@speedthrill
I suppose you're the game dev / modeler /programmer guy ?
They could have added all the things they promised without a hit in performance.. they went over the top with the premium cars. To much "invisible/irrelevant" detail for no apparent reason.. It doesn't really show in a race. They basically had to limit everything else in order to make the game playable if it would be a full premium car race grid. For the ps3 they could have produced a far superior overall look and feel if they made some sort of compromise between premium and standard. That would have freed up more resources (both in dev and on the platform) for pretty much everything else they promised to include.
Then again I'm starting to sound like captain hindsight.
Also most issues will probably be fixed in time. Wouldn't really surprise me if they fixed some issues and then release a gt6 on the ps3 with all the features gt5 should have had and just more premium cars and the missing tracks. Then all those premiums are ready for direct importing to gt7 on the next gen. Where the details they offer will probably match the details in the tracks etc..
So the way I see it either they calculated in all the shortcomings with future titles in mind or its a cluster**** of honest mistakes in the pursuit of perfection. Imho its calculated in..
Finally someone with a mind in the thread that i can follow and support.
Yes!! Indeed i think the same as you, and the fault is the premium cars indeed. Details that most of us will never see are there, and in massive amount... Wich is "ground breaking", but for me that's what breaking thisgame into to much s*** like this thread.
If we would have gotten all normal cars with just a bit more detail generally..
They could've gone in total different directions...
Or like you say, add all in they promised. Problem is, mate, all those people whining around now about everything that's promised not being there, will get facesmacked in the future, like you say because off the updates...
But those people would also rant if there wouldn't be 200 premiums and all the rest was in, think about it... For those, the world is never good enough...
No, i'm just a modeler, but those premiums took aloooooooooong time to make if you count the people in PD modeling... Someone calculated it half a year ago around here somewhere, he was prety accurate in it...
But being a modeler, it's understandable for those 200 cars alone to work 4 years on a game, so programming ,writing physics engine, texturing, researching, racing, promoting, building,etc... 6 years is prety nice... In my opinion.
