I've only run in practice mode. Fast times are between 1:21-1:22 I think. Online, they will likely be 1-2 seconds slower. I am usually 1/2 second off of my top time unless I get turns 1-2 perfect. The rest of the track I can run pretty consistently.

This is driving the MR2 right?

What's a good lap time around GVE-R for these cars? I need to get any idea of where I'm at.

Last night, the fastest time was Snoopy in his Tuesday car. It was in the 1:24s. My fastest time was in the 1:25s. Snoopy and Baldwin also ran their Wednesday cars. They weren't as fast as Snoopy's Tuesday car, but they were close.

I left after being in the room for 1h40. I had only done 40some laps. I got to thinking, instead of looking at my fastest lap, I should be looking at how many laps can I put in in a given window. My fastest lap is always pushing it right on the edge. I may not wreck on that lap, but I'll wreck on another when I try to match or beat that. The goal (for me) is to stay on the track.

I think I ran 24.0. Mid to low 23s should put you in the front. 22s or faster should be possible.

Does anyone have a Toyota Corolla Levin GT-Apex they're willing to trade? I've been cycling the UCD for a while to no avail.

Yes. My fastest practice mode lap belongs to the MR2. I want to say it was a 1:21.5xx but the car can definitely break into the 1:20s if I hit everything perfectly. That probably won't happen online though...especially after a few laps wear down the rear tires.

Garris' Talon is good for a 1:21.6xx. It was very fast in a straight line during my tests which makes up for the early braking required for a FF car.

I was able to get a 1:21.8xx in my 280z (which I'm running on Wednesday) after about 6 laps in practice mode. After 10 more I couldn't do better than a 1:22.0xx with most of those being 1:22.2xx+.

You have to come in hot through turn 1 and get just the right amount of braking and wheel slip to nail the turn 2 apex at a high speed. If you screw it up even the slightest bit you lose 3/10ths to 5/10ths by the time you reach the tunnel. And by screw up, I don't mean going off track, I mean if you let the car lose 1-2mph extra while braking you simply cannot make it up. I have all 4 tires screaming from the exit of turn 1 all the way past the apex of turn 2...essentially a controlled 4 wheel drift (but not so hot as to overheat the tires). I'll use this approach to make up time in a race...but if I'm ahead or drafting someone I will likely take it slower to save tires.

What I don't know, is how these lap times translate to online. I'm guessing it is a solid 2 seconds slower online meaning i should be able to hit a high 1:23 during qualifying.

I have one, but will not be able to send it until I get home tonight (probably around 8 or 8:30 PM ET).

After testing and with fun in mind I think 73 skyline, is 200, Isuzu piazza, or fiat barchetta

I wont need that AE86, I figured out what I'm running.

I'm running in the high 1:22s in my lobby. Not publicly revealing what I've got yet but it shouldn't be too surprising.

I got in my Celica GTR (ST183, 4WS) '91 and it was at 368 with no miles. For whatever reason I rebuilt the engine and trans and now its at 375 with no miles. I guess this car is a no go? Bender has it up on the first page at 374. Can I get his gifted to me and use that one? I really want to use the Celica

You got it used with no miles? Is it in the OD?

But yes, if you can get Bender's, or if you can get another from the UCD, you can use it.

VW, just to expand on Garris's post, a standard car with 0 miles at 375 PP will not work, because once the engine is broken in, it will go up in HP and PP. I had a 96 Silvia that I wanted to use at 0 miles and right at 375 PP and could not use it either (albeit that was in Wednesday series, but the same rules apply here).

I believe we said it was ok to use a 0-mile car if it started at 370pp for the first race...which leaves room for it to break in.

My top time is 1:22.6xx with MGF '97, but thats my Wed car. Won't say what my Tuesday car runs.

0 Mileage cars have to be at 370PP with no engine limiting. EDIT: Chuyler beat me to it

Diabolic, don't forget to PM me your Tuesday car. I won't post it until after the race.

To everyone else, even if you won't make the race tonight, SEND ME YOUR CAR CHOICE!

And yes, new cars have to be at 370PP. I was surprised he had one at 0 miles and completely forgot to answer the obvious.

I'm simple. It has 22k on it. Haha I'm in the clear. Testing a miata and the piazza now

Wait till you see the hideous paint on my MR2! I love it!

I wish I could find a clean AW11 MR2 in real life. I'd be all over that.

I'm hoping people see my car and think..."Now I want a _____ sno-cone"
When you see the color, you'll know the flavor.

If I'm able to run alone and only worry about lappers... I should be on a 1 pit stop strategy. If I am being pressed...I could see it running to two stops. The stop added 20-25 seconds to the lap depending with damage...have not tested time attaining fuel adds.

I was looking a few months ago actually. Didn't find one worth test driving though. Just had another look and found this one...

Photos are bad but he claims its clean and never driven in snow (a bonus for a new england car).

Yeah it's tough to find clean cars down on Long Island also. The roads and weather just make everything age so quickly.

I should be going for a one stop strategy also.

can i join? 97 Talon, just got it in ucd.

If anyone wants to come practice I'm in my lobby right now putting some laps down.

Yes, you can. Send me parts, please. Oh, and add me (a_garris).

p.s. I have all but four cars at this point. I'm finding it... interesting... how different the choices are compared to the Wednesday series.

I'll have my car by 6pm ct when I get home from work, depending on whether Diabolic gifts me a Lexus, if not its skyline, piazza, or barchetta

Things are looking good. There are only three cars left outstanding.

Just a couple of things for this evening:

I will probably join my lobby by 9 eastern, if not earlier (though I may go AFK). I will reset the room (change tracks) at 9:30, so if you put in a crazy fast lap time, it won't count. Qualifying will start at 9:30.

Please, please, please, don't start the race!!! Unlike an open lobby, anyone can hit the start race button in a private lobby. Please, don't!

The room will be limited to 375 PP and Comfort Soft tires. All aids will be off, damage will be heavy, traction will be real.

When you are done, please exit to the pits. Don't exit to the lobby (if you do, you may be put at the back of the grid).

Just before 10, we'll need everyone to exit to the pits. It will be a grid start. It will be 60 laps. Please, take it easy in the first few corners.

I will be in a bright red Talon. Seriously, I'm rubbish, and it understeers, so I will be braking. Early. I just pray to the gods that I don't hit anyone.

After the race, if you would, please share you cars. I'll try to look over them tomorrow.

I'll post a spreadsheet tonight, after the race, with everyone's cars, parts, points, and winnings. If you can't make tonight's race, you still need to pick a car. You will be allocated money (up to 15,000) to spend on the car before the next race.

If you don't submit a car before the race starts, then you may be booted for the season.

One more thing: by the end of last season, several drivers were taking off their headsets. Keep chatter to a minimum during the race so they can keep their headsets. Since damage is heavy, feel free to communicate during passing so everyone can avoid damage.

With regards to qualifying, remember to stay on the track to guarantee your starting position. Also, I think if you hit start as you are approaching the pits your car will go in and stay in. This might be more reliable than hitting start->exit which also puts you in the pits but may reset your time. Before 10:00, everyone should be in the pits for the start of the race.

At the start of the race. You should be coasting into the first few turns with your foot (or finger) ready to hit the brakes at any moment. Cars will accordion like rush hour traffic so you should not expect to be taking those turns at race speeds. The draft will allow you to catch up and you've got 60 laps to get around cars. Make a pass if you can do so cleanly, or back off and get in line. Cars should be single file by the time we reach the turn before the tunnel...unless you want to continue at a slow pace and/or risk getting slammed into the wall.
