PD make games, Sony sells them, so think who puts the pressure there. This is why I always think it's ridiculous when people blame Sony for pressuring poor Kaz/PD...
Sony had nothing to do with it. Sure they would have been putting pressure on PD to get the game finished, but they had nothing to do with the fact that what PD were producing was rubbish.
Its hardly unreasonable for Sony to expect a descent product within 5 years, especially considering the budget they had
Dont like the game? sell it then and stop moaning 👎 its only a game ... if you think you can do better then go do it yourself, we dont want to know really ... bye!
If you are working on a project and your boss want it before is finished the product never could be like you wanted.Exactly, PD are the ones doing the work, so they are responsible for the finished product. Sony just make sure it gets out on time and make sh#t loads of money off it
If you are working on a project and your boss want it before is finished the product never could be like you wanted.
As simple as this.
They would not be taking the risk of releasing an unfinished product without knowing that would be good enought to be competitive(making money). (Sony)But what if your expected to finish that product by a certain deadline, but you don't, the boss gives you a couple of extensions, you still don't, then they force you to release your "unfinished" product. At that point, you'd be pretty lucky to still have a job.![]()

That do not change the fact that given more time the project would be better and what you would expected to be. (PD)

Even with all the trash talk here no game is doing what GT5 have done as a complete package, probably they worked harder than any developer have worked before in a car game.Yeah but we're not talking a couple of weeks here, were talking over 5 years. GT5 does not reflect 5 years of work.
Besides, PD would have had a time frame at the beginning of the project, and they would (should) have developed a project plan with everything they wanted to achieve in that time.
There is no excuse for producing an unfinished product. There are three factors at work here: time, money, and scope. Balancing the 3 is the key to any successful project, something which PD clearly failed to do.
Sony would have set the time (and possibly the budget I'm not sure), so PD should have developed the scope of their project accordingly. They tried to do too much with the given time and budget constraints, resulting in a game which seems unfinished.
Even with the amount of content in GT5, it amazes me that this could happen with such a large budget and time frame
You can put as you want but Kaz is in a position below of Sony as a corporation, and GT is a product from Sony. It's obvious who have the final decisions regarding the product.Again the point is it's silly to try and make a distinction between Sony and PD... Kaz sits high enough in both that he can't really be "forced" to do something by the other becuase he essentially IS the other.
That's like saying your right hand forced your left hand to do something... you control both hands, there is no forcing, there is simply a decisions to act in one way or another.
What you are saying amounts to saying "Kaz put pressure on Kaz causing Kaz to release an unfinished product against his will".

Why? Tourist Trophy made them money. GT-PSP made them lots of money. GT5Prologue sold ridiculously well for what is basically a GT5 demo.
Here's a question for you all...
How much time do you think Kaz actually spends PLAYING GT5? You know, like you and I play it?
He's the head of PD, a veep at Sony, a major executive, running a large(ish!) company. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't recall seeing too many of those guys with enough TIME to really play games..! Sure, he gets a bit of seat time, and probably gets together with the coders, and goes 'OK, show me what's new', hoons about a bit, and that's basically THAT. And, you just know he's got exactly what half the people here keep asking for, a game with all the cars unlocked, all the tracks unlocked, and all the events open.
💡
So, in the end, he's never PLAYED the game. You honestly think Kaz sits down and grinds Indy for a couple of hours? So, in the end, to all the guys that excuse GT5, and go 'OK, it's not what WE wanted, but Kaz is making the game HE would want to play' I simply ask... Does he even KNOW what kind of game he made? It's kind of like making a recipe off the top of your head. It SOUNDS like it ought to be good, but if you never taste it, how do you know?
BITS of GT5 are amazing. The bits Kaz sees all the time, if the truth be known. But how he enjoys racing against AI so bad you have to use a car 20-30% or more heavier (and underpowered!), just to get an even race, or that you need endless repetition to progress to high levels, when 400+ events are missing, the only thing I can think of is, he never gets to see them!
He's doing hotlaps on the Nordschliese in a GT-5 all by himself, or with a friend or two online (probably a LAN!). But he AIN'T playing it like we have to... Well at least that's how I see it. I can't honestly think how else some of the glaring omissions from GT4 and some of the new game path head-scratchers ever got past him.
He SURE ain't grinding Indy..!
I have yet to hear the plight of Gran Turismo 5 articulated as well as this. The only parts Kaz would play, are near perfect. The parts he would skip through/by, are horrid. It just makes too much sense.
