Getting a licence I mean. It seems to be easier to get licence now since Nordea ( my bank) is supported. Come on, let's hear the good and bad sides of it..:nervous:

You get access to what 15 more cars? As well as 5 more tracks with different variations for them. Including the autocross creator thing which can be used on all tracks. More servers. One time fee. I can't really think of a downside unless you think the price is too much, but it really isn't.

I kinda doubt the Scirocco will be available in the demo, so you'll also be buying full access to that car as soon as it's released. And Loon didn't mention how great most LFS S2 servers are -- virtually lag-free, and most drivers are clean racers. The bad apples are constantly being weeded out by the built-in voting system as well as privately-operated "leagues" or collections of servers, where a ban on one server means a ban on every server that host owns.

Mmhmm.. I also have G25 which is ideal for the game. In addition, I would gain access to a Finnish car, RA2.. I will consider this when I get more money soon. I recently got the new patch, and I have to say that finally I can feel the difference made by small changes in the suspension. I still find it slightly lacking in some aspects, but it's getting there.

I was also considering getting S2. Seeing that there's almost no downsides, I think I might get it sooner than later. 44 bucks seems worth it to me

I'm throwing down the dosh for S2 on the 10th. :sly:

I've had loads of fun with the demo. The physics are very gratifying. Looking forward to getting access to more cars, and mods of course. My GTR2, GTL, Race '07, and Rfactor files are at least 4 to 5 times larger than when installed due to the massive amounts of mods.

I do have a question.

Is www.lfs.net the best place to go for mods? Any other suggestions?

;)

40 pounds is nothing compared to the $153 i just spent on iRacing for a year subscription. Yeah, go to the lfsforums for better textures, paint jobs, gloves, suits, sounds etc.

Have to say, after playing the demo quite a bit now, the licence seems awfully tempting for all the extra content, and as mentioned, access to the Scirocco.

Quite a cool looking car that, didn't realise it was based on a real vehicle. I'm hoping that they release more real vehicles, and more unusual ones like the raceabout. I've been loving driving the Formula BMW in the demo.

Any chance of writing up a little review of iRacing, in the near future? I have been dying to check it out. I may just throw down the $20 for a month, in fact, I'm sure I will. However, it would be nice to get an impression from another sim racing fan. What are the physics like in comparison to some other racing sims? Closer to LFS, or GTR2, or ...?

Roger that.

Are there any other sites to get mods, like there is for rFactor, GTR/GTR2, etc...?

;)

well, I'm off to make money transfer. bit of practice with two of the cars that are worth of driving ( the front-drive hen-house from hell can rot in the ditch IMO) convinced me. does anyone have any idea how long it takes before the transaction is complete and I can unlock the S2?

god damn.. moneybookers is completely crappy service. doesn't give enough information to fill the bank transfer form. and paying via visa electron is just as difficult. :banghead: :ouch:

Aww, it's not that awful. Yeah, it's wrong-wheel-drive, but apart from open-diff wheelspin understeer, it can be quite zippy in corners, even tossing the tail around with the right setup and driving. :) I actually like it better than the Mini-Cooper-like UF1000, which is too underpowered and short (wheelbase), IMO.

Anyway, too bad about the transfer problems, Leonidae, but when you get that sorted, you're going to have a blast. Don't forget to try the LX6 -- it's a sexy-sounding beast.

it's not the handling that's the issue with the shopping trolley.. more like lack of gravity when going over curbs. I've rolled that car in spectacular fashion ridiculously many times.

Well, most of the good textures and skins are posted directly on the lfs forums or links are there. I would reccomend checking out master skinnerz http://skinnerz.proboards26.com/index.cgi.

iRacing feels more direct, graphics are better, and the tracks are more textured. On laguna seca, there are areas where there's noticably less grip than others.

I would like to make a little video review, but I've never done any real video editing. Maybe when I can find some more time.

It seems that it isn't, atleast if my bank has something to say about it. those god damned greedy :censored:s want to charge 12€ extra for the money transfer.:irked::banghead::mad: Not going to happen. I'll contact a guy on finnish LFS forums, he has been buying voucher codes for others before. :indiff: Sheesh..

