1 before getting into iracing so the European tracks are what I know. Hopefully with this tech track concept they can get more euro tracks.

Im not sure what they would do about the discounts but I do know they said if a tech track had enough interest that they would finish it out and if we already had it I think you would just have to pay $10 for the completed track after paying the $5 of course. That's the way I understand it anyway.

Oh yeah I know that. I pre ordered myself right when it was announced and got the money back. What I was talking about earlier was that I remembered I payed with cash through paypal but but I couldn't remember if I got back the actual cash or they just gave me credits. Pretty sure I just got the credits back which have been used by now of course to buy other cars that have came out like the Gen 6 cup car.

On a side note got my $5 yearly credit yesterday :). They are a bit off on the dates though as I signed up middle of August so got the credits month early. Was the same last year if I remember right. Ive been on iracing 2 years now. Crazy how the time flies.

I just looked at my PayPal account and I was refunded my money back to my PayPal account. Just look at your iRacing account for which you ordered the Lotus, there is a PayPal order number. Mine was ordered 2012-09-27
