Haha 3 dollops of mayo can't be good for the ol'stomach. Great post though, makes me kinda hungry.. :D

I'm about to make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. With strawberry jam. It's a triple decker, too. I'll try and make another later, with pictures. Or would you rather see some more advanced recipes? Sorry, I'm great at spreading icing on Toaster Strudles, but I'm out of strudles.

Ohh come on! you gotta post some pictures of the process, at least :D

Btw, you know Jordan is getting it good when YSSMAN is the only non-premium member to have posted here :D

Well, a whole 2 hours at school really takes it out of you, especially when you just ate lunch prior to class. But I'm always hungry! Enter Keith's Spectaculicious Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

___

Every now and then I actually think about saving money. So I decided I'd forego the three MacDonald's' I pass on the way home from school and make myself something good--Keith's Totally Radilicious Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. With strawbarries. (Yeah, the name isn't set yet. Who cares?)

You'll need:

- A plate. (A must for amatuers)
- A knife (Again, use caution. Don't want to split any wigs)
- Some bread. (I like white bread, because I'm an average dude)
- Peanut Butter. (Face it, JIF pwns)
- Jelly. Strawberry. Smucker's.

The hotness...

After you've taken a big whiff of fruity perfection you'll need to pick out three slices of bread. I like to lightly toast two of them.

When the bread is done--remember it shouldn't have changed color yet--take the ol' knife and scoop a goober out, and smoothly spread it all over.

You can use however much PB your heart desires.

The knife MUST be clean before the jelly gets a turn...

...and you know how to clean it. Mom always told me I'd cut myself. She lied! Or maybe I'm just badass, I don't know.

The jelly is so good you just have to have a giant glob. Might as well just turn the bottle over and let her flow!

But don't forget to spread it. Look at those strawberries...

Now the assembly begins. The two toasted and slathered slices go on either side of the soft middle slice. They provide structure, so your fingers don't break through and get all goopy. Smart, eh?

Now you have to decide which flavor you want. A sweet rush or a smooth, creamy delight? Either is alright, so have at it!

Yeah.

Anyway, great thread. Now, if we can get people to give away samples...

Ok, I haven't complained about this to anyone but my wife yet, so you guys get to hear it. Who knows, maybe one of you is also affected.

The Backstory

There is no good place to go near our house for good Chinese food. It's a big portion of our diet that's missing and it ticks me off. There are several chinese places nearby, but they're horrible. That leads us to a problem. How do I get good chinese food?

Recently I discovered at the grocery store that they had a packet of what was called "World Traveler Orange Chicken". It was a bag of frozen fried chicken balls with some orange chicken. I bought it, made some rice, and I had a really good chinese meal. Over time, I improved the meal by adding a rice maker to make good sticky rice, I added frozen veggies, bean sprouts... suddenly I wasn't missing chinese restaurants anymore....

The Problem

...until the grocery store ran out of stock.

So the next time they stocked it I bought three.

But that was the last time I ever saw them at the grocery store. Needless to say I ran out. I got a tip, though, that costco was selling something very similar called "Manderin Chicken". I promptly bought a costco membership and loaded up.

...the last two times I went to costco they didn't have it stocked.

Now I have a ricemaker I don't need, a costco membership I don't need, I don't have any chinese food, and I'm sad and lonely. :( I've tried a teriyaki mix with leftover chicken mixed with veggies, sprouts, and rice... but it just isn't the same.

Why not buy a chinese cook book..........or a chinese cook.

But make sure its a westernise chinese cook..LOL..

cause a real chinese cook won't know how to cook orange chicken..:dopey: \

Anyways, i assume the rice maker thingy is a rice cooker? Rice cookers are bloody useful...and convenient.

This sounds good, but I haven't tried it.

Chinese Orange Chicken

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup white cooking wine
1 1/2 cups hot chicken broth
3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 egg
1 cup cornstarch
Oil for deep frying
2 cups sliced green onions
16 small, dried hot peppers

Mix cornstarch with water. Add garlic, ginger, sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce, vinegar, wine and chicken broth. Stir until sugar dissolves. Refrigerate until needed.

