i hate fixed C street stocks. Cars that easy to set-up shouldnt need a fixed series.
Not really, one week I spend 3 hours dialing in everything, there are like 30+ settings. Then after a race I spent another 3 hours on the car setup. After that I couldn't finish worse than 2nd ( top split ) if I tried. It was a great setup with an, at the time, good average oval driver at a track I just did 3 hours practice on. Still I had done 3 hour practices in fixed series and never was that fast a pace relative to other very good drivers.

In oval even a slight one tenth advantage can be +3 or more grid spots and huge in a race ( with good drivers ). Now if I'm in a pack of inconsistent drivers I can get away with just "hitting my marks" and still get a top 5 with an OK setup.

So... With iRacing announcing today them being the title sponsor of the Nurburgring 1000 the rumors are getting stronger and stronger about them scanning the Nordshleife, some pictures have surfaced of the track in fact being scanned...
What do you guys think?

Who knows, but tony or Steve said they had a surprise...

Honestly, I think at the expo they will announce some stuff and we will get the Nurburgring at some point in time. Too many sims are getting it now for them to not make it in my opinion.

I could care less about the nordschliefe for iracing, racing would just be follow the leader and extremely boring since after 2 laps youll be all alone.

Yea I think the Nordshleife will be popular for the first week, then when everyone loses a heap of SR no-one will touch it again. Will be cool to hot lap in testing but don't think the racing will be all that.

I would at least like the Nurburg GP track though.

I'm just about to signup to IRacing for the first time and I have the opportunity to put someone down as the referral if I have there iRacing email address. They get $10 dollars credit from what I understand. No point letting $10 go to waste!!!

ring doesnt have to be on a weekly rotation to be worth it. Once a year 24 hour of ring with driver swaps is good enough for real life, and its good enough for me.

There's a three month for free promo right now, and I don't think anyone gets the $10 if you refer them when you sign up for free months.

The Ring should be fine for league racing. It will probably require me to upgrade my PC though, being that large...

gonna do the gtc hopefully better racers in that series
I've tried the Mustang and hated what the update has done to it. I also spectated a couple of GTC races and it was pretty poor. Not sure if the dark infield in last week's track was to blame or not, haven't decided if I want to race there.

I would actually want to race the ring in the GT3 series. I think it would make for a survival of the fittest kind of race. Similar to the real life races there. I'm really only saying this because my iRacing objective is always just to make it to the end of the race in one piece so, I would probably have a good finishing position :)

I never raced the mustang before the update but i dont know what your talking about it feels nice to drive apart from the steering linearity being a little weird. I did 2 GTC races and had no issues with dirty drivers and had one hell of a battle in the 2nd race i did with 5 other people.

I also hate how most racing game now think the ring is the end all be all of racing games where if you dont have that track its not a racing game, track is fun to hot lap but absolute crap to race. Same thing kinda applies to Bathurst seeing how you cant really pass on 3/4ths of the track if your smart of course.

I really see the Ring as the most popular track in the hosted side just as it was in the GT5 servers, while I would love to have it on the regular schedule I fear there will be many that will voice against it, but it'll be a hit on the hosted side no doubt. It would be nice if they did a VLN type series for us virtual Ring Rats!

I see it just being like how COTA was, everyone super excited for it, we race it once and forget about it. Although i do see Donington becoming popular.

Yea the difference is that Donington is awesome, and Cota is...(looking for something good to say)...new :)

I do agree that the Ring will be popular on the hosted side (didn't think of that cos I very rarely get a chance to do hosted sessions), but do see trouble in any official sessions.

Most of the newer tracks are more FPS heavy than the rest, i wouldnt think Donington would be very demanding but i dont get the greatest FPS there either.
I have no issues with Donington. 84 fps all around running stage 4. COTA isn't too bad, but it will drop here and there. New Phoenix isn't bad either. I don't have a particularly great laptop, but it does the job well.

On another topic, we'll have to do some testing for the IndyCar road at Watkins Glen soon :)

Just want to say hello!
I want to get from GT6 into real Simracing , now the special offer is the perfect chance :D

How long does it take until I can race after I signed up?

Depends on your download speeds and on how good you are at setting up things. There are a couple of GBs to download, and then you'd have to setup your wheel/display settings.
After that's done you can enter a race, but I'd advise against actually racing until you've spent a good deal of time on practice servers, got consistent and comfortable running a racing line, other lines you can be forced into, and practiced returning to track safely from the most common places to go off the track.

It'll be spa on steroids to framerates I bet.
They will most likely do it once DX11 is implemented which can't be that far behind driver swaps.

Man the HPD and Road America is an awesome combo to drive! :)

Has there been any talk of any official series that will run driver swaps...Like a official teams championship or something. Or do you think they'll only do driver swaps for special events ?

I would assume that it is only going to be for road warrior events at the beginning. Doing a standard season would be too difficult as peoples schedules would be hard to line up every single week, as well as the amount of signing up teams during the week would be less because there are teams rather than individual entries. It just wouldn't really work in my opinion.

First place that I drove the car when it first came out 3 or 4 years ago. Fell in love with it instantly. And am still in love with the car :)

I guess I was thinking they could maybe do like a short endurance championship, maybe something like 2 hour GT3 races. Pick a team mate and a car and sign up for the season, I would guess there would be quite a lot of us that could surely organise with one other person to do one 2 hour race a week. But the question is wether iRacing has the programmes (?) to handle something like this on an official level.
Edit..I'm sure they used to do Proto/GT races on weekends only, maybe something like that could work for a teams championship too ?

A little off track but sort of related.. I wish we had to nominate one official point scoring car in the GT3 series for a season, rather than swap between whatever car handles better for that particular week.

I guess this would be possible but, I can't see there being many entries and there would probably only have to be one or two races a week in order for that to work.

I said this before the GT3 mixed class series started. Everyone on the iRacing forums was so adamant about it for some reason. I guess people buy a simulator to treat it like an arcade game, I'm not sure.
