Too. Many. SUVS!!

Not like it's very good off road either...
Not in the upper market this car is going for; $200,000+.

I'll bet a huge chunk of the first production year will be spoken for. SUVs are already popular in the US, & a SUV directed towards the upper market that has had to settle for the Germans' efforts will easily flock to this & the Bentayga. Better yet because the Bentley will cater to the luxury market whilst this will appeal to those who want something more sporty.

As for the off road, it remains to be seen. A lot of released shots show it off road, but I doubt it'll be an issue even if it can't; no one's dumping $200,000 on a 600+hp car to go off-road.

I like it. All or most of us will agree this looks 250K times better than Lamborghini's other SUV in their past- the LM002. I am fairly squeamish about rear visibility for this machine. It does look very nice. While an SV version of the Urus sounds insane, I probably wouldn't be too surprised if it happened. If AMG made a performance variants of Mercedes-Benz SUVs, then who is to say Lambo can't make such performance variants of this Urus? I sure want to see what this machine is like in the flesh. I've been around a few Lamborghinis before, so seeing this thing will be very interesting.

So...RS6 engine?
According to Winkelmann, it's unique to the Urus.
“This engine is not used by anybody else, only for Lamborghini. To be the most powerful in the class it must have something that is dedicated to our brand. It must be able to produce the right amount power and torque, but do that in conjunction with the right transmission and chassis control that makes it a true Lamborghini.”

Maybe I'm being a bit of Grinch, but those Urus wheels are three sizes too tall.

Doesn't that engine have about six different existing specs, ranging from about 440HP all the way up to 600HP in the newest RS Plus/Performance Audis? Maybe it'll be a slightly different tune than any of the Audis or Bentleys currently running it, but I don't expect more than that.

Winkelmann's words ring a bit hollow anyway, considering the newest R8 has the exact same Huracan engine.

From my last post, I wasn't entirely knocking the Lamborghini LM002, but it was the LM002 that comes to mind when I think of Lamborghini and this new Urus SUV. I first heard of the LM002 when I used to play an old PC game called "Stunts" (also called "4D Sports Driving"). The LM002 wss almost basically Lambo's Hummer. This new Urus is an elegant charmer with a great deal of edge. Am I excited for the Urus? Not really. But, I do like the Urus.

Uh... I'm not entirely sure.

What's the market for this car? Super rich Russians? I have a feeling that the people buying this car will not care about taking something that expensive off road.

The people buying this car won't be going off-road to begin with like the numerous Ford/Dodge/Chevy pickup owners. No different than other exotics that are bought for what they are, not what they can actually do.

The problem with their Lambo right now is that they can't take it out in the snow, or down a dirt road, or to a part of town with poor road repair, or to a part of town with speed bumps, or to a part of town with a single dried leaf on the road. This enables them to show off their exotic car in more places.

I may or may not expect seeing something like this Urus being driven aggressively off-road like with with serious pickup trucks or like some Land Rovers or Range Rovers. I'm not even sure this thing will be tossed around like Rally Raid "cars." Maybe someone will be bonkers enough to come off with a rally raid version of this machine to compete in events like Dakar or something. This is surely something to keep tabs on.

I saw a man in his 50s take his 458 to go food shopping at Woolworth's. I doubt anyone like him, buying an exotic suv, will be taking it off road.

I'm so glad the Urus is happening, one of the coolest looking SUV's ever and hopefully it wont have changed that much stylistically as that dealership suggests.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Middle-aged people don't like to go off road? Or is it something to do with the fact that he took his 458 to the grocery store. That's bad because... um... because.. wait why is that bad?

Went right over my head as well.

The man is in his 50s. Obviously he has back problems, so he can't step on the accelerator too much. He can't do track days or any sort of spirited driving, and therefore drives gingerly to the grocery store.

Who knows? Maybe he has taken it to a Phillip Island Ferrari track day. More often than not,
It's only going to used to go grocery shopping and to be seen by celebrities who really are not going to take it to a track or off road.

That Tweet, in the above post, mentions it will do the LM002 proud. If it's that capable and fast over rough terrain, will be used by militia, so be it. If not, it's just going be a show piece for any wealthy man/woman in his 50s. I don't think it was that difficult to understand.

Who knows?

He says, before immediately presuming to know.

I go to a few local cars and coffee, and there's a "collector" around here with a '05 Ford GT that has 9 or so miles on it, but from talking to owners, those owners are the exception, not the norm. And even if they're not being taken to track days, they're still being driven instead of sitting in a garage for prestige value alone, and a lot of people do a little more...spirited driving on the roads with their supercars than you'd think.

But how dare that man, having the audacity to use his road going Ferrari for anything other than lapping tracks.
