The only major problem that I have with the recent update is the lack of leaderboards. I consider the game unfinished but not far away from being a finished product

Old GT tracks are still missing. And of course the steering animation.

I agree, the wheel animations should have a 900 degree turn just like in GT4 whilst the replay should have all of the functions and settings from GT4 also. The only track that I consider missing is the el capitan but I don't think that track was never confirmed for GT5.

I think to answer this question you need to ask a different question:
Would one who just started with GT5 (after Spec II or not) would consider GT5 a finished game?

As posted before I have started with GT5:P - sure there are things I would have done in a different way, but I knew GT does not stand for your every day arcade racer such as the Shift series to name just one ... so, GT5 as a stand alone without having played 1-4? I would consider it a finished game.

It's closer, but I want more :D The more they give me the more I want (on of the fundamental laws of human beings)

Good response mate I never thought about it that way 👍

According to Kaz, its never really going to be finished as he has many plans, and want to do so much more. But I think we could call it a finished product when most of the populair standard cars are made into premiums :)
That's the problem as I see it. I like his ambitions, but as long as he doesn't make up his mind about certain things, the future of Gran Turismo isn't looking good I'm afraid.

I think GT6 won't be released for years and at the rate PD updates it will be a long while. I think its all a scheme to keep us hanging. A year ago we ask for all these things and they give us half-a$$3d things to play with to keep us hanging in there while they send out the next update. Until this game is perfected there won't be a GT6, bc with the HD graphics, a lot of GT5's programming and graphics will be dumped into GT6. Which will be what GT5 is in years to come, probably with more tracks, cars and revamped look but all the same game and physics, bug fixes ect....So I'm good with GT5 & where it takes me for now. And once GT6 is released I'll go from there. I hope you could import your GT5 game data into GT6 and just get racing on a better program that will support all our wants from this game. Oh ya....SpecII 👍

Please. They do a fantastic job for the things we get. No game is perfect, but GT5 is 1 of the best IMO. Finished or not, 4 years from GT5P for a brand new game isn't bad. What's bad is DNForver! Imagine if we got that! We'll get more dlc, more updates, more content; it's his project, I think we'll see the fruit of his labor.

Sleek Stratos
I'l go ahead and tweak that estimate to about 4-5 years given the delay with GT5...

Since GT4 was on PS2 and GT5 is on PS3, they had to create a totally new engine for it, so it took a lot longer than they expected. But for GT6 they will build the game off the current engine, so it will take less time.

Question: What does the finished GT5 product look like? Answer: Real Life
This will never fully be achieved, so the game will never be truly finished.

Kaz probably sees GT in the same way as Da Vinci saw the Mona Lisa; it can always be improved. The Mona Lisa wasn't considered "finished" by Da Vinci, but it's still considered a masterpiece.

It was a finished product shortly after release. Sure the updates are nice, and sure I could always want more from the game. But to be honest the game didnt cost that much and has much more content than most other racing games or games in general, there are always improvements to be made, if there weren't then there would have been no need to make another game after GT1.

Your average FPS Call of Duty style game can be completed within a few hours, all that is left then is online play on a limited selection of maps, expanded only by spending money on map packs, which get quite expensive. By using the logic that GT5 was not a finished product you are to assume that no games are finished products.

You're saying two different things. ;)

"Is GT5 a finished product now?"

"Is GT5 a more finished product now?"

Finished, no, not by a long shot. Closer? Yes. How much so can only be determined by the individual. In my case, I want to see a lot more done with A-Spec events. Leaderboards would make a lot of people happy. Better online implementation still. More Race Mod cars. A Livery Editor would be seriously sweet. More classic tracks - I want all the classic tracks. More DLC car packs. Some of those things showing up would make me think it was finished enough, and more would be gold.

Kaz probably sees GT in the same way as Da Vinci saw the Mona Lisa; it can always be improved. The Mona Lisa wasn't considered "finished" by Da Vinci, but it's still considered a masterpiece.
I had forgotten this. If I remember right, wasn't he tormented by this very masterpiece?

Hopefully Kaz and the team aren't thinking this way! And my criticism should be taken lightly. I loved GT5 before the update, and I love it even more now.

