Not trying to start a fire, but wow some of you guys are young. I imagined most people that frequented this site were 20+. I turn 35 this month, (I guess I'm old) Kids playing GT5 doesn't surprise me one bit, it is a game. It does surprise me to see much younger folks on GTP though.

I have no issues with racing clean teenage drivers, but I would never befriend one. Reason?
Simple. I had a 14 year old on my friends list. He asked me how old I was one day racing. I told him the truth, he told his mom. Mom abruptly gets on his microphone and starts calling me a pervert, etc.
I abruptly deleted him. All (5) of my friends now are age verified over 21, as they all live locally, and I know them personally. In todays world, it is just not worth the drama.

I'm a teenager as well and my parents are used to me hanging out with the big boys. Heck they don't even care about who's in my PSN friend list

If your a clean racer, and considerate to the drivers around you, age should make no difference.

👍 to this. I'm damn near 50, and I don't really care how old anyone else is, as long as they can drive. And there are ACTUAL drivers out there at very young ages now who are competing for top-tier teams.

In my view, nobody should get kicked from a room until they do something to earn it.

I'm 15 and have never really run into the age problem... Well other than people thinking I'm older than I actually am. But then again, they usually ask after a race or two and by that time know I'm a clean driver

Wow, why would she call you a pervert for being friends with him over PS3?

I have no idea. She just kept yelling and asking if I knew how old her son was. Then she started in with the reporting me bit. I just washed my hands and follow the better safe than sorry route. There are some very vindictive people that will try to pinch you for no reason.

We seem to have a lot of young drivers in here! That both pleases and surprises me! :)

Well, at least you don't have the problem I have... some people think I'm a girl :scared:... And they don't even get to hear my voice! (don't have a mic)

I dont care for young kids in any of my games. Doent matter how good, or clean a driver they are.

Hey, at least I am honest. I dont care for the higher pitched voices, and most of the slang talk. Is it fair? Probably not, but I dont care.

The youngest person on my friends list is 19, and even that was a stretch.

Call me a grumpy old man I guess.

I'm 15 and a fairly clean driver...but I keep getting kicked from all the good rooms.
It's probably because of your PSN name. And the GT-R part lol

No offence, but like XXI was pointing out about that witch, some people are complete jerks to others in the real world. An example would be like how racists don't have a real reason to hate entire races. It's insane. You're supposed to look at the individual and see WHO they are.

I've run racing series for months now. I've had a couple regulars that were 14-18. As long as they are clean, we don't care. I will say that the youngest one we had did have moments where he betrayed his age in very immature acts (picked the wrong tires at Suzuka in the rain, and drove the wrong way down the straight to the pit entrance). But we don't hold those incidents up as the template for everyone underage.

I will say as a father that I think your parents should be more involved. "Oh, its just a video game." It is a video game in a bar. We don't censor ourselves. We talk frankly about whatever we want to.
That's a damn good point.

Im 16 and i get kicked, yet i rarely use assist and don't crash people or ram or get in the way of a clean overtake, the second i tell them my age i get kicked, i even added a few adult guys and they deleted me when they found out i wasn't 30, people just have that biased that we all drive like a " noob" yet allot of us have solid driving lines, ask any body who has raced on SSR5 and they will tell you im scary fast because i have played it ever since i was five , i could drive it blindfolded to be honest.
Those people are called fascists :dopey:. That doesn't apply to you, Vaxxtx. You, at least, don't go and do something sheisty like what those douches did to TheeFrogmanlego.

To be fair, though, not all teenagers use slang and talk like cocky bastards. I pretty much hate those cocky bastards.

Drive it blindfolded? YEAH RIGHT! lol

That was a joke.

If you can drive clean , respect others , and enjoy the game it should not matter .

I am 32 myself i couldn't care less on how old someone is on the track .
I even got some 13 year old on my friendslist , he lives on the other side of the planet . We don't race often but when we do there kick:censored: races .
Close battles , crazy overtakes and sometiomes huge crashes :p .

The only thing i will do when he is in the lobby is watch my language a tiny bit more . It's called a respect thing .

Other then that i couldn't give a 🤬 what his age is , he can drive and that is what is important .

Edit seeing i pressed send to soon .

I even raced his Dad a few times as well and his brother , in all fairness the little bugger is the fastest of all 3 of them .

If you get kicked, it's probably because you haven't hit puberty, you won't shut up, and your voice is annoying. =)

Personally, I just mute people, because ignorance and annoyance seem to span across all ages. I probably mute more 'men' then kids. Regardless, racism and backwards drivers are the only things I kick for.

That is why I can't stand kids on mics. That, and that they are always arguing/yelling at their little brother.

Lol, my voice is somewhat deep for a 13 year old but I'm CONSTANTLY having to yell at my annoying sister...

Point proven. (see my last post)

I'm 14. :) Some people ask my age and stuff (not personal stuffs :scared:).

If you can't reasonably expect to go ten minutes without having to talk to somebody off-game, or without others sending constant noise through your mic, lose the mic or else mute it except when you really need to say something. This applies to all ages.

Music is a different issue, whether for your own ambience or to "share" with others. Just don't be surprised when people mute you. Blaring music ONLY while racing is just trolling though, uncool. And for ****'s sake, no using a mic without turning off all of the game's music!

But if people boot you just for being young, they're the real children.

I'm one of those horrible really immature teenagers. And a somewhat decent driver. I try to stick to Photomode so everyone could avoid me.

I don't usually do what Jai does, but when I do, I don't even tell them that I'm 14.

They can be annoying. I usually mute them. Especially if the result to ramming them with their veyrons because they are loosing to a Subaru legacy.

I often smoke the competition, and love to say "You got beaten by a 14 year old with a DS3"

Is it unusual for a 14 year old to be good at games.

Don't think it is.

Kids developed a rep of being annoying, esecially when they have the voice changer, ugh just wanna smash them or my ps3, but muting them solves the problem

That's 🤬'd up.

I've never ran into anyone asking people's ages. Communicating in GT5 is so limited without a mic anyway, usual conversation is just a repetition of "Good luck" and "Good race" or "Kick *someone*".

Once I had to ask someone's age as he was so annoying, not really a good racer and always complaining about anything he could. He promplty replied "31" and I burst out laughing (maybe he got the numbers backwards ), anyway I blocked him and haven't raced with him since.

That is really stupid, it's not like you're doing anything wrong. Your just playing a game with him for christ's sake!

I am 38 years old, and after reading this thread, all I can imagine is my 14 year old son posting here now. Well, that and the general feeling of "feeling" old now.

When I go online, I never use a mic, and I mute everyone who has one. I go online to race, and if a 13 year old can beat me, so be it. I like you do not strike up converstations with people on my friends list unless I know they are adults. I have yet to verify the age of all of my friends, but hopefully it never comes to that point.

Having a mic or skype would be an added bonus too. :sly:

Gettin' a little OT here, but why do so many people care about this. I have no interest in talking to others when I'm racing, and I'm certainly not going to invest in a headset just for the occasional times I race online. But some rooms kick people for not having a headset.

Now, room host is entitled to run his room how he wishes, doesn't bother me in the least. I'm just curious why this would matter to people.

And you wonder why kids get kicked from lobbies.
