Super excited! Good to see my practice laps are up to par also. I looked in the thread from last season, and hopefully picked up a few pointers...

Also, I think I'm driving the first FF car of the series. ;)

*edit*
Nope, I forgot those crummy Talons are FFs also. They look like RWDs, but they ain't.

My car is FF also. But it's a secret until race time.

Oh, I'd like to ask this before next week:

When our tires "upgrade" next week, are we allowed to "stagger" our tires between the new and old? (example - Sports Hard up front & Comfort Soft on Rear)

Or must front and rear match? I only ask because this can help tune under or over steer out without buying aero or shocks.

Good luck everyone
Still disappointed I can't make it but I'm sure we can all agree work is more important. Even if they lie about when they'll change your schedule.
I'll be there next week

In my experience it's never been faster to run different compounds front and rear. There is too big a difference between the compounds, especially between types.

I'm not sure if it's allowed or not.

Ack, double post.

Damn. Wish I didn't miss out on this one.

Time to hit up the used dealerships!

I dont think different compounds is dis-allowed...but i dont think it will help you much. You would be sacrificing corner speed for stability.

Qualifying starts in 2 minutes. I'm guessing you won't make this race, but if you can get me your call details by the end of the race, you can make the second race.

Couldn't make it since both of my cars gained some 30-40 pp with the damn refreshes. :P

disinfected

If you can't find anything.
I have a few I could send you: the Toyota I'm running or a talon

Just leaving the phillies red sox game and I'm uncertain of my car choice. But, I do have a tingly feeling about the 98 miata. So that will be my car. If I get home in time I might hop in to spectate the end of the race. Good luck everyone

I'll be sure to thoroughly test that this week... ;) I've done it before, with no complaints, but that was before the latest patch.

Great race had by all. I'm happy with my 7th place finish (6th on the course, but +1 after the "penalty" finish of 4th for the MGF), but I probably would have run better without my first lap damage. :(

I'm more unhappy that my car and Snoopykuan's are almost the exact same color.

Here is the link to the standings.

V-Dub, I hope I got your car right.

I'm a bit bummed. With BTK in toe...I was running 1:22s and w/o him 1:24s. I think in 17 laps if we gained a second a lap...catching Sl3ightaru was possible. Oh well...I'm happy to have a couple thousand more to play with for next week.

Can we still join in? Would enjoy a tuesday race..!

Had a good time except for the disconnect. My psn is down for some reason, so I'll share tomorrow.

The rules state that the highest tire compound allowed is sports hard. So I think different compounds are allowed.

I tried running different compounds front and rear on Tsukuba after the race and was .5s off running the same compound all around.

sport hards for next race?

Very exciting race for the first 20 or so laps! Several lead changes at the front between Sl3ight, BTK, diabolic, and myself. I think the MGF and the MR2 were perfectly matched. BTK put a qualifying lap down that was 3/10ths quicker than mine but during the race we were running similar laps. I pulled off a few low 1:22s without the draft but I was mostly running high 1:22-1:23 with a 1:24 here and there.

Bowtie, I watched the first few laps of the replay and your brake pedal was sticking slowing you down on the front straight. I first noticed it after I had pulled away from you and sl3ight.

By the way, for next week, your target is 1:10. That's what I can run in the MR2 with nothing installed on SH tires. Find parts and a driving line that will allow you to run faster than that and you'll have no problems beating me. I'll be working pulling off a 1:09 if it is possible (i think it might be). Here's a tip...research and master trail braking. It is essential for carrying speed through the hairpins.

I'm excited about last night. I didn't wreck at all, and only went off track a couple of times. At one point, I was even closing the gap between me and Dikarika.

I was looking around the forum and found a series with reputation rules: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=204892 . I like it. I would probably add something like, other drivers have the option of awarding another driver a reputation point. The idea being, if they see someone making an effort to pass cleanly, or someone giving back a position.

Just an idea for next season.

Something I'm going to add to the rules:

"Drivers that are disconnected will be awarded the highest position they could have reasonably maintained until the end of the race."

Something else to consider for next season: should drivers be awarded a point or two for actually finishing the race? In this case, BTK would've received 4th, but not the extra point or so for finishing the race.

I don't like the disconnected rule. It diminishes the people down the grid's efforts in racing. A more fair way would be to give the credits but not points to disconnected people. Even though it is not their fault, they still did not finish the race. In no real racing would a non finisher receive higher points than a finisher.

Edit: got interrupted. I think the OLR states that we should never purposely quit a race, so if there is horrible lag, one should ideally park the car in a safe location. In such cases, those guys should get whatever the game say their place is. In case of disconnect, those guys should get even lower than the guys who park. After all, no one can predict the alternative, right? I'm not writing this because I got a one-spot bump up from BTK's disconnect, but just that I think this is the most equitable manner. Not to be picking on BTK either. I think he should get the max credit available. No reason to punish him with a lower credit just because he got disconnected and he is fast. If he wanted to finish 10th in the race, he could have done that also.

On the race, I made a mistake on lap 2 running wide before turn 2. Lost like 10 seconds to Booch. Took me about 10 laps just to catch up to Booch. I could have run with sleight/BTK/Diabolic, since I qualified 0.1 second behind Diabloic. Could have benefited from the MGF's tow!

Otherwise, I was pretty much by myself. Tsukuba should have more traffic for sure.

Garris, ran behind you for a few laps. You were doing fine.

I noticed some lag coming out of the tunnel for a few laps--like my screen would get real pixelated. I think this was before geezer left. Did anyone else see that too? No issues after geezer left.

And I do agree to a point. The problem is, the network is very much so out of our hands.

Mind you, I would be more than happy if the game had the option to enable mechanical failure (so stay on top of maintenance). I would also like it if you have a crash bad enough then you have to retire (and if it is particularly bad enough, then you miss the next race or are dead all together. :P )

Garris, the problem with awarding a non-finisher points is that it opens up to gaming the system. I passed Sleight b/c he pitted. I could have just turned off my PS3 at that point. Not saying that anyone did that last night, but too much discretionary calls usually lead to more gaming of the system.

I was thinking about that. There was a point where Cujo firmly believed that he was going to overtake me and beat me. And he was closing for a while (there were also a few laps when I was closing the gap between me and Dikarika). If I had disconnected at that point, then I think it would've been fair to say that wasn't reasonably assured that position. BK didn't get fourth because that's where he was (and he may have been in third at the time he was disconnected). He got fourth because, last night, it was evaluated that fifth was too far away to catch him even if he drove conservatively.

I did pit, and Cujo passed me. I chased him down and passed him. I finished ahead of him. So it is a good thing I didn't get disconnected.

I tend to like the rule of erring in favor of the ball carrier. In this case, erring in favor of the car on the track. If fifth thinks he had a reasonable chance to overtake BTK, then I would think it fair bump BTK down a position.

So, do you think you could've caught him?

Booch, do you think you could've caught BTK?