For me, the main thing missing is getting into your fav car and the game displaying a list of all events that car can enter. Instead of having to click each event and see if your car can enter.

If they add this, GT5 will be complete for me!

Im waiting for GT6... only in 2020, not earlier.

Until 2020 they must push GT5 to the limit.

To the people that don't think that car manufacturers influence the damage in Gran Turismo.

Me: What about the damage feature? How far is it?

K.Y : That’s also coming. The negotiations are taking place already, the only problem is that some manufacturer like Porsche (NOTICE HE SAID PORSCHE, DOES THAT MEAN SOMTHING ALREADY HAPPINING) say's it’s ok to crash and total our cars we have no problem, and other manufacturer like Ferrari say's : we won't allow you to show some damage on our cars even if it’s the side view mirror damage .

just chuck testa with another realistic NOPE!!!

Spec 2.0 is merely the first step in the right direction.

The first step
. At least Kaz promised more DLC.

It was nearly finished after release. But it was developed into the wrong direction.

So, it will never be finished as long as the concept is changing.

still not a normal list for standard cars & low number of events = unfinished for me

Personally, GT5 is alot more complete game than GT3 were back in the past, reason, GT5 has almost every car from previous GT, while it has tons of stuff added to it (yes, there is missing tracks but we got some new ones)
And possibility remains in the air that we might have more tracks added to GT5 in the future, Spa is maybe only a start (and really nice one that track is)

What I did expect from GT5 in first place was more cars and races, so my only rant would focus on races that arent there, like manufacturer ones.
but heck, we got seasonal events, which are pretty much the same than Aspec races, only rewards are improved and no gift cars received from those.

Career mode could be tweaked but would it make actual game any better?

Why do alll these threads end up the same: No, because I personallly want item x, and its not there yet, so no.

My answer is not quite. Its definately getting closer and closer, and I have tons of fun with it, but there could still be more done to make it better still.

Well... yeah. I'm not going to hound PD about it, because I'm not sure what shape they're in. Is the studio split? Could everyone move to Fukuoka, or did some have to quit? Did Kaz have to hire a bunch more people to make up the difference? Are they up to full speed yet? Who knows. I'm just happy for what I can get.

*sarcasm* No, we need more Skylines *end of sarcasm*

:D

It's still missing one of the most important and basic features.

Time-trial leaderboards for every car and track.

I assume they are never coming because the seasonal time trials (which I have no interest in for the most part) are presumably an offering to appease the demand for proper leaderboards for every car/track combo.

No. I'm pretty sure more DLC is to follow.

haha good one ^^ I agree with your statement, though.

It was nearly finished after release. But it was developed into the wrong direction.

I think this is the obvious "answer" (I used quotations because there isn't any definite answer to this thread's question). Compare a video game that has an actual story and a video game that tries to simulate driving, then try to guess which one can always progress without becoming Police Academy 5.

Simulators can only evolve and improve on what they're supposed to accomplish. Does technology get worse? Sounds like a dumb example, but I hope it isn't lol

I love a lot of aspect of GT5 now, I however despite very much the new all black interior view, that's a slap in the face. I hate to see an interior view in a videogame without any texture at all just plain black.. wtf.. come on. I love some of the new interior but honestly for the all black one they should have just passed. I'm very surprised about that coming from a company with a mentality like PD.

However I love shufflin ^^ Made me play again online yesterday for 5 hour (been like 4 month since I last played gt5 online).

Games which are released as finished product don't have a long shelf life, GT was realised and yes it wasn't finished, but was it unplayable? No.

It bought a a lot of fun to a lot of people as it was and it's continuing to grow as we go so I'm 100% happy the route PD went, so along as PD continue to add to it I'll remain happy and will carry on playing it

Spec II is a welcome improvement, but I think it has made something clear. PD is unwilling or incapable of making GT5 live up to its potential. Spec II was really just playing catch up for the more part.

Being able to set weather is only common sense, and we could even do it online before the update.

Online room restrictions were always possible, they are all over A-Spec, and some of the ones in A-Spec are still missing from online. Also, we still can't mix PP and hp/weight restrictions.

Endurance saves also should have been obvious, and if PD were not willing to include them, GT4's B-Spec options should have made it in.

The new physics are really the only thing that might not have been ready a year ago.
