I know there's a thread on this, but I figured it'd be easier to organize some games for the 360 version if it had it's own thread.

So who's got the demo? It's great, isn't it? :D

Saw this on the marketplace last night and checked out a few videos on youtube. The speed of the gameplay reminds me of Serious Sam.

It's not that fast. In fact, you can control your character's speed pretty easily from a slow crawl to a sprint basically. And a lot of zombies won't always come rushing at you instantly. I noticed from the demo that a lot of the game's sounds come from Team Fortress 2, notedly the turret machine gun and when you grab something. Not an issue.

The demo, though, is a lot of fun. I put 3 hours into it last night. Fighting a Tank on Expert is just suicide because he just keeps on coming. Also found out what a witch can do on my first time through. Jesus. :D

Reventon, you need to go out and get a headset right now. The game's fun is multiplied exponentially by playing with real people that you can talk to.

I said now!!!

Just played the demo and it's good fun. £34.99 on play.com but might see if I can find it cheaper on Ebay.

I've literally been playing this all day. It's so addicting, because it's always new - the director idea was completely brilliant. You never know how it's going to pan out exactly.

Just when you think you're doing well and staying healthy, here comes a swarm of 100 zombies sprinting toward you.

Exactly! I love how they could pop up anywhere and for any reason.

Good point, but not because I can talk to them, but b/c a headset actually lets me hear them. I seriously think the volume of peoples' voices are just purposely drowned out by the game itself.

My friends and I have played through the demo several times already. The splitscreen co-op is great, and while I wish I had a mouse to (maybe) kill the hunters before they can leap on me, the twin sticks lead to a bit of "Resident Evil syndrome," which only enhances the feeling of helplessness. :)

I just bought 2 copies (one for my friend). First impressions are good. The action is flipping intense and when you get the 'Here they come...' there's a real sense of dread mixed with excitement. The amount of flesh-eating zombies they can get on the screen at one time without any slowdown is incredible and the speed of those things is insane. So, so far so good and I haven't even played online yet!

Then, you better get over to a rental store. It came out today. :D
Rental stores usually take 2-3 days to get a new game. Plus with the NXE happening tomorrow I dont expect to even be able to play on xboxlive. You know how those updates go. So I will plan on playing single player games tomorow or even for a few days until everything is up and running.

Should I get the 360 version or PC?
360: I can play with family members and have surround sound
PC: It would freeze time to time because of Horde and free Internet Play.

If it's going to freeze, no sense in buying it for the PC then. I need to get my gaming machine's internet up so I can start playing. I love how folks are already working on new maps & mods.

I'm trying to decide between this and Gears 2. Honestly though, I can't afford either, so it's a moot point.

GOW2 is pretty beatable as a rental. I'm still waiting to buy Saint's Row 2 and Skate2 when it comes out. I'm going to pass on the whole COD GOW fad for now.

I'll probably pick up this game later in the year, the demo is incredibly fun, but it just doesn't seem like a game with a ton of depth.

I saw the commercial for this on tv, it kinda reminded me of Dead rising a lot. Although I might actually go for this. I thought this was a "bargain bin" game for some reason.

GOW2 takes at around 12 hours to beat as a co-op on the easiest level. Plus it has 5 player horde, bots in player match, set bot difficulty, pick map, pick gametype and much more. Plus it will take you a very long time to get 100,000 kills for the Seriously 2.0 achievement if you like going for that sort of thing. I currently have 4,600 / 100,000 kills.
L4D can be beat in under 2 hours.

No, it can't unless you're playing on I-suck-at-this-game-really-bad, easy mode throughout the whole game.
Each scenario takes 45-75 minutes, and there's 5 scenarios. That's 3 1/2 hours at the least. Play it on Expert, and no one will be beating Left 4 Dead in anywhere close to 2 hours. Try, maybe 12 hours at the least. It's incredibly hard and requires more teamwork than nearly any kind of game I've seen put emphasis on.

Plus, the game has major replayability since the AI director always chooses different outcomes in levels.

See I was being fair. I was saying if you put both games on the easiest difficulty you can get through L4D in 2 hours and get through GOW2 in 12. I was being fair. Same goes for GOW2. You put that on insane which is the 4th and highest difficulty and that will take easily 20 hours to beat. Both are fun games it just seems GOW2 has a lot more content and its a much longer game. Also GOW2 does not have respawning enemies.

I would say go by preference. If you like shooting zombie-like enemies that comes randomly with three special types of monster. Go with L4D
If you like the enemy tactically fight against you in squads with back up go with GOW2.

But that's the thing. You can't beat L4D in under 2 hours, even on easy. The chapters in each scenario are just long enough to keep the game going for around 3 hours at the least.

I don't see what respawning enemies have to do with this, though. L4D's enemies don't respawn if GOW2's don't. The creatures are just randomly chosen to come in at whichever point the game feels like it. It's just like GOW2. You can be in one section fighting a Tank, and then re-encounter another Tank somewhere else, just like you can re-encounter a Drone in multiple places in GOW2.

Besides that, again, I don't see what that has to do with anything. I was just pointing out that L4D has an extremely large amount of replayability because the AI Director always throws out different outcomes.

Lang warning...

That was gold!

Played the demo and well... yeah, it's not quite what I was thinking. PASS. Might be a good one to get when it's about $20 or so...
