It is me or the AI in NASCAR is ridiculous

For those that have said it's the hardest to win I 100% agree. The only way I finally won the race after so many failed attempts was to stay out of trouble and tail-gate the lead car from lap 3 right to the last lap then slingshot by him on the last corner.

Thought my heart was going to explode before the race ended, oh and I had default downforce set on the car but I'm not sure that helped or hindered as it was drafting that helped me win.

I`ll bet it was a great feeling and very exhilarating to finally win, that`s what the game is about.:D

Earlier in this thread, there was quite the heavy debate on "whether or not min or max downforce enabled a driver to obtain faster laps."

I attempted to do a test in NASCAR extreme series/time trials @ Daytona but my driver skill was a somewhat inconsistent variable and the results were discounted.

EDIT:
Absolutely. I agree with you there. The only way I found to win was draft on the lead pack until the 9th or 10th lap and then pass at the last corner, as you also suggest, or block until the end. In my video I was able to get a "three-wide" situation going and it felt like my best race yet. It's such a difficult race but once I won it felt like I'd really accomplished something. Especially, since I have minimal knowledge of NASCAR racing.

I haven't done a real test but my feeling was and still is that that low downforce = greater speed, less cornering power and v.v. but for this particular race it had almost nothing to do with downforce set-up and everything to do with me being able to tail-gate the car in front and take advantage of the draft effect.

I can't tell you how many times I got nudged off the track by the AI drivers and got left so far behind I just couldn't catch up becuase I had lost all the draft. The cars regardless of tune simply can't pull away once you're in front and can't catch up when you get dropped by the pack or at least that was my experience.

Still brings a smile when I think about that win though :)
