Hm, and why is that? Unless there are other car/racing games with Forza as the title from Turn 10?

Was Forza 2 superior to 3 or something? I welcomed the race rewind button by the way, but I was more into time trials so the rewind button was useless if you wanted a flawless lap record.

I have Forza 3 right here and the MS wheel and I disagree. Forza's tuning and customization is far better. Forza's menu's is far slicker. But the driving is much better in GT5. No weird sticky grass. No hidden traction control that makes spin out almost impossible.

Also I prefer the GT5 challenges. In Forza the race series were dull because you had that stupid replay button. If it's there it's impossible not to use it. In GT5 you curse and scream but you start again from the beginning and pray you get it right. It's so much more fun and rewarding.

That sticky grass is there to keep people from cutting the track. Something GT makes no effort to prevent. I do agree about the retry button. I used the hell out of that thing sometimes even though I kinda felt bad about myself for doing it lol. I don't know what you mean about the hidden TCS in Forza though. I actually find it harder to race in Forza with all assists turned off than I do in GT5. The soft racing tires in GT5 make it so I can floor it off the starting line in an 800HP+ car and only be spinning the tires for a second or two. I barely even have to feather the throttle while cornering in GT5 to keep from losing control. Although I must say that I have yet to drive a GT1 or an F1 car yet (because they cost ******* 5,000,000!)so that may be why. I know you have to be extremely careful in Forza 3 with your throttle control in R1 & most R2 cars or you'll spin out. So I don't really know what you're saying there.
I do agree that the driving in GT5 is unrivaled and the most fun I've ever had behind a virtual steering wheel. That really means a lot to me. I just wish the game itself was better and more thought out is all. Like why the hell does it cost me nearly 300,000 credits to keep my Racing Modified ZR1 in top racing form? I mean the chassis restoration of course. The car handles best with a fresh chassis restoration and it wears off EVERY FEW RACES EVEN WITHOUT CONTACT!!! It's stuff like this that drives me freaking mad. It would be impossible to make a good amount of money in any high end racecar if you also wanted to keep it in top racing form for every race. I mean do they have to fly the damn thing into orbit to perform a chassis restoration or something?! Why would it cost that much? I don't wanna sound like a pansy but I really do hope a future patch lowers the prices of the high end racecars and for the chassis restoration for high end racecars.

On a side note: I should have enough credits to purchase my dream car tomorrow! The Pagain Zonda F!!! I really do hope it's everything I ever wanted because I will be flat ass broke after I buy it but I won't care!! I will happily do some grinding in it to purchase the sweet Lexus IS F Racing Concept to complete the extreme class touring car championship.

I am VERY VERY disappointed. And I have posted in this thread twice already but the more I play this game the more things I discover I don't like about it.

For me the biggest thing is the career mode. It's not fun at all. I remember playing GT4 and that thing took half your life to complete and part of the fun was how much of a grind it was.

B-Spec is just.... No words can substitute my extreme frustration at how utterly stupid it is. Why on EARTH make it another whole part of the game? Are you serious? The exact same events again, and not being able to speed it up? Where is the fun in that? And I have to sit through that boring **** to complete the game? You have got to be kidding.

Career mode again. It is SO easy. The AI in this game is horrible, slow, and braindead. I lost count how many times I have failed license tests and challenges because THEY RAM INTO ME and yet I get a fail. ********, utter ********.

Tell me again why I should try and get licenses? Because they are worthless and pointless and a simple watse of time with this arbitary and useless level system.
I remember before in the older games I used to do the same events again and again to get money to supe up my car more.
Nope, now I'm just grinding for nothing but "experience".

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? I can't get over that.

I love the driving in this game and it's a great experience... When you're trying to set a lap record by yourself. And you don't have silly AI ramming you, getting in your way or driving like an old lady.

I agree and you forgot something "Standard Cars" how stupid they look and you cant change rims on them. Such a huge let down
 
You guys certainly have valid arguments. My friend (a fellow long-time GT fan) stopped by to try it out. He fell in love with the game. I love the game too, but I had to warn him about standard vs. premium, some crappy sounding cars, stuff like that. Hell, we were all warned about that stuff beforehand. He still thinks it's worth the purchase, as do I.

As much as I hate to say it, maybe this what PD needs- some pissed off real GT fans. While I love the game, I still want more out of a racing game which is why I've decided to buy a 360 specifically for Forza 3 and Forza 4. It's to the point now where GT and Forza actually complement each other.
 
This game sucks total ass as far as im concerned for the simple reason of the damage being a total trip into half-assed programming. When will KAZ figure out that Japanese people arent the only people who like racing games! I think he made an ok game, BUT he epic fails at making a awesomely great game because culturally he probably just does not understand what the many different audiences from around the world want in a racing sim. Look at the huge success of iRacing. They have a superb fan following! and a great physics and damage system! WITH REAL LICENSED CARS! Kaz just sucks at catering to the masses and instead made a game that he thought would be a "fun" racing sim. HE SAID REAL LIFE RACING AND GT5 ARE EXACTLY THE SAME!!!! BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

that just chaps my ass because you dont wall-ride another competitors car to win races, and you sure as hell dont expect to complete a race after said wall ride.

huge let-down. Gamestop can buy my copy back. consider my weekend wasted. looking forward to GT6 maybe 10 YEARS FROM NOW! MAYBE WITH INTERIOR VIEWS AND CHANGABLE RIMS!

btw just drop the forza gt5 crap already.

lol im just so heated about the issue. and since it isnt entirely innappropriate as all the threads seem to be about the same general topic, I am assuming that it isnt wrong, but if the mods would like to combine all the threads into one then so be it. until then i have a right just as anyone else. thanks.