I've been considering buying S2 as well. $50AU isn't all that much for me right now, the only real problem for me is we couldn't find the authorisation key for XP while dual-booting it on my Mac. Once we get that sorted out, I'll probably put it all down to whether the next big GT5:P update makes online play better or not.

well, I got it now.. and I have to say that it's worth of every penny.

Oh do tell.

When my check arrives in 2 days, S2 will be one of my first little toys to purchase.

What do you get over the demo?

;)

A lot of it has already been mentioned, but i guess you're asking him about what is particularly nice to have when going from demo to S2. For me, the skinning was a lot of fun when I 1st started: being able to jump onto a server and having other people's paintjobs and helmets automatically uploaded onto my PC. League racing is a lot of fun too. Its nice prepping for a relatively long race (over 45minutes) and then having to deal with the pressure of the race and trying to stick to a particular strategy. Learning new tracks well enough to compete is fun :) You get more out of lfs than just pick me up racing if you invest more time into it. Also, i was big into the drifting scene early on. and the drift battles were great fun. Great community.

Well, you get couple insane little FWD cars (original Mini with 180bhp and Corsa/Starlet/Micra mix-n-match with 230bhp), mid-engined Finnish insanity called RaceAbout 2 ( imagine first gen Lotus Elise with 2l Saab turbo engine with ~250bhp and you got it right.

There are 4 formula cars.. 1 that doesn't go fast but spins faster than you can say it's name, then there's the Formula BMW from the demo, Formula V8 and F1.. which is pure insanity on wheels. And of course I drove the F1 without traction control. Let's just say that the feeling of speed is mind boggling if you manage to keep it on the track.

But the "lesser" racecars are just as impressive. There's the Porsche GT3 wannabe with all the speed and acceleration and handling you might want, ( it still does the Porsche thing. ;) ) then there's RX-7/Porsche 944 lovechild for slightly more advanced drivers and 4wd Impreza look-a-like with 4wd and boxer engine.. few others too. many tracks more with different variations, autocross, drag, oval etc etc..

Wolfe, it might take some time before I dare to race, it takes some time to get used to these cars and find a setup that suits them and me. I'm not too fast with any car.. lets just say that I can put up a small fight when I get the track memorized and car tuned properly.

Thought I'd add on to Leonidae's descriptions of the cars. :)

You could also mention the road-spec Mini with 55hp; I want to learn how to drive that thing on two wheels. :D That mix-n-match is the XF GTR, the racing version of the hatchback from the demo.

One of the real cars in the game. :)

...those others including the road-going, 360hp 911 Carerra wannabe, the turbo version of the Mitsubishi Starion wannabe (IMO ;) ), which is in the demo, and a FWD street version of that Impreza/Civic lookalike.

If you want more detailed info on what you're missing, Delphic, here are links to the car and track pages of the LFS Manual:

I'm no tuner, so I'm only as fast as my driving will allow with stock or near-stock setups. I also had drifting in mind, or just goofing off. As I'm sure you've noticed, Live for Speed is pretty flexible -- beyond racing, I've had a lot fun on banger racing, stunt track, or "cops and robbers" servers.

Thanks to the community, this game really is about more than just wheel-to-wheel racing. And that's one of the things that makes it great. 👍

So a car that has essentially the same styling as the Starion is more like the 944 or FC -- cars with which the XR shares little of its styling, not to mention the complete lack of any displacement match with the 944, much less the engine discrepancy with the RX-7 -- because it doesn't have the same engine displacements as the Starion? ;)

well, they also have Mini that is not a Mini, and Opel Corsa that isn't Opel Corsa.. Believe me, I'd rather have the genuine cars (well, maybe not the Opels;) ), but I don't complain. Now I just need to find out which of these cars suits me the best

i would say it's not the best deal since the number of car selection/tracks seem small, but i'm more used to console games so thats one reason. Theres not really a track thats designed to really pls a drifter yet. seems like you are paying a lot for a demo but i did it anyways.

the other cars are pretty good though, and more tracks isnt neccessarily bad.
