Lack of American cars

I'd like to see more US cars. How about a race between a Foxbody Mustang GT 5.0 and an F-body Camero IROC-Z (not the concept). Classic Ford vs Chevy! Half of the joy in American Muscle was tuning your ride and making it go faster. -Something diehard GT fans should be familiar with. I'm happy the Grand Nash made it in 👍

BUT where is the CTS-V ? Latest German saloon cars? Latest Aston? Ferrari FXX? Porche?

I hate to say it but GT5 has a lot holes and lost focus after GT2. :grumpy:

My mistake.

But in the case of the second paragraph, let's remove Ferrari. They can only sell a few hundred of their cars at a time, so they aren't relevent, right?

Relevance doesn't mean only numbers, but also popularity, this even not to mention relevance in the racing world and the status as "dream cars". And in this american cars are even more crushed by the rest of the world.

Any car, from any part of the world with some history behind it, is relevant in the automotive world. Just because it's not a Ferrari or the like, doesn't mean it's not irrelevant.

There are more and less relevant cars. Since GT5 can't simulate ALL the cars of the world, obviously the more relevant ones should take precedence. And guess what, those aren't american for the most part.

Speaking of which, Japan has what percentage in GT5 sales?

You forget a little detail in that equation. Japanese cars are, in the world of automotives as a whole, much more popular than american cars. You'll see a LOT more Japanese cars in Europe and the rest of Asia than American cars. hell, you'll see a crapton of Japanese cars even in the US.
Your statement would make any sense only if Japanese cars were only popular in Japan. This isn't the case. On the other hand, american cars are popular only in the US, anywhere else they're marginal.

Where did that come from? GM alone is 10%

And apparently in Europe, Ford and GM make up 18%
http://adrianbalan.wordpress.com/2010/01/19/worldwide-car-sales-by-manufacturer-2009/

I was talking about gt5 sales, but its closer to 25% from the figures I have seen, which I will admit are a bit old but they did not drop to 13% (http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/7678/gran-turismo-5/) So yes a quarter of sales by one country is enough to make them want more specified content.

"you sir think differently than me, so since I can't defy your logic I must insult you!"

With "quite a bit", do you mean 13% of the worldwide sales? Quite a meager percentage to feel entitled to "want more".

There is no LOGIC to defy. The statement american racing is dull is an opinion. I did not insult you because I disagree, because if you had read that correctly I prefer racing that is more popular in Europe. I insulted you because you are a condescending douche, which still holds true in my opinion. Fact is that because YOU think some cars are more important that others that people who want other cars are wrong, though it is all opinion. I do not see why you wouldn't encourage more american cars as it is possible that this could increase interest in GT racing and help to bring more (as in quantity) competitive american cars coming to race and increasing american interest in general which would be good for the racing world.

Are half of your choices limited to a top gear episode?

You see, I've actually driven a Quattroporte and an S8. Both are fantastic cars and I sure hope the Rapide is as well regardless of what James May had said on that show.

Well said bro

OK, then more than Focus' are relevent from the US. Racing world, fine, all the cars I mentioned previously. I recall Dodge crushing Porsche in FIA GT '97. Sounds relevent.

So no, sorry, if someone says "american cars suck" and you feel personally insulted, then the problem is on your side and in your overblown national pride.

Problem is in your side as well with a seemingly blind overblown hatred of american cars.

Even my Canadian made Trans Am WS6 is absent from the game. I ignore all the ricers in the game so it really only has a handful of cars and the rest are just clones of crap.

In YOUR opinion.

hatred? LOL. Call it indifference. Which is the same feeling most people around the world have towards american cars.
Your blinding national pride makes you perceive complete indifference towards an irrelvant category as hate. It's quite a sorry sight.

with the amount you argue that they are boring and suck I hardly see any indifference. You seem to take it personally that american cars could even be CONSIDERED for gt5.

Strange, I don't anyone who would have a mustang over an m3, that's without lap times, m3s are just seen as more desirable to start with. A mustang would stop working or fall apart before you had chance to floor it.

That makes me laugh as seeing how my moms new Mercedes has been in the shop more in 2 years than my 01 Z/28 and 98 suburban combined. That car has more panel rattling than my "rattle box" 4th gen.''

anyways whats wrong with more cars no matter where their from? some may not be fun to drive or appeal to others but more than half the cars in game already don't appeal to me, japanese and euro included.

Again, in YOUR opinion. Stop stating it as fact, it's making you look like an idiot.

Not really, i think American cars are well represented in GT5, maybe even a bit too much considering the presence of Nascar that's nothing more then a marketing attempt to appeal to the american customer (and considering the results, it's wasted resources and money). I consider childish and pretty ridiculous that people would demand more than that going by the relevance of american cars in the world of motorsports. It's as if I wanted more FIATs into the game because I'm Italian. And that'd be just as silly.

You seem to forget all those other years in which Dodge has been crushed by Ferrari, Maserati, porsche and so forth. The sole fact that you use porsche as the term of comparison for the FIA GT goes to show how much you know about it :D

I live in Europe, travel and traveled a lot for work (including Japan and the US). Opinion and Experience are two radically different things.

You seem to forget these race wins by Dodge.

They only competed as a factory team from '96-'01, seems impressive to me.

Allow me to step in here and advise you guys to keep it civil. Otherwise this topic will be locked.

Any further posts that contain comments that we consider flame baiting / trolling will be dealt with.

Carry on...

America v. Europe v. Japan

Drive them all I say.

Anyways, I am missing a few cars from each zone, so no big deal here.

Which compared to the total of this competitions is still a vast minority. making a list to make it seem long doesn't turn a minority in a majority.

Oh, and you forgot to mention the fact that the FIA GT (and a few others) in that list are a composition of multiple classes, making the aforementioned total even large, and the american victories even more of a minority.

Of course you already knew that right? I'm guessing you also knew they pulled out in 2001(It was all privateer teams after that).

And the fact that they pulled makes them even less relevant.

the Corvette c6 is also a very good performer

I thought ORECA (French) ran the Dodge cars in gt?

And the fact that they pulled makes them even less relevant.

So what Audi did in the ALMS is irrelevant?

How about Team Lotus's success in F1 during the 60's and 70's?

There are countess examples of teams that were successful and pulled out, are they now somehow irrelevant?

Dodge only pulled factory support because they were making a new Viper.

yep, he's talking about the cars, not the teams.Still a vast minority considering that they managed to win five championships over a total of 25 considering GT1 and GT2.

Their relevance is simply marginal to the whole of those competitions. The reason why they pulled out doesn't matter. They're not part of it anymore and they haven't been for several years.

I did find it funny how you bunched out GT1 and GT2 to make it look more relevant than it is, though :D

Well than, Peugeot and Audi totally suck as they only have won 1/3 of the 24hours of LeMans.

Edit: Look at that list again, see the "CLASS" above the list?

Minority yes? was it a plurality? How many did the competitors in that time period win?

USA have the baddest cars human being ever made, but I just love them how they look and sound!

Korean "things" even cannot be called cars. So baddest cars category still goes for America :)

1/3 is quite a bigger percentage of the successes of dodge in the FIA GT.

It's not above the FIA GT.
