My epic crash on 58 of 60 should be pointed out for awesomness and the fact that miata's car and my car (plus my lower skill) will make for a great battle. I think with tj

Garris it is your series and your rules. I'll take whatever position. Just offering my thoughts because you asked last night.

I think I can catch up to anyone so it is no use asking me that. Is that realistic? Does it matter?

For example, I almost caught up to diabolic even though he was 1/2 way ahead at one point. Just needed 1 more lap. Can't say I know the unknown.

With the cash ill be able to put in the skyline plus the fact its capable of much faster I think I've got a shot at the next track..... Will be practicing round the clock.

I'll add my $0.02...

First off, I'm not sure Geezer should be part of the series. He had lag issues and he was having trouble just keeping the car on the track. In theory, his car should have been just as fast, if not faster than the front running cars and the leaders were lapping him after only 15 laps. That is more than 6 seconds off the pace...and no amount of reward money is going to make up for that.

Second, I am in favor of using a case-by-case approach to disconnected drivers. BTK didn't leave, a network issue booted him. He even came back to watch the remainder of the race. What place he gets, and the amount of points should be determined by how he was running at the time plus some sort of minor penalty. I believe it was lap 45 that he got disconnected. So given 15 laps even with a few minor incidents, could anyone have caught up to him...also keep in mind that he sat on the pole and could run 1:22 flat if he pushed his car to the limit.

Factor in 1 off-track incident costing about 10 seconds (that's what happened to me late in the race). If he could still secure 4th position with losing 10 seconds for a minor incident then I say give him 4th. Otherwise, give him 5th.

The reason I don't agree with the "blown engine" idea of snoopy's is because it will make the rest of the season unfair. The reward system is designed to keep car and driver competitive at multiple skill levels and giving the pole sitter the rewards of losing the first race will put him in an advantage for several races.

Exchanged some PMs with Geezer. It sounds like he has his PS3 on WiFi and he is looking into fixing that. I recommended ethernet-over-power if his router is too far away.

We'll see how he does for the next race.

Sounds fair to me. FYI, my PS3 is over wifi and I've never had anyone say I've got lag. Another tip is to not have bittorrent running or your wife/gf/kids watching netflix or something in the other room. The game doesn't require lots of bandwidth, but if packets get hung up it can ruin everyone's race as your car darts around the screen.

I'm uploading a video now which shows Geezer's car all over the place.

I have read that it is latency, not wifi v wired. Voice chat apparently uses up a lot of data too.

As for the disconnection issue, chuyler, here's a hypothetical for you. What if I had pole with 1:21 and was winning the race by a wide margin (kinda like you), but "accidentally" crashed at the end and got 10th? Would I still have received 1st place? I reckon it should be my decision to purposely throw away a race, no?

This race series definitely makes DNFs interesting...

The ideal real life answer doesn't apply due to the reverse payment system. I'm fine with either ruling, 7th gives me more cash, 6th gives more points.

I'm also over wi-fi, and my connection was rock solid last night. I'll probably watch some of the replay tonight and try to come up with a game plan for my upgrades.

Maybe DNFs should pay out a flat amount, not based on position? It would limit "gaming" the DNF ruling. Also, maybe some "participation points" could be given to everybody who starts, but finishing points are awarded separately.

How embarrassing is that?...lol

With a 55 second lead I did crash. I locked up all 4 wheels in a cloud of white smoke. When the track cleared I got back to driving and the next lap I was about 42 seconds ahead. My crash wasn't a spectacle, I saved it before hitting the wall...but it is something that could happen to anyone in the lead running quick but not dangerous laps.

So that's why I mentioned adding in a minor off-track incident to the times BTK was running to determine whether 5th place could catch him. If you think it would be safer to add 45 seconds to his time instead of 10-15 for a damage inducing accident and subsequent pit stop then we could discuss that if you want...but I'm not sure how many cars were within 45 seconds of him. I'd venture to guess it is still just that 5th place car, maybe 6th place. It certainly wouldn't have put him in last place though.

Most of it was lag...although when i went by you had obviously misjudged the hairpin brake zone.

Don't take it too hard. I've raced in chuyler's public rooms a few times and was the guy that was "all over the place".

Sometimes its just a bad day to race.

DNS's got 15,000. I could see DNFs getting 15,000, but they at least attempted the race, so they should get something more than the DNSs. Maybe two points to everyone that starts the race.

I was wondering instead if we should give half points for a DNF after trying to assess the position they could've comfortably defended (I'm still willing to bump BTK down a position or two).

Yeah, I have no problem bumping BTK down if Snoopy, Booch, or Dikarika think they could've gotten close to him (or if they did get close to Diabolic).

That was a nice crash! I had a good view, but a lap down. 👎

Just a thought on the dnf
It could be possible to award them a reasonable place where they should have finished, but not bump anyone down. For example just award two people fourth place since one finished in fourth and we believe its fair to say a dnf would have gotten fourth if they would have finished.
Just a thought

I'll happily take 5th place credit with 4th place points.

Video of the first few laps from the front. I really think BTK could have taken off with the race. He had a sizable lead early on but fell back. At one point I think he let diabolic by intentionally and that really caused him to lose ground to me.

Wow I was completely missing the braking point on half the corners......

It was all about braking early and getting the fastest exit speed possible. 1-2 mph difference exiting the hairpin was equal to about 1 second by the time you reached the final turn. Entry speed is important too, but not nearly as much. I saw more people braking too late than anything else. It is clear that the FF cars had trouble pulling the car into the apexes...but they could be reckless getting on the throttle exiting turns without fear of oversteer.

For any night owls, ill be in my lounge testing for next Tuesday at 10:45pm CT tonight. 30,000 to spend, lots of options to improve upon!

I can test out my 1,000cr worth of upgrades!

Nothing for me to test. The 1:10s I was running after the race last night is what I'll be running on Tuesday. I'll be interested to see what people put down with their new mods. I might have a chance at placing well if I can draft a little.

Weird, I don't remember having damage on lap 11. I know I spun and took heavy damage around lap 27, or did I mentally block this?

You were going pretty fast for the amount of damage the game showed. Might be a glitch in the replay.

I think it may have been related to Geezer's glitch early in the race. If you watch my view you should be able to see his car appear to collide with mine and then go flying off, but I can't verify that; I didn't save the replay.

Snoopy...That is because Cujo intentionally pit maneuver me on the lat corner to avoid getting lapped. I had three corners of damage and a broken engine. I lost nearly 15 seconds in the last lap. Up to that point...I ran low 1:24s from lap 43 to the end of the race with a couple 1:23s sprinkled in.

Yeah, I have no problem bumping BTK down if Snoopy, Booch, or Dikarika think they could've gotten close to him (or if they did get close to Diabolic).

Again...the final time between myself and others is skewed because of the wreck I was intentionally dealt in the final corner. Also,if anyone thinks they could have caught, passed/beat BTK...I'd watch the replay. He was waiting for me at most every straight to pull me back after I was dropped. Had he wanted...he'd have lapped us all save for Chuyler. If you have any thoughts otherwise...watch how far ahead Wiifreak will be in tonights race using the same MGF

I did pit manuever, brotherly love, I had to throw the car at him! Im glad it didn't cost a position though as I had no idea how close his nearest competitor was.

I hope that was just for fun, brotherly love from the twins...wouldn't like to see that happen to anyone in contention for their position.

Snoopy closed to within 7 seconds bro. If there was another lap...I'd have lost 40 seconds easily.

EDIT: I presume it was in good fun as he knew that my race was ending that lap...Or did he?
