Was looking at Motor Trends Car Of The Year contenders and I found this:

Jaguar should sue in my opinion. What do you all think?

The Hyundai Sonata is typically the one that gets compared to a Jaguar - usually the Kia Amanti is compared to one of various Bentleys or Mercedes'.

Thanks for the more-than-wallpaper-size pictures, by the way! 👎

Rossell, you had me worried with the thread title. I thought Jaguar had sold the S type to Kia.

Even with all the problems Jaguar are facing, I don't think Ford would even consider doing that :P

You'd need to attach them for that. Or you could just post this:

You be the judge:

Not too much resemblance, in my opinion.

Heh. The car has now turned into an E-Class.

Here's a few shots for comparison:

(Funnily enough, thic picture is from a Toyota website)

Jaguar S-Type:

Lastly, I tried to keep the size down. Hope it works.

Actually, the Kia lights look more like the old-shape E class lights.

Edit- Darn! Beat me to it!

No matter what you think it looks like, all preconceived notions go away upon driving it - $25000 is a good price, but severe body roll isn't. It's a very quiet car, though.

Does anyone have a rough conversion for $25000 into £?

Thanks Rossell.
£13,205.12 is veeery cheap. I suppose it's nearest rival would be the Daewoo (Chevrolet) Nubira?

On the whole, Korean reliability in improving.
In the Top Gear Survey, 4 Korean cars had above average scores, with the Hyundai Santa Fe at number 20 (out of 142). Only the Daewoo Matiz scored below average, in 85th place.

Hyundai Santa Fe- 20th
Hyundai Accent-69th
Hyundai Coupe (new)-26th
Hyundai Coupe (pre January '02)-52nd
Daewoo Matiz-85th

Altogether, Korea beat USA, France and Italy.

havent seen a daewoo in a while.

television --> cars. lol.

EVERY KIA CAR AND FACTORY SHOULD BE DESTROYED.

AND DON'T YOU EVER THINK TO COMPARE KIA WITH AMERICAN MUSCLES AND EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY.

DON'T BUY KIA

What are you trying to say?

Kia stole styling cues from mulitple high end companies, its just what htey do.

My primary objections to Kia is that reliablity is still worse than Honda or Toyota (I'm a big Toyota fan) and that they depreciate so rapidly on the market, along with lower quaility in assembly of the little things - interior stuff and what.

The new Jaguars look like Ford Taurus' to me :P

Companys like Kia and Hyundai have alot of cars that look like ones from other companys.:grumpy:

Sill, that one ain't as bad as the Rio Sport or whatever it's called.

Saw one in the metal, the hoodscoop's actually glued on...

OMG... at first I thought it was a photoshopped STi... I WAS LIKE NYUUUUUU

But still, thats so wrong.. stealing that much of a style cue :p

But isn't that offset by their high features-per-dollar content and long warranties? I'd put a Kia Amanti or Hyundai XG350L up against the best from Honda, Nissan, Chevrolet or Toyota. Or I would if I wasn't interested in driving dynamics at all, since the Hyundai and Kia are let down by their engine and handling - but don't underestimate them; a lot of people don't care about dynamics.

Hahaha. I remember seeing that a while ago on ClubWRX. In an official release (or something of the sort) on MSN, a Subaru spokesperson said, "We're confident people won't mistake this car for the Subaru WRX STi. For instance, the STi does 0-60 in 4.8, as the Kia does it in 12.something".

I'm also giving my friend's roomate tons of crap for buying a hoodscoop for his 2005 Impreza 2.5RS. Did I mention it was the previous generation hood scoop? :)

I quite like that Rio sport. I like the styling.

Well, except for the shameless and blatant Subaru ripoff, I would too. The Kia Rio is actually quite a nice looking little econocar, in both sedan and wagon format. But the imitation-STi look is just not forgivable.

But then again, it would undoubtedly be cheaper than a Scooby, and still a pretty little thang.

Subaru style for less could appeal to alot of people...

...after they were done swapping the rims engine and lights off a wrx (and smacking it with a hammer a few times) did they remeber to remove the Subaru badge too?:dunce:
