COme on, you can't say it's an ugly car.
You come on. It's a Rio, not matter how you cut it. Not matter how hard it tries to look like a STi (which I do think looks nice, in it's own bulldog-ish sort of way) it's still just 80% there--a weak clone.

Oh well, to each their own.

No, you come on. It's gorgeous. It's got all the lines and colour. I'd even stretch to saying it's prettier than an Imp, and I'd take the Rio over the scooby any day.

Can I have some of what you're smoking? If you were seriously given the choice between a WRX STi and a Kia Rio, you'd take the Kia?

Well I'm sorry, but I find the Impreza to be vuglar and pretentious.
That's my opinion.

Many Imprezas may be driven by vulgar and pretentios people, but that does not make the cars themselves vulgar or pretentious.

Anyway, the STi can practically do two 0-60 runs in the time it takes the Kia to do one.

Geez.... What the hell... But I personally think it ain't surprising... Koreans copy all kinds of stuff.... Heck when I used to live there I heard all kinds of songs that copied old pop songs or fairly new j-pop songs..... I really lost any hope that they would stop from copying anything... (And I am a Korean too)

 no need to be sorry man. Its your opinion and I guess I respect you for it
And look at that darn body roll on that car! That thing looks like its about to flip over!

While the loaded nature of hte cars is appealing, I do care alot about dynamics... alot.

Thats why if I wanted a car with lots of options and a decent price tag, I would go over to Scion (where I get my Toyota relablity) to get an xA or tC.

I'd even venture an STi could do 0-80-0 before a Rio could do 0-60. Not that I have any idea of the STi's 0-80-0 time, but I've driven a Rio.

Have you driven the Rio WRX?
Or the ice racing Rio.

Have you driven the Rio WRX?
Only diffenence between the base Rio and the faux-WRX Rio is a slight suspension stiffening. Not something that is going to change the lethargic acceleration at all.

You guys think you know.
But you don't know everything. (Most of you I guess)
I will tell you something.

Nah~ now don't get scared!
I'm just trying to introduce you one more Kia

There's one more interesting copycat car called 'Spectra5'.
Which copied concept straigh from Mazda5.
I'm too lazy posting pictures now, but it's funny.
Now, they even steal name too.

Kia's quality isn't upto the point of toyota/honda/nissan yet.
But they keep improving which is good thing.
But it's sad to see more of those rip-off cars these days.
Just trying hard to survive.. Not that they are so evil..
It's all about the business.. and money..

I sell Nissan in Korea.

I don't mind Kias looking like other cars...but I don't think it does much for thier credibility and I don't think they are fooling anyone anyway.

And, although the Spectra5 and Protege5 have similar names, the Protege is much more wagon-ish. See:

Anyone see the new Speed channel show KIA vs Porsche where they are modifiing a Kia Kio wagon to compete with a porsche turbo ?

That was not Spectra5.
This here is Spectra5.
Let's compare Protege5 and Spectra5 pictures here.
And yes, I was wrong. I meant to say Protege5. Not Mazda5.

exactly same concept as Protege5/Mazda3

You're an idiot. But we'll cover that in a second.

Yes, the Kia Spectra5 is the same concept as the Mazda Protege5. Congratulations! Believe it or not, studies here show the wagon is back big time - particularly the low-cost small wagon and five-door hatch (about as particular as it gets...). The Spectra5 is one of several cheap sportwagons now on the market, and they have nothing to do with the Protege5, which was never mass-advertised - meaning it never caught on the trend that Kia's playing. So while they may cover the same idea in theory, Kia probably never even looked at goals or sales figures for the Protege5 before putting out the Spectra5.

Also do note that Kia has sold a low-cost wagon (Rio Cinco) in the US since 2002 - the same year the Protege5 came out. By your theory of Kia copying Mazda, perhaps the day the Protege5 was released, Kia scrambled to the drawing boards, designed the vehicle, made the clay models, built a few prototypes, threw it against a crash wall, wind-tunnel tested it, created new architecture for the rear three-quarters of the vehicle, and mass-produced it ... within a few months? Or weeks? Nice. I'm more inclined to think that the Spectra5 is simply following up on the success of the Rio Cinco, which beat sales goals, modest though they were.

