Kart Racing - Most frustrating races in GT6?

I don't know about you guys but I find Kart Racing to be the most frustrating facet of GT6.

In particular short courses, where the slightest nudge of a wall can ruin an ENTIRE race for you.

Arguably, one of the more unforgiving race types in my opinion.

What are your thoughts? I'm off to go repair my broken PS3 controller after 50+ restarts on the National A one!
I hate the Karts, any driving tips

Happy New Year to all of you

thanks for sharing your settings! I'll try them out & see how I do? I've golded everything so far, but this series is really giving me trouble.

No issues here with any of the Kart races.
Shifter karts with stock setting were an easy win.

Karts can take a while to get used to, I ran them a lot in GT5 too...
...so if you haven't really driven them do some races in Single User mode first.
Once you can at least beat the AI at medium difficulty you should have no prob. with career races.

No way to really practice for the Willow Springs Shifter Kart race in Single User/Test drive...
...so next best thing is getting used to the lower view of the track, I did some laps in X-BOW.
You can practice for Brands Hatch race by starting the event and then quitting the race before it ends.
It won't register as a non-win race unless you forward to the next event (Willow) before opting out.

I use a wheel with no driving aids/0 ABS.

that's all fine & well, but when it takes me hundreds of tries to get gold on these shifter kart races when I can get gold the first time on all the car races, something is out of proportion!

How does the Red Bull Kart events compare to the rest of the kart races? I've only done these (plus the easy first kart races of course), and I'm able to sneak a win here and there.

The Red Bull Kart event wasn't bad at all.... it's the Shifter races that are frustrating, especially the arena!

I'll give it a shot, gt arena is my last event to gold before I've got all stars for iA/S, thanks!

It has better handling and more balanced. Karts 125 (no shifter) is more difficult than redbull. I got gold on 1st try on championship.

I've golded every single karting event. Having raced karts IRL, I can say that GT6 karts should be more predictable because I've never, ever spun out in a real kart (not trying to brag). The only thing I had to do to gold the kart events was adjust the gear ratio according to the track.

After setting the ballast and bias for lesser spin outs, you can also try racing in automatic in GT Arena. So you can focus only in driving. The track has very short straights and turns, it can mess up (confuse) your shifting.

Automatic tranny & ballast settings of 10/50(42/58) helped me quite a bit, but still no gold on the arena!

This may be caused by the consequences of spinning real vehicles being significantly larger than spinning virtual ones.

I won using 6kg 50% rear bias and i set the gear to 120km because of the short straight. Also, try lowering your controller steering sensitivity to +2 or 0. So your cornering will be precise and you not overturning then spinning out.

How is a ****ing go kart more temperamental than a 1000hp Sauber with absolutely no driver aids? Unbelievable

Of course; spinning a real car could potentially result in death, while the worst that could happen if you spun a virtual one is a DS3 flying out the window.

Haha. My worst moment was smashing my DS3 with my fist repeatedly during one of GT5's licence tests.

DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6kg 50% forward did it for me. Overtook the leader on the last lap and finished the last corner in a massive powerslide. So relieved to have that done

 Now sell all your karts and never look back. Just kidding!:sly:

I tried the 125 kart race a few times but the AI would always spin me out on the first turn of the first race and I could never recover. I added 7kg 30% to the front, turned my max speed down to 68mph, let the AI overtake me on the first turn so they don't turn homicidal, then made up for it in acceleration. I managed to get gold on the first two races, but I messed up the GT track when I bounced off a curb and spun out. I went back to that race and won it no trouble the next time. I use a DFGT wheel, and it is quite the arm workout twisting around the kart tracks.

Don't forget, if you really hate these races, its super easy to cheat and cut corners at silverstone. You shouldn't need to, but it is really frustrating to do these races a dozen times.

I'll try it out, thanks!
And also what I mean use "automatic" is use automatic transmission (no shifting gears/not MANUAL) not "auto" in "transmission" in car setup options. But set the auto gear in 120km, the lowest setting for fast acceleration.:)

yah, I use the automatic also!

I agree. Although I suspect that PD probably implemented the physics properly, but it's just easy to spin because we can't actually feel what the kart is doing. I find a huge part of karting, much more so than driving a car, is feeling the kart's behavior with my entire body.

I've also driven a 250cc shifter kart- strongly agree, lateral grip is modeled pretty well, but the karts spin too easily.

i have golded everything but the last 125 s race n the 125 rb races i golded some but didnt really care for them i cant for the life of me do anything in the last 125 shifter race i cant even finish it i get fed up with ai being insane im a fairly fast driver in a car i practice on the nurburg ring but i cant do a thing i get fairly consistent lap times of around 28 ish seconds and end up getting passed by 14th place im just fed up i have no idea what im doing wrong srry 4 the rant specifics i guess spinning out is the main issue i have i have tried all the settings i have found on here n around n i have managed to spin out with all of them or atleast break the rear tires loose i usually don actually spin out as much as just lose the rear end i have done a fair bit of drifting in gt5 n 6 so i can usually keep it controlled with the rear loose but its still slow i dont know if ill ever get this race finished
