Let me start off by saying I’m one of the biggest fan this series has. I bought GT1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Prologue and 5. I bought the PS2 and PS3 for two reason and two reasons only. To play Gran Turismo and to watch DVD/Blurays. I buy other games to make use of my systems but not many. I think I bought two other games for the PS2 (Dark Cloud and FFX) and for the PS3 I have Resistance 2, Soul Calibur 4, Ratchet and Clank… I’ve golded every GT game as well and spent a lot of time playing and enjoying these games.
Now, as a true GT fan I feel like I was slapped in the face by Polyphony. I expected God-like greatness for a game that should have been released with the PS3 but ultimately took 6 years to develop. They had LOADS of time to release this game. In Fact, two years ago Kaz released a statement that said something in the lines of “The game is pretty much ready to be released. It’s just a matter of timing and how much detail we want to put in the game”. Two years after he says that GT5 is finaly released. Am I wrong from expecting too much?
So I pop the game in my PS3, I was even more excited than when I first played New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns combined… Right off the bat I felt like it was a downgrade from GT4. The interface, I don’t like it. Standard cars? They look copied right from GT3!
What disapointed me in GT5…
1. The lack of cars in the dealership.
2. The lack of premium cars. They should ALL be premium.
3. The damage physics is terrible. | You either do it right or you don’t do it at all. I’d rather have the GT4 physics than GT5’s poor attempt.
4. Accidents are very unrealistic. |
5. Why are all the cool cars in the UCD?
6. Why did they emphisize so much on **** boxes like the Miev, Cappuccino, Prius, etc… Cars I will never EVER use!
7. 1000+ cars but 200 of them are different skylines and RX7's.
8. 1000+ cars and only 17 have race modifications. (Why do the Cappuccino & Golf have this feature)
9. I’ve been playing for a month and I’m already at 96% complete. The game should have:
a. Extreme 2
b. Extreme 3
c. Nascar tab on its own above Extreme 3. I mean, they make you go through a series of “special” races and they only have ONE championship for it? Idiots.
d. Formula one tab on its own above Nascar
e. Two endurance tabs
i. One for timed (i.e. 4hr, 9hr and 24 hr races) for the hard core
ii. One for laps (300km, 200 miles, etc…

for people like me that won’t ever play the 9hr+ endurance races
10. The gokart special challenges is rather useless and stupid. They could have taken the time it took to develop that to create a few more RM cars.
11. Prize cars… they really dropped the ball here. That was the excitement of the previous GT’s. Winning a really awesome car.. I only kept 8 prize cars from GT5 so far…
12. Endurance race prize cars. WHY IS THE B-SPEC NURBURGRING 24HR.’S PRIZE CAR A ****ING MCLAREN??????
13. I have NO ambition to complete endurance races that have useless prizes and won’t do half of them because of it.
14. I don’t like the online interface.
I don’t know… after playing for a solid month and getting 96%... I honestly feel that THIS should have been the Prologue. Nothing and I mean NOTHING in GT5 is perfected. Everything is flawed. For a game that made me wait this long… I’ve been seriously let down. I’m glad that the Logitech G27 is on back order because I cancelled it today. I can’t justify spending 300$ for a steering wheel on this POS of a game that doesn’t even support it.
In Conclusion: GT4 > GT3 > GT2 > GT1 > GT5
The other GT games were a lot more fun during their release compared to GT5 at its release…

Unless I'm going nuts, I couldn't (for the life of me) find the options to transfer Prologue progress (only damn reason I bought the Prologue) to GT5. I could only find the PSP! Why was this feature removed??? I raced SOOO many times to buy the Ferrari F2007 in Prologue to transfer it!
GT5 did nothing but piss me off. I'm so mad I could turn super saiyan right now!