While we're on the subject of small, cheap wagons and hatches, here's a list of all of them in our market:

- Chevrolet Aveo
- Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
- Chrysler PT Cruiser
- Ford Focus ZX5
- Kia Rio Cinco
- Kia Spectra5
- Mazda 3s
- Mazda 6
- Mitsubishi Lancer LS/Ralliart
- Pontiac Vibe
- Saab 9-2X
- Scion xA
- Scion xB
- Subaru Impreza RS/Outback Sport/WRX
- Suzuki Aerio SX
- Suzuki Forenza
- Suzuki Reno
- Toyota Matrix
- Toyota Prius
- Volkswagen Golf
- Volkswagen Jetta

Now - did they ALL copy the Mazda Protege5? Christ. You sound more like MazKid that some wannabe Nissan CEO. And I say wannabe because you picked the wrong brand - I work for Nissan, and we don't have a Korean CEO - or even very many Korean workers, let alone one who comes on Internet forums and posts non-truths about Korean cars. In Korea it's pretty much the dealers and a few white-collar types, all of which report to Carlos Ghosn, since the operation is so small there.

 thats funny that he think he is the Nissan Korea CEO. Good thing you work for Nissan or he might start saying some more BS. @ the CEO dude Hey dont try making another username called Mazda Korea CEO becuase I am sure Mazkid will prove you wrong since he works in a Mazda dealership he might be able to contact someone in Korea and prove you wrong.

I hear the Aveo's interior is pretty roomy! I hear this from kids in high school that have drivers ed. I get drivers ed in January! :D I know I will pass since I have pratice driving. My dad lets me drive around every now and then but he only let me drive on the streets like twice.

I like the xA and xB... both are quite comfortable, and I am 6 foot 4 inches. They are a bit smaller though than the Protege5 and what not.

Now, it is indeed true that 5 door hacthes and wagons are back in big big demand...

Take the picture, and meet a professional car designer,
then ask what are the similarities between two.

A car designer will say that they have similarities in their:
fog lamps
tail lights
front lip spoiler
rear spoiler
side skirt
.
.
.

Yes, you will say they are not same. If they use exactly same looking, maybe same parts, then you will agree but
then they have to close the company next day.
But just look at those lines, those shape and angles, outlines from the window, lights, big round fog lamps. They are same styling.
If you compare them with, let's say.. Toyota Matrix.
The style is different.
I don't know how much deeper I have to explain, but if you don't understand. Check with other people.
I just give you key points here.
And yes, Protege5 and Mazda3 was a big hit here in Canada. (You didn't even care to think about who I am, you just look at word Nissan and Korea and CEO and assume I am a CEO wannabe Korean living in Korea probably selling couple used cars in Seoul)
Did you know Mazda's selling increased because of those Mazda wagons while most other company were down? Did you know how much buyers they stole from Civic owners?
And yes, Kia had Rio RX-V (in Canada). And what?
It's same cheap wagon, but not Protege5 style wagon.
It's got round eagle eye looking head light, etc, I don't have to explain further, you know it better.
What's special about new Mazda wagons? They are extremly sporty to youth. A Civic rival.
Yes they had great success, other company can follow it, no problem.
But this Kia was following it too close. The name, Spectra5, people will instantly recognized for image of sporty Mazda brand.
Why Spectra5 is similar to the word Protege5? I don't have to explain that simple question.
Yes Kia used Cinco RX-V, whatever. And who think they are similar? Not me.
I know what all other cars look like, because I'm not a stupid.
If you know a car, I know it too because I have great interests too.
I thought grown-up people in here know how to respect other people's opinion.
Seriously, there is no reason you get so upset about me.
Even if I'm a total stupid, why do you have to be upset?
I'm sure I will just ignore or laugh, whatever.

I didn't care what you call me, but since you begged me to leave reply. Here I am listening to your call.

Mind over mouth.
All the wisdom men don't talk much, thus I must be a stupid person that I admit.
How about you?

I never knew that trying to read one new sentence per line is equally annoying as reading many sentences glued together without paragraphs. This is an interesting development. 👍

Hmmm, the Impreza is vulgar and pretentious... but a car that's so blatantly trying to ripoff the design isn't?
