If you had your car shared, I've looked at it. You can take it down and tune it up.

I knew u were done chief. I wouldn't want the rath of Diabolic if he'd lost positions. Next race ill just make sure to be out front.

And boom goes the dynamite

How about just no pit maneuvering ever.

Play like this: If you wouldn't do it in real life, don't do it in the game.

Yeah, I was nowhere near catching even Booch (the guy ahead of me). Watching the replay, I could have probably laid down some quicker laps (Diabolic in the same 206 had a faster quick lap). Also, I ran too long on bad tires. I should have pit with Booch instead of passing him in the pits, and having him charge back up to me with fresh tires. :(

Learn as I go. Now to figure out a good way to spend 15k...

How good is Diabolics 206?!? I just went to his house and put the thing around GVE-R in 1:22.8.......me folks, not nik or chuyler, me. RIDIC

Damn! Missed it when I finally found a car. No luck this week!

In online lobby or practice mode?

How rubbish am I.

After spending 20K in a couple of different ways, I just can break into the 1:10s. Most of my laps are 1:12 +/- 0.5, though.

Even if I could maintain 1:10s, my tires won't make 20 laps. 3 pits stops is an entire lap.

I got my upgrades squared away, and I'm pulling 1:09-1:10 easily. However, just like you, my tires are getting shredded by about lap 20 (lap 15+ all sucks, honestly...)

I think this is going to be a very hard test for the FF contingent, the FR/MR guys will probably have more even tire wear, but we're gonna have some issues.

Nice! It sounds like the rewards are right-on for you if you can run 1:09. That will put you ahead of me while your tires are fresh...but I'll be lingering back there waiting for anyone to make a mistake.

I've got the skyline down to 1:10.5, but saving tires puts me at 1:11.5

i'm right around 1:10 with the medium turbo, i haven't tested out weight reduction 1 + other mods yet.

I ran 8 laps yesterday online in my own room after the upgrades and I pulled down a 1.08.395. I think I may dip into the high 1.07's if I have time to practice. Out of those 8 laps I spun on 2 of them. I lack consistency as I've only ran about 15-20 miles in this car since I bought it. If anyone opens a practice room post it in here. Ill gladly, join. Its too boring all by myself. 8 laps and I called it quits last night.

Anytime I'm in my lounge, feel free to join me. I never do practices offline.

Okay, I feel like such a moron sometimes.

I have 20K to spend. First time out, I decided to try the high range turbo. It is a nice, even 20K. The car was faster with it then without, but the understeer was just monolithic. And it didn't break into the 1:10s.

I played around with some other intake/exhaust modules. I set aside just a little bit of cash for one of the options you can't purchase on the track. With that, I just did break into the 1:10s, but most of my laps were in the upper 1:11s and lower 1:12s.

Today, spend that last little bit and go back to the track. I don't expect a lot of difference, but... wow... The first three laps were all 1:10s.

It was then that it dawns on me that I was only planning around 15K. For some reason, I had that number in my head. I spent money on intake/exhaust and set aside the difference between that and 15K.

So, I bolt on the low range turbo out of curiosity. I break into a 1:09 on the first lap. The four after it are all 1:10s.

I'm going to go back and double-check my math. And I still don't know if the low range turbo is the best place for the 5K. But... wow, that is exciting.

Now, just don't hit anyone when I'm racing in a pack.

Don't underestimate the mid-rpm turbo. It may not look good on paper, but with your car's high gear ratios, it will give you tons of torque for pulling out of those hairpins without sacrificing hp needed for top speed. When you don't have a custom transmission to run tight gear ratios, the mid-rpm turbo is usually far better than the high-rpm turbo. I've never had luck with the low rpm turbo.

Were you ever able to get that replay to load? If you can get it working, I can send you a replay of Tsukuba in your car for a reference point to brake zones.

Thus far I've gone with the "cheap upgrades that give a big return". I coupled those with a weight reduction and a LSD upgrade. It seems to be working pretty well, but I'm unsure if the LSD was really worth it. Hopefully its giving me more traction coming out of the turns, reducing my understeer...

