USA have the baddest cars human being ever made, but I just love them how they look and sound!

Korean "things" even cannot be called cars. So baddest cars category still goes for America :)

How about bedrock?

Really, their cars only had 2 wheels.

But hey, you have a reason to feel better given that a (IMHO fugly) red camaro was chosen by Yamauchi (wasn't he biased against american cars? har har) as the winner of the GT awards at SEMA 2010, so that's bound to get into GT5 sooner or later.

I suppose usf1 were on the verge of beating red bull, mclaren and Ferrari in f1 aswell. Sums up the us car industry

How is 1/2 smaller than 1/3?

How is 5 in 25 total championships 1/2?

And of course the cars that won those championships ARE represented in GT5, so again, the cars that ARE relevant, are represented. The vast majority aren't represented because they are less relevant than the rest.

That has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

We are talking about the actual FIA GT championship right?(the one that has only had 2 classes since it began in 1997)

We're not adding all the other regional series' are we? Because if we are I can make anything look bad.

The total of FIA GT championships since it started in 1997 is 25. Twelve years with two classes, one with one class. The Viper GTS-R won only 5 of those 25 times. Hence 1/5.

How many American cars are in the game. I'd be surprised if it was less than 70.
What is a suitable number?

In that case, Audi and Peugeot really suck as they've only won LeMans a few times and it's been going since 1923(96 times).

So Peugeot is 3/96 and Audi is 9/96, and that's just counting overall wins.

Man they suck.

Too bad that you're considering only a a single racing series. Consider the whole of the worldwide racing world, and Audi and peugeot will have stashed up victories easily superior to any american manufacturer.
And it's not that Audi and especially Peugeot are featured more in the game than major american Manufacturers, mind you.

That would only make them look worse(it would actually make any manufacturer look worse unless they are called Porsche).

Anyways, I'm done with this thread, thanks for a few laughs.

I know there's a lot of people upset with the lack of variety of cars in this game, but my issues stem from the American side of things.

I can't believe these cars have been left out of the game...

-Cadillac CTS-V
-Pontiac G8 GXP
-Buick Regal GS concept
-Dodge Charger SRT 8
-Ford Taurus SHO (2010 version)
-Ford Fusion Sport
-'11 Mustang GT 5.0

There's more on my list that escape me right now, but I was disappointed to find the lack of those cars in the game.

(and yes, I know, first post, and yes I know there's topics about the car list but I haven't seen much of an outcry for American cars)

The SHO and the 2011 Mustang are too new to have been included. The new mustang isn't even in dealerships yet for goodness sakes, How the hell do you expect Polyphony to get a hold of one? The CTS-V is a joke. PD wanted to spare Cadillac the embarassment I'm sure. Talk about an $80k steaming pile of crap that any RX7 or Supra from the used car lot for under 15K will run into the ground. You cant be serious about that G8, I'd rather take my chances with a Camry:lol: Look dude, between the Corvette ZR1 and the Ford GT, you can beat half of A-Spec alone. America is represented well in quality in the game, not so much as quantity, but the American cars that do matter are in the game homey.

i think its safe to say that the games has a very small car selection becuase i only count premiums wont be caught dead in one of those standards (interior view just is that much more immersive)

lmao

By this logic, Porsche sucks at Le Mans. There has been 83 races, they have won 16 overall - 1/5. If we include classes which they didn't even compete in as you have done, we can even take it further.

Problem is they haven't competed in all the races, just as the Viper has not in FIA GT. Not to mention that calling a car "crap" because it is what - 13 years older than it's competition it would see today - horrible logic. Of course a Viper wasn't going to win in 2007, nor should it. That's like saying the C5R should be quicker than the C6R. Just no.

You do realize the G8 is actually Australian right?

Alright, now I'm really done with this thread.

Excuse me, but you seem to have a rather narrow vision of the racing world :D

Racing doesn't only equate to Gran Turismo championships, and the relevance of american cars in the racing world as a whole is small compared to other regions, not only success-wise, but also presence-wise, that's all there's to it. Cherry picking a few series in which they have been successful doesn't make them more relevant.

