You shouldn't underestimate people's capacity to give a proper answer to the most stupid questions. :D :D :D
Especially frenchmen ;)

french......whos french....OY DONT DIS THE FRENCHIES OK, THEY MAKE THE BEST CROISSANTS, BESTBAGUETTS, BEST WINE....oh and im half french miself....so thats that.
:D
blimey i never knew about all that day stuff, reely surprised me, im no mathimatician, but reel interesting.

I still haven't found the day limit.
I tried with 99,999 and I played until day 100,004 without any system crash. I tried again with 999,999 and again I played until 1,000,001. I don't see the word 'Day' anymore but there is still no crash.
I'll try again tonight with 9,999,999.

I thought you pretty comprehensively answered this question, why are you trying to prove it?

I'm half French too.

Mere curiosity.
I didn't care until the question was asked, now I need to know the exact figure. Maybe because I'm two halfs french ;)
I'll post the result in case anybody also cares. But ok, I promise I won't post anything else related to this until I have the exact figure.
Perhaps I should consider replacing my sig by "the truth is out there" and my logname by Mulder.:D

As a side note, GT2 (on a 16-bit console) allowed 65535 days, or (2 ^ 16) - 1.

I put that code into the GS, and raced a 2-lap race, to see what happened after the race was over. The next "day" shown was Day 131071... 2 * (2 ^16) - 1. After the following race, it was now Day 131072....wierd!

Since I can't change the day in GT3, I'm not sure exactly what would happen.

But 2billion days? Had the Earth cooled that long ago?

Got it.
There is a maximum day number, but there is actually no real limit.
I set the number of days close to what we assumed was the maximum, that is 2,147,483,646. I did a dozen of runs on license IA2 (btw, I got an amazing time of 15'518, which kicks me up to 30th rank on GT3times ; perhaps because that has always been my favorite license to try this day increase stuff :D)
The number first increased by 1 to reach the theoretical maximum of 2^31-1, then the next day was actually - 2,147,483,648 (which is - 2^31), and it kept increasing day after day.
Of course the 3 first digits of the number are not displayed on the screen, but I checked this in MK's.

So in case you fancy racing for 5,8 million game-years, your day counter will keep on clocking until 5,8 million game-years later you're back at day zero. By that time you'll be famous as the man with the two biggest thumbs of earth

@ kamikazefly : X-port or Sharkport users can use a little but excellent program made by a guy called MK, that allowed to do such crazy things like manually changing your money, you day counter, or even your cars. See in the hybrids section of the forum.

@ everybody : thread is answered to me. I hope I won't bother you again with one of these alien answers. ;)

so how much car distance can you get? this question hasnt been answered

I'm a cheery 26-year old with a great (and easy) job and too much time on my hands as a result of it.

Eagle or ToyoyaMR2 could have known this by checking your profile.
Indeed 'lab monkey' is an easy job with a lot of free time. I wouldn't call it 'great' though :D

I think this has already been asked in some other thread. I'm around 14,800 km (9,200 miles) on my main game.

You can try it out. I doubt Neon would like this however, and I'm pretty sure you'll be banned before you reach 2^8 successive posts, killed before you reach 2^16. :D

There's another problem.

With flow control, that's:

64424509440 seconds.
1073741824 minutes.
~17895697 hours.
~745654 days.

So uh yeah, you'd be pretty dead before you made it.

flat-out

Around 880 days so far, but I've been practising a lot on the licenses and they increase the day counter much more than the mileage.