I probably should have tested before buying such a big item, but I'll stick to my guns and hope I keep with the pack. The big factor is going to be traffic, the course being small and tight, its going to be amazingly tough to stay clean. Also, I think the RWD and FWD cars will have slightly different racing lines around the hairpins, which should be interesting...

I also went for LSD and I don't think it was worth it. I think ill be in 7th or 8th

It is going to be very tough to race clean, especially when lap traffic comes into play. Drivers will have to learn a blocking line into the hairpins to keep other drivers from ducking inside. Do not attempt a deep outside approach to turn 1 if someone is on your bumper looking to out-brake you. Otherwise by the time you turn in, they will be along side you.

I anticipate being quicker through the hairpins than the majority of the field...however not being able to pass on the straight means I will likely have to wait for drivers to make an error. I certainly won't resort to aggressive tactics right away, but if several laps go by without a clean opportunity, I may have to get creative.

Yeah, this is why I have two Talons. The red one (which is still shared) is the race day one. I've been playing with putting stuff on and taking stuff off of the purple one.

It is hard to be clean alone, I just know I'm going to take someone out. :(

Things to warn others about: I brake very early for the second hairpin. I don't know why, but on that one I take an inside line and brake early. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong. On the other two, I start wide and turn in and leave wide.

Between the second and third hairpin is where I have the most off-course excursions (followed by beaching on the first and last turns). If one wheel touches the grass, my car goes crazy and shoots across the course into the opposite wall.

The last turn is kind of wide, but everyone is going to be feathering the throttle through that. It is easy for your own car to slip a little wide or gain traction and pull a little tight. And the FRs will likely oversteer through this. I will try to duck behind anyone else going into that turn. I don't want to go two wide through that thing at all.

Huyler, I haven't gotten that thing to load. I've Googled for some instructions to see what I'm doing wrong, but I haven't found a site that helps.

It wont be too tough as LemonadePark isnt in the race.

I never resort to anything 'creative' because I'm always concerned the person I'm passing will have ideas of their own. Fortunately the FF cars are more accepting of damage.

I don't resort to malicious or reckless passing...by creative, i just mean taking a little more risk in a brake zone than usual. I'm not going to coming flying up from several car lengths back, but perhaps if I have half a car length i'll brake a little later and apex super early to occupy the inside of the track. it wouldn't be anything un-expected if a driver has been watching me try to find other ways around for several laps.

Just checking but, did you unzip the files first? I exported them to a thumb drive, then i zipped the folder to email it to you. You will have to unzip the folder onto a thumb drive and insert it into the PS3. From there, I'm not sure how you get it in. I think there may be instructions in the WRS thread.

To pull off a pass all you have to do is be faster on entry into a corner :) If you can get your car in front of the other driver, it doesn't matter what your line is, he has to slow down or risk hitting you. If your door to door with someone and you dive deep into a corner and kill your corner speed to make the corner, keeping the other driver behind you, then you've mad a "creative" pass.

Exactly what I was getting at Sohn. Of course, for it to work you already have to be pretty close before the brake zone. There is a fine line between creative and divebomb.

Very very very true, which makes it VERY difficult to pass when your car is slow in the straights and fast in the corners (miata much? :p)

AOK and I have this problem a lot in my regular 450 room. He tunes cars for corner speeds and I tune for straight line. If I get around him, he really can't get back around me without pushing me off the track...and in an unsportsmanlike fashion he usually tries his best to push me out of the way. I have learned to run quite the blocking line when i have a faster straight line car...but sadly, those blocking lines don't work so well when you are the slow car. Getting great corner exit speeds just doesn't give you an advantage over a faster car in the draft.

Yeah, I looked for another 206 with no luck. I still have 550 remaining after upgrades this week, so I could have used the 8k for something else if I had tested first. No biggie though, it might be doing something, I just don't have any way to compare it now... :dunce:

If nothing else, it may save tire wear.