For these kind of people Forza is a swear word. Do NOT use that horrible word, you wont get to GT heaven if you do.

Its sad...very sad. All you Forza haters might wanna try the game out first?

Also you might wanna learn about some real life car cultutre? Learn that the customization is a big part when you buy one. New/used dosent matter. You spend 60 000 dollars on a car then you want it exactly the way you want it. Nothing less.

And for GT5 being developed in... ehh you know what. Forget it, waste of energy.

I just go and make breakfast instead.
 
I've tried and tried to find enough to like about this game, but all the things they have done wrong or left out / removed keep bugging me. I've been a massive fan of the series but I'll stick to NFS:HP for now thank you.

GT5 will get returned to store tomorrow. Hope GT6 will be worth the wait.

that's what puzzles me. The Japan car tuning/customization scene is HUGE. That's where the street tuning first started. For a japanese dev to omit this is kind of a WTF moment
 
In another forum people wondered if Gt5 would be one of the highest rated games ever and I stated that would be impossible as there no way you can pleased all racing fans. No matter how you build a sim you will have people complain it does have this feature or it's too lean too much toward arcade or it lean to more hardcore,etc.
Just because some of us like Gt5 as a GT series and not as Forza 4 doesn't mean we hate Froza 2 or 3. I like both Forza 2 and 3 which has it good points as well as bad ones. I love to race anything form Iracing to NFS and even Mario Kart for time to time. I really didn't expect GT5 to be the next Forza... I already have 2 Forza this generation. Now i don't agree Froza series (nor the Gt series) is the god of all racing sim, far from it.
I'm sure in the future disappointing thread of a different game people will complain that "at least Gt5 did this right". Like I stated before I see this even in non-racing games forums.

There are soo many people returning it, I just can't believe it; even with how the game is. I understand it and this should be a wake up call to PD.

Really? I work at Gamestop and I've only seen 2 people return it. But then again, I guess that is high for a game that came out 5 days ago

Its great to see open discussion about the game that hasn't descended in to silly argument.
I've been around GT since the fist game and was really looking forward to GT5, like everyone else. And like everyone else I have really mixed feelings for the game.

Nobody out there can defend the game point blank, there are too many obvious flaws with it to defend it completely.
Over all I feel like the game is not complete, which is staggering considering the length of time its been in development. I don't think PD managed expectations very well either, they basically promised us perfection!
 
I loved gt5 at first, but the more that I play it, the more I realise it is not all that good of a game :(

Too much screen tearing, crap shadows, and cant explain it but some jaggy stuff on outline of all cars. Anyways atleast we have the game, waiting was the worst part...

Well i finally got my PS3 last night, excitedly i set it up, got on PSN. fiddled about and was giggling like a schoolgirl.

so I started up GT5, installed all 8b gigs of it, watched the intro out of respect for the 6 years wait. Sat there thinking "WTF is this all about?" while i liked it being long i was disappointed by the amount of time not focused on the game, GT3 had the most moving intro in my opinion, and this was complete garbage.

I thought ok no problem only an intro. Jumped in put the controls like FM3 (works for me) went to arcade jumped in a GTR '07 headed to Laguna Seca. waited for the loading.

So ok lets go, get out on the track thought "Feck this is bright" thought no worries LS is bright, went into the first corner completely fluffed it into the sand. "OoooH" i thought to myself, physics are excellent.

Then I started looking around, I found the follow camera awkward as it's locked to the rear of the car, rather than having some swivel like FM3 (I know i'm comparing but these features i've grown to love)

And this is when it hit me, the graphics while the cars are stunning, the backdrop is pretty average, and thats when i noticed GT5s weakness. While the models are excellent the lighting is extremely poor, the cars have those dodgey shadows we all know about, but the landscape has very little to no shadows the realism of the tracks are excellent but there recreation is very GT4 is quality.

While i'm enjoying the game, and the handling is a real challenge to FM3 i'm finding the visuals very lacklustre except for the premium cars of course.

So all in all, I'm happy with the 'Game' I'm not happy with the finish though.

There are always gonna be haters, works both ways. On consoel Gt5 IS the best sim, there is no denying that. As for forza, I had a 360 for 2 years, played it a fair amount, and it is GROSSLY over hyped by a few on here. it was well received because it straddled the line between arcade and sim, barely sim I myth add, with no car physics to speak of, braking and handling not near the quality of Gt5. It did some good things like customization, but that alone does not make a better racer.

LMAO, out of all the millions sold a lot are returning it? BS, you do not knwo that, every game stop here has no used copies to speak of and its selling like hot cakes.

If I choose to change down from 6th gear to 1st in Forza my gearbox and engine suffer damage. If I do the same in GT5 nothing happens. That's a fact too.

It's called common sense. You guys are making out like the gaem, is terrible and its being returned in droves, LOL, it has some issues., but its still a very good game and the only sim on PS3, get real here. its not an abomination you and a few vocal emo's make out to be,

Cool, forza is still not a sim with aids you cant turn off, no driving physics to speak off and not near as good breaking and handling. Point? good game, not really a sim.
