44 cars in the Proto GT, qualified 8th and got through cleanly by span at Les Combes.

Avoided any contact but got caught up in the idiots who can control the car while trying to battle my way back through.

Race done after 5 laps.

No surprise that the guy who cause my crash was also the same person asking for a set up in the warm up.

It's deadly at a track with fast corners in HPD when people haven't practiced, I tried to pass and he literally darted across the track about 8 times through Poughon.

Was in the same race and was actually not doing bad, until there was an unexpected visitor at my house, so had to quit around lap 12 :( . Hopefully there's another full field tomorrow.

I tried to make sure to qualify, to not be caught up at the back between guys that don't even bother to practice first :)
My main problem is getting on the pace on cold tyres. I usually lose 3 or 4 spots during the first laps.

God COTA is infuriating, first race ive ever got DQd from because backmarkers are awful drivers. Im gaining on them atleast a second a lap and when i get to them they just block everywhere and the only way to pass around COTA is with stupid divebombs and its not possible to pass in the esses because of the stupid pyramids and 1xs everywhere:censored:🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

end rant...

Yeah, I did 4 races where I should have finished really well but didn't. Led the majority of laps in 3 different races but only got a P4 as a best finish. Just wasn't my week despite having some really good race pace.

I'll be missing the service for 3 weeks though :( I can't complain too much though. From my thread.

Finally got something put together for this year! Have to keep it a bit off the radar but, I will be competing in the next two Auto GP events in Monza and Imola with a possibility to run the rest of the series!

:)

Just did some practice in the Star Mazda at Mosport, and damn, what an awesome combo! You only really have to brake 3 times the entire lap! I had a huge grin the whole time, but I don't think I'd want to do a race. The practice sessions were mental.

Had quite an entertaining race at Cota this morning, GT3 Challenge using the Z4. Started from the pits and finished 7th, was running 4th but didn't save enough fuel and had to pit for a few gallons. 3 inc and a massive SR gain but it was pretty fun racing.

I had an interesting day, did the radical at brands hatch 6 joined, it was unofficial so 3 left I led the first part until hitting the wall half way through and we did a complete field invert by the end of the race when the other leader it the wall. Then I started at the back of a 20 car official SRF at the glen. finished 16th (no practice), then joined an unofficial mustang at oulton with 7 cars, 5 finished (it was my first mustang race in over a year) got up to the lead and blew it up with an accidental drop to first gear but it was fun even with a last place finish. Then joined an L49 race, 7 cars, went unofficial and everyone left. It was crazy hard to find an official series outside GT3 and if it's anything else not at the glen, good luck finding it to go official I guess unless you find the SoF time.

Edit: I gained a whopping .03 SR today! lol first time my SR has moved in over six months

DW12 is out. Had a quick go at Indy and it feels nice, brilliant sounds and a fantastic looking cockpit. Only in 500 trim at the moment but iRacing have provided a number of 500 setups, an oval set and a road set.

Looking forward to the weekend and looking forward to the road version.

So the ugliest ugly car is out and I decided to make it even uglier!

Gave it a go around Montreal in a hosted session earlier today and some laps at Sebring as well. Pretty hard to keep on track as the back just want's to break loose with the smallest imperfection on the road as soon as the boost comes on. Quite fun to drive actually, but it definitely needs a lot of refinement before it goes into official racing.

Your mistake was taking it to a road course. We can't talk about refinement and whatnot until we actually have the road version. The version we have is purely for the Indy 500. Barely any wing or anything so it will be a pig on anything other the 1.5+ mile speedways.

Was using a road setup, so it had proper geometry... Now, my question is... Are we getting the physics of the road car with the visuals of the oval car, or are we just getting what we see?

In the build we will get visual and physics of the road car, and the other two versions.

Even with a road setup right now you are racing the oval car, even on a road course.

Proper geometry yes, proper road car no. Look at the pictures I put into my post, no amount of geometry changes could counter that severe lack of downforce across the whole car. Try it at Indy with the 500 set. Feels fantastic.

As @polarbear345 said, we will get the road car with its own unique physics and aero in the next build for S3.

Thank's for the clarification guys, will definitely be looking forward to the Road physics update.

I'm stoked about the car. Waiting so long (even though I haven't had IR a year yet) for it and it looks to be worth it

Hey guys, new to this part of the forum. Been on iRacing for about 3 months now and been playing it on an "on and off" basis but recently i've been having fun playing it.

I'm currently on a D class license with a 4.50 SR for road racing which i think i'll be focusing more on but I'm struggling to escape the D class due to the fact that i still haven't purchased any extra cars and tracks and most of the series at the moment are at tracks i don't own (Well apart from the rookie Mazda Cup).

Just wondering on what's the "cheapest" way to progress up the classes. Ultimately i want to race the GT3/GT1 cars.

If you want one car to get you to what you want, buy the Ruf. It has a C license version that you can run the C license Ruf cup with as well as WSC, and there's a Ruf that runs the B license GT3 challenge. You can run the GT1 Vette once you get B license which is the proto/GT series. That's 2 car purchases and you can theoretically get to B. As far as tracks, Bathurst is run by every series pretty much. COTA is the flavor of the week right now, so it's a safe bet. Road America/Watkins Glen is another popular one. Road Atlanta is one of my personal favorites along with Mosport/CTMP. Those are some of the tracks run by multiple series that won't be money wasted with what you want to do :)

Thanks for the quick reply! My membership runs out next week too which sucks :( Hopefully i can find a good deal for existing members soon then i'll definitely consider buying some content and jumping into the RUF cup :)

It's May, so I don't know how the membership deals work. I bought a year on black Friday for $50. That's the deal you need. It's cheaper probably to buy 2 of the 3 month memberships (I think they're $30 each) then go get a year for $50 on black Friday which is in November. You may out a few days of membership before that day depending on when it falls, but 6 months is within a week of when that deal goes live. A year is $100 without discount which is more than the $60 for 6 months of time between now and black Friday.

all figures in USD btw

There is no way of avoiding the price though, when you finnaly decide you want to run a full season of whatever series its going to be a big upfront cost for all the tracks so always buy content in packs of 3s or 6s for the discounts.
