polarbear345That's not what anyone wants to see...
Shall we start a gentleman's bet as to which will come first?
RUF or Lotus 49?
I think hell will freeze first.

Zathra5_There's a poll for you.
What will come first:
A: Lotus 49 on iRacing
B: VW Scirocco on Live for Speed
C: the first GT on PS4
D: Hell freezing over
About the Long Beach Track, it's actually going to be for sale in it's current state for $5. Won't be in any official series yet, but available for hosted sessions. Seems really weird to me.
They might as well just scrap the 49 all together and work on what we already have.
Im beginning to think iracing may be having financial problems. They are looking to make money off a half finished track. They had a preorder for a car that was NOWHERE near ready for release. They both seem like ways they could produce income without bringing anything new to the game.
Yes I know iracing gave me a "in store credit" for my purchase so I could purchase something I may or may not of bought anyway. That still gave them a influx of money they would of others wise never got. This half finished track seems the same thing to me.
I don't believe until I see it.Tony GardnerLotus 49 will be in build next week. Dave Kaemmer putting up a blog about it today.
LOL,just because iracing is owned by a guy with money doesn't make iracing profitable.
Like its been mentioned everybody that did got there money back either in cash or credits depending on how they paid and will get the car for free. I know its been a really long time now as I think this season is the 3rd season they have had it on the schedule, but in the end it will be a free car for a lot of us so I don't see why people are always complaining.
I agree as it's a useless car that will be forgotten quickly IMO. I'd much rather the staff focus on the BTCC, HSV, and Z4 before a pointless car from 50 years ago.
The HSV isn't going to drive like anything in the service. It will be somewhere between the HPD and McLaren.

I never said they were profitable. I just said they weren't lacking for cash. I make most of my living day trading stocks and the average person would be surprised how long some companies can go without a profit long as they can find financing one way or the other.
Like Jav said the concept came up with real pro racers wanting to put in laps before a big race. I remembered something about it being for long beach but I forgot who the driver was before Jav posted, but I do remember them helping out pastrana with california early. I think its a good move by iracing. We get tracks faster and long as the tracks are finished I could care less about all the stuff on the outside like grandstands and that kinda of thing. I do think its pretty funny cause a friend of mine came up with this concept about a year and a half ago one night on teamspeak.
I don't think its a "pointless car", its a completely different from any other car we have.
But I do think it should be combined with the Lotus 79 into a multi-class series - although perhaps the speed difference is too great.
Maybe the road license could be split into tin-top and open-wheel licenses?
Arguably the HSV and Z4 are "pointless" because they don't bring anything vastly new in terms of driving experience from the Ford GT, Corvette and McLaren?
At least the Lotus 49 is a high-powered, mid-engined open wheel car with no downforce. There is no other car in the service like that except perhaps some of the oval cars.
I'm just looking so much forward to this car is releasedIt's the reason for my subscription to iRacing

We just need a few more Japanese tracks and of course Sepang and I guess I would be glued to my sim-rig![]()
Its pretty much exactly like the McLaren - a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, ~500bhp GT car with refined aerodynamics. Presumably the HSV produces a little more downforce but I'd hardly call it nothing like the McLaren...at least not when we are talking about the Lotus 49 being a bit more unique to drive.
When the pre-orders where canceled everyone got their money back and will get it for free once released.I know I paid with cash but I might have got back credits instead of cash I cant remember its been so long now. I spent the credit on other cars anyway so don't really matter as the lotus will still be free.

I wish they would get more European and Asian tracks for me then! Lol. It's still a cool concept and I'm glad that iRacing will be doing this service. Although I hope we get some sort of discount to the full track when it is released if we send reports back of glitches or things of the sort.