Consider the whole of the worldwide racing world, and Audi and peugeot will have stashed up victories easily superior to any american manufacturer.

Ever care to think that the rest of the world combined is bigger than the USA?

First, the Mustang has been out for several months. Come out of your cave.

Second, I highly doubt a stock RX-7 or Supra could beat the CTS-V at anything.

Third, enjoy your Camry, Grandpa.

Ever care to think that the rest of the world combined is bigger than the USA?

Ever care to think that that's exactly my point? :D

Second, I highly doubt a stock RX-7 or Supra could beat the CTS-V at anything.

Put them on a mountain pass, and let's see if the CTS-V makes it past the first hairpin :P

Ever care to think that that's exactly my point? :D

Ever care to think the rest of the world combined is bigger than whatever country you live in?

Ever care to think the rest of the world combined is significantly larger than Japan?

"Ever care to think that that's exactly my point? :D"

Then why argue? Sure we don't have that many wins compared to the rest of the world because of that....

I bet it would. Have you seen one try and fail? No, you haven't. So your statement is irrelevant.

Which is what makes american cars rather marginal in the racing world as a whole, not to mention the driving world as a whole.

I also haven't seen a bullet trying and failing turning 90 degrees. This doesn't mean it would manage.

Too bad that Japanese cars are quite a lot more popular worldwide than American cars. You aren going to see a TON of toyota, nissan and whatnot in Europe and in the rest of Asia (and even in the US mind you). American cars? Not nearly as many.

You said everything I was thinking!

But yet, Japan is somehow not the same?

Who has more victories at LM across all classes, America, or Japan? Not even close.
GT Championships across the history of widespread GT Racing, America or Japan?
Neither has had any semblance of success in F1 through out history.
Japanese manufacturers have WRC, I'll agree.
Japanese manufacturers do their own thing, American Manufacturers do the same. We have both Super GT and NASCAR.

Yet..... We have "a bajillion" Japanese cars that are completely irrelevant outside of Japan, and according to you it's too much to ask for more American autos. Clearly "Racing Success" is not a factor of what is in the game.

Your logic is flawed as can be. I would much rather have more German autos, for sure, but that doesn't mean your logic is right, because it is not.

One of the Top Gear episodes summed it up best. Hammond was driving a SubLime Challenger IIRC, he loved it, but of course, in Europe you cannot have a car like that. You absolutely cannot. Not because it's a bad car, but because well, Europe is old. Streets are narrow and congested. It just does not work on a practical level. Has nothing to do with how good the car is at all.

I've never heard of any of those cars.

I've never heard of any of those cars.

I bet you never heard of Junior's cheesecake either, but that has little relevance to how dang delicious it is.

Japan is still MUCH more relevant in the worldwide automotive world, while not as present in racing. You will not turn a corner anywhere without finding Nissans, Toyotas and so forth.

Considering both the racing and the automotive world (if we considered only racing we'd have only racing cars), Europe and Japan completely overshadow the US.

I bet you never heard of Junior's cheesecake either, but that has little relevance to how dang delicious it is.

But he has a quite valid point. Most people outside the US never heard of the vast majority of the american car production. They aren't even exported because they failed penetrating the worldwide market.
Outside the US the american car manufacturing is represented by ford Focuses and similar mass market cars, that are still less popular than similar cars produced elsewhere. The rest? You don't see them anywhere, most people don't even know they exist or existed.

I've never heard of any of those cars.

And I've never heard of a Dihatsu Midget II before GT2, yet it's still in the game.

This game is made up of "street" cars that are more or less Japanese only cars in any sort of numbers. How many Dihatsus are running around England right now? Think about it.

I bet you never heard of Junior's cheesecake either, but that has little relevance to how dang delicious it is.

The same could be said about the Gillet Vertigo... Which don't get me wrong is actually a pretty cool car...
