JGTC S1 Round 1 Race + Results

Yeah for sure count me in to move from GT4 to GT5 with this series when the time is right. Like Kolyana said, can you imagine racing with a 24 car field. :drool: :drool: Can't wait to see all the new features in GT5, perhaps some will increase even more the realism of this series. :drool: :drool:
 
I am probably *NOT* going to run this race again ... it's amazing fun, but I can't help but feel like it goes against the spirit of things somehow. I kinda like how the SCCA are doing things by having only 1 race as per gentleman's agreement.

I may go practice the next track instead.
 
It sucks but until we run in arcade I will not change that rule, based on my previous statements and observations.
 
No, no ... I understand and everything ... it just seems kinda cheesy to run everyday looking for the best time. I've done it twice, so I think anything now would be fighting over five or ten seconds either way and possibly just end in a worse time. If I do it again, it will be for enjoyment only, but this is a good chance for me to get a few more percent in GT mode or even practice the WRS (Suzuka ... lord, it kills me!)
 
Took my Woodone Supra to the track today. First I had to delete some old stuff off my memory card, it's full from all these GT4 pictures. I need my own USB so I don't have to keep leeching of friends haha

I got frustrated the first lap because I kept ramming into the cars. Man, they don't brake late enough or get on the power soon enough. I kept bumping them. But I finally got a run that was good enough, despite some noticeable AI bumping and sliding. I saw open spots and went for them :dopey:

I started with RH/RH and went 8 laps. Pitted, got fuel, went another 8 laps. Pitted, got fuel. Smacked the Ford Falcon on lap 17 and took a trip to the pits for a penalty. Pitted again on lap 24 and didn't get fuel, shot out of there on RM/RM and won by 1'28.327 over the second place Viper GTS-R '00.

Pretty happy with my first run, although I could knock off 30 seconds with a perfect run. Replay saved entire thing.

MAN! I love those pictures!!! I have saved half a dozen of those for my own personal collection ... what a damned sexxy race line up ... I LOVE THEM!!!!

The spin in front of the grandstands rocks ... great series of shots.

Questions:
1) How did you manage to get the whole line up like that? Did you restart the replay several times moving the camera? Or did you manage to take them all in one go?

2) How are you getting your thumbnails to line up like that, rather then down the page like mine are?

1) I took the pics of the lineup during the rolling start. Just switch the camera to one of them, press select, and take the pic.

2) You can make the thumbnails line up by putting one space in between the links when you post them.

All the races will be between 50 mins and 1 hour, depending on how I feel the day I put the race up. :)
 
Any plans on something a little longer? I think once in a blue moon I could definitively go through an hour and a half or something ... especially with a tougher field.
 
Like I said previously my first run was pretty decent but a good 20 secs was possible to be shaved. On my second try I got screwed on the 28th lap and I received a penalty when lapping a tard slower car. That pissed me off alot because I was ahead on the chrono. :mad: So I said to myself, alright go for it a last time and if you can't beat your first race well the first one will be your final entry. I only focused the entire time on the race itself, no pausing for a write-up nothing. Ran a perfect race aside from a little off course excursion that maybe cost me 3 secs.

All in all this is really close to the best I can pull off. Not sure how the other drivers will perform but I have a feeling this should be enough for a podium finish. If not well I tried my best. :)

Also, is it allowed for us to discuss strategy with out teammates? It would be good for us to exchange information and tips. Would make it a benefit of having the second person.
 
Whew :crazy: Finally finished my race.

Had a good fast start with only minor paint trading on the first lap from the AI then chased the last two cars for laps till they both spun out and i took the lead. On lap 10 pulled into the pits for some fresh tires and back out i went, still in the lead ran for another 10 laps and pitted again. Back out and a few laps later started to catch the back markers, picked passing points and got buy till the laps ran out. 1st place :sly:

Took two tries for a decent time - 1st race was more of a test for tire wear and AI response.

I really don't like the idea of a race over an hour, but that's me.
 
Going to be too busy preparing for my move and entertaining jump_ace today, so I'll not be re-running the race. Time submitted.
 
Poor Camaro ... I love that car, but it's often seen in events where it stands no chance. :( It's currently in my GT Championship Series (GT Mode) and, of course, brings up the rear everytime :(
 
We'll have no choice but to increase the difficulty for GT500 to 10. GT300 stays at 8.

In my race, there was an RX7 LM that was ahead of the Z LM Concept.
 
Also some cars are going to receive a final hp correction before round 2. Some increase and some decrease, you'll see.

Q: First of all, congratulations on your win. An exciting race today, which almost ended for you on lap 2. Talk us through that incident.

SG: Thank you. Yes we had fun out there. In the opening stages the track was quite cold and the pack was pretty tight into turn 3, basically I snatched the grass under braking and nearly lost it. I'm sure it gave the other drivers a moment of pause too *laughs*. But no, luckily I was able to recover but we thought for a moment we may have damaged the rear diffuser, but no, everything was fine.

Q: A brilliant battle between you and the Team Ford RS200 in the beginning there, ending in a nice overtaking maneuver on your part.

SG: Yes, well basically I was much faster in the turns but he had the torque coming out [of the corners] so it was difficult to be close enough in the braking zones, which was really the only way I could pass him. But yeah, I managed to close on him down the main straight on lap 3 or 4 I think it was and when he ran a little wide on the second part of turn 1 I was able to squeeze past on the inside and keep him behind me after that.

Q: And then the lead Lancia spun out after the esses to give you an early lead. Would it have been a different race had he managed to keep it together?

SG: Well this is motor racing, anything can happen and usually does, so I cannot say for sure. But we were very quick here today, we had a great package, so I think we would have challenged for the win anyway. If you look at the splits shortly after that incident I believe we were pulling out a couple of tenths every lap, so we were faster definitely.

Q: Your lap times dropped a little bit in your second stint, any problems there?

SG: No, the car was working 100%. I wasn't comfortable on the second set of tires, I just wasn't able to find the right balance in the car, so I think that made us a bit slower, but it didn't alter our strategy or the outcome so no complaints.

Q: Any final words?

SG: I'd just like to thank the team and my mechanics, everyone did a fantastic job preparing the car for today and during the pit stops. To Yokohama for providing us with such a winning tire for this car, and to Mazda for building an incredible engine and all the help they've provided us. And of course all our sponsors, the folks at AsparaDrink, ADVAN, and everyone else. And Isami for managing such a great team! I'm very happy to be here this season and I'm looking forward to scoring more points for the team.

What if I already ran the race on 8???? Is my run invalid?
 
I would never change rules once a round is started anyway. We learn from our mistake and then the next round we readjust. :)
 
Time submited. Unfortunately i had about 5 slow downs (touching grass :/) wich costed me about 20 sek :(
 
im am ****en CHOKED!!!

ran a perfect race with laps all consistenly within .5 of eachother

and then when i begin LAP 30 i freakin run outta GAS! :crazy:
