Dang... sorry to hear that. Hope that you and Chris get back to normal quickly. 👍

Hey guys, Katie brought me my laptop so I have something to do in this god aweful hospital room. Luckly Chris is in the same room as I am so we can talk and what not.

But I'll give you the story to what happened. Me and Chris got home from Pistons game around 1...we went out to eat afterwards and hung out with some people. I woke up Katie and Chris woke up his girl and we headed out around 2. Our goal was to be at the cabin for breakfast.

Anyways we weren't to far from my house, driving with the windows down and country music blasting. We saw some blue annoying lights in the rear mirror but thought nothing of it. The girls were behind us in Katie's Trailblazer since they had all of our stuff in there.

But we heard screetching tires and heard a crash, Chris yelled something and the truck shot sideways. We were doing about 80 with the cruise control on. The SRT-4 was doing in excess of 120 according to the police. We went sideways and caught something in the road and we went over once (Chris's F-150 has a roll bar on the back), flipped again, then rolled down the embankment and came to rest. Chris was unconious, and I was some what awake.

The SRT-4 has bounced off our truck, hit the k-rail, shot across the freeway and hit a light pole.

But Katie and Jessy stopped and ran down to see if we were ok, Katie (studing to be a nurse) knew what to do for the most part. Also some other people stopped, a nice old couple, to see if there was anything they could do.

I guess I ended up passing out before the EMT's got there because the next thing I remember I was in the hospital room with Katie sleeping in a chair next to me.

As far as injuries go my right knee is completly gone. I mean it's shattered. My arm isn't broken, its just fractured and 3 of my ribs are broke. Also I have several cuts.

As for the truck rolling over, the reason the truck rolled it because we were hit at such a high speed and the fact that we were pulling a trailer. So we were a safe as could be.

Thanks for all your warm wishes.

You're good at typing with one hand. Thanks to all that "practice," eh?

Good to see you're doing fine. Well, fine after what you went through.

So, dare I ask, how's the driver who hit you guys?

I'm just thankful you are alive.

Do you know if any pictures were taken of the incident?

Good to hear that you are all right! 👍
AS I said before, get well soon! :)

Typing with one hand is hard as hell. I'm trying to figure out my talking typing system. But the driver that hit us is should live but looks like he will be paralyzed from the waist down. But the sad part is he's 16 and is facing a slew of chrages. Including a lawsuit from me and Chris.

His parents are facing the lawsuit, since he's under 18, that makes them responsable. I'm confident your lawyer will know what to do. :sly:

What about your knee? When are they going to operate on it? Knee replacement surgery is very, very tricky. It's best to get a surgeon who does nothing but, and has done a lot of them. They'll cost a whole lot more, but this is one area of your body that will be worth the extra cost. Believe me!

Well, hang in there, dude. 👍

:scared: Only 16!

^ it figures. its mostly only the new street racers that take stupid risks like that :(

i hope your operation and recovery turns out well. And i hope the 16 year old's parents are really really really rich.

Nice to hear from you, Blazin. I'm glad to see you're alright. The 16 year old is lucky to be alive, though he'll probably never walk (or drive) again. However, this must be an extremely valuable lesson to him, and hopefully he'll pass along the message to others.

Great to hear things are going well. Good to hear your friend is in good condition too.

 classic ending. I can't imaging an SRT-4 taking out a truck WITH A trailor on it but the pictures being created in my head look pretty mangled. :scared: Glad they hit you and not your Gf but at the same time how the **** do you hit something so damn big even if it's at 120?? :odd: 16...

Why do I feel remorse for this person, he's getting what he deserved but his life is pretty much over at least for a longggggggggg time.

What about the guy in the Mini?? it's partly his fault too... just like sex it's both parties involved, he ultimately could've decided not to "race" (if you wanna call it that). :dopey:

Anyway, I'm glad your doing alright... just take it easy. 👍

Wow.

If my kid was 16, the last thing I'd buy him (or help him buy) is something like a SRT-4, and if he wanted to buy one and could afford it, well he also could (and would have to) fully sustain himself.

I know I would have said otherwise at a younger age, even at 18-20 years old, but hey, a teenager's testosterone burst shouldn't decide wheter or not someone will be able to walk for the rest of his life. If he wasn't smart enough to see that, his parents should have.

Stupid kid. Stupid parents. 👎 Sue their pants off.

That said, I'm glad he'll live, and it could have been much worse for him, he could have ended quadruplegic, or with severe brain damage...

It is great to hear from you, Blazin! We are so lucky to already have you back here with us, and I'm glad that the hospital is allowing you Internet access. I always thought that would make hospital stays so much more tolerable.

Joey - Thank you sooo much for the update !.. Good to hear the good news from the Horses' mouth (so to speak)... Glad you're (more or less) ok man !..

(And hey - Not everyone can call themselves "Semi-bionic" and still tell the truth !.... )

Good to hear you're ok. I hope it won't be long before you start new threads in the "Auto News" section.

:) 👍

:scared: (at 120mph! Must've been racing for a while before hand, SRT4's aren't the fastest thing with four wheels and an engine to 120)

Good to know you're ok, Joey. :)

Suppose the F-150 saved you from more serious injuries, eh? đź’ˇ (Greenpeace, stick that in your pipe)

****ing b*stards, they could've forked out a few $ for helmets and gone racing at a strip, but no, they want to do it in the most dangerous way possible....

We have problems with street racers here, fellow Kiwis should remember the Mazda Familia turbo that wrapped itself around a tree at over 140km/h... 👎

Great invention. 👍 (provided you cannot easily bypass / deactivate it.)

OnStar should have that feature built-in, too, that would be even better.

SIXTEEN years old? Sorry, but a 16-year-old kid has NO business driving a car like an SRT-4. I've driven one, and those things are FAST, with WAY more power than a little Neon has any business having. And his parents had to buy it for him, too.. no sixteen-year old can afford a new car without a little help from mommy and daddy.

Reminds me of when I was that age.. I offered to buy my dad's old 'Cuda from him, that he'd had sitting in storage for years. He refused, for the sole reason that the car was far too powerful for an inexperienced driver to own. I was upset at the time, but looking back on it, he did the right thing.

That's just stupid.

I hate to be a prick, but he deserves whatever ends up happening to him. Parapalegic? Fine.. he can spend the rest of his life telling people that he's paralyzed because he was stupid.

Depends on the accident. If he was hit side on and, say, rolled down an embankment, or clobbered the start of a railing that flipped the car, then any car would've rolled, and the size of the F-150 probably helped keep him safe a bit.

Whoa! With premonitions like that, I'm off to enter the lottery...

Good to hear from you, Joey! Good luck with the knee.

They have, what, 204bhp?

I'm sixteen (two weeks ago), and the fastest car I've driven is a Mazda hatch (90ish hp, maybe)...

That's good because with my 2nd car now I've just broken 100hp... I think. :dopey:

If I buy the car I'm thinking of next I'll have a wopping 106hp. :dopey:

The dad of the kid who hit us came into the hospital today to see me and Chris. Funny enough he works for Chysler and he claims he didn't know the SRT-4 was that fast. He came in to save his ass from being sued but I said he'd be hearing from my lawyer. He didn't even really offer an apology which made me angry.

Also an investigator came in to talk to me today as well. He told me what they concluded from the crash scene. Apparently this kid had been busted a few times for exsessive speeding and had 6 points on his license. 16 and 6 points? Good Lord. But he said that we were luckey to be alive and showed me the pictures of the accident. I must say I'm surprised I'm sitting here with minor-ish injuries after looking at that.

The F-150 was bent where the cab met the bed. Everything was a mess. THe SRT-4 was disinagrated. Certianly scary stuff.

As far as the knee it will be sometime this week since right now I can't walk. Kinda sucks but wheel chairs are fun as hell. Me and Chris have been trying to race with them but our females keep us from having any fun .

But ya I'll be part man part machiene. And my goal is to be back playing basketball by summer because there is no way I'm going to sit on my ass. I can't do that. The only thing that sucks in I won't be able to drive for 6-8 weeks. I almost cried when they told me that.

But I'm getting along with stuff to do, Katie's been awesome and this proves she'll be an awesome wife.

The nurse is impressed that I haven't lost my appetite, she said most people do when they go in the hospital. But seriously I've eaten like 5 times today and I'm still hungry.

The one I drove was around 230hp, I think. You could spin the tires all the way through second.

Most of the cars I've driven were pretty low-powered. I've done some digging, and here's my car history:

1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais - 2.5L I4, 110hp, 3-speed automatic

1989 Toyota Camry LE - 2.5L V6, 153hp, 4-speed automatic

1992 Ford Tempo GL - 2.3L I4, 96hp, 3-speed automatic

2006 Mazda3i - 2.0L I4, 150hp, 5-speed manual

As you can see, nothing coming anywhere close to 200+hp, although I did test-drive an SRT-4 while I was looking around. I ended up going with the Mazda because my Ford died, and I needed something right then, and didn't have quite enough money to spend on something faster. Then again, I'm almost thirty, and I'm a damn good driver.. I can handle something quick. A lot of people can't. The Mazda is a good deal quicker than the Camry, though, since it's a stick. It's also lighter and handles better.

 Remorse over... put him and his dad ass in jail.

Oh man, I bet the dad is gonna be glad to be working at Chrysler once word gets around his son lost to a mini in an SRT-4.

:scared: Didn't it have a slippy diff?

Googled:
Horsepower(HP): 215 @ 5400 RPM

Cars I have driven:

1.5 L I4 Dec '89 Ford Laser (silver), god knows how many speed auto (like this, piccy)
1.5 L I4 Mazda Familia (this in silver), 3 spd auto

Judge them, if you will.

Starting to explain why his kid is an idiot too, doesn't it?