In a separate bowl, mix chicken, 1/4 cup soy sauce and white pepper. Stir in egg. Add 1 cup cornstarch and mix until chicken pieces are coated evenly. Add about a cup of oil to help separate chicken pieces. Divide chicken into small quantities, and deep fry at 350 degrees F until crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Place a small amount of oil in wok or large skillet and heat until hot. Add green onions and hot peppers and stir-fry briefly. Stir sauce and add to skillet. Place chicken in sauce and cook until sauce thickens. Makes six to eight servings.

All these PBJ sandwiches. Bah. Predictable.

Try a couple of other items with your peanut butter: maple syrup, honey, or apple butter. You'll never know if you don't try it!! My wife had had PBH before, but looked at me funny when I first mentioned the others , like she was wondering what she's gotten into with the marriage thing. Actually, she'd never heard of apple butter at all.

Stir it together first, rather than just spreading the one on top of the other. And try it on stuff besides bread. Put it on Ritz crackers.

...and how do I accomplish the "deep frying"?

Pan Frying means the food must have a patch at the top that is NOT covered in oil. This is to allow moisture to escape which helps the crust to stay on the food since deep frying can cause the crust to fall off.

Deep Frying means the food is completely under oil. Peanut oil is the best, but not for people with peanut allergies. It has a very high cooking temp and smoking point, so it's clean and tasty and wont leave a "frying" smell in your house.

I use one of these for deep frying...

Cookings pish, as long as you can read (to be able to read a recipe book) you'll be fine.

To be completely honest, until recently I couldn't cook much outside of Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and a Hot Pocket. I have to admit that Alton Brown and the Food Network has inspired my confidence ten-fold, and I've been making everything from roast beef (yummy) and chicken (my own southwestern recipe), and now I've got an itch to make some pocket pies.

But "normal" food is what I do best. Everything from Meatloaf and Tacos, to Broccoli Salad and your average grilling are what I like to do most often, and is usually what the family ends up eating.

I make a mean Quesadilla.

Plain flour tortillas suck. Melt some butter in a skillet, throw the tortilla in there, brown one side then flip it with a tiny bit of butter under it.

Put your meat, cheese, and everything else you want on. LOTS of CHEESE works best. Fold it over and brown until the way you want it. I prefer it to be firm but not TOO crunchy, like a hard taco.

We've got a Quesadilla maker here, and it works out pretty good. Actually makes them a helluva lot easier to do, as I'll often brown up a couple pounds of meat with my taco spice blend, throw it in the fridge, and then me and the family can make them whenever we want. It works out pretty good for a week-long meal that can be made in less than 30 mins, and everyone seems to like it...

I'm good at cooking chinese food. One of my easiest is Bean Curd in Oyster Sauce.

You need:
1 Box of bean curd (the one for stir fry, not the soft one)
1 green onion
4 teaspoons Oyster sauce (Lee Kum Kee's Premium one is the best)
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon sugar
some black pepper
1 teaspoon seasame oil (optional)

Preparation:
-Slice the bean curb into pieces in 8mm thick, set it aside
-put cornstach into a sauce bowl, then pour a little water and mix well
-add more water slowly and stir at the same time, stop when the content reaching 3/4 cup
-add oyster sauce, sugar, pepper and sesame oil into the sauce bowl
-slick green onion into small pieces

Cooking:
-Heat up frying pan in medium and add oil
-wait until the oil is hot, carefully place the bean curd on the pan, you can separate few batches to stir fry if you pan is not big enough
-flip each bean curd when their bottom side turn golden
-place the bean curd to a dish when it is done, and continue to stir fry the next batch
-After finish stir fry all the bean curd, turn the heat to low-medium, put green onions to pan and cook it for 1/2 minute
-stir the sauce again and pour it to the pan
-stir and mix the sauce and green onions till the sauce is thicken
-take all the bean curd into the pan and mix evenly
-turn off the heat and pour the bean curd to the dish, done!

pretty easy and good for health
at least no msg is added :D

...Hey guys, its that time again. Lets make some Philly Cheese, shall we?

n78001441_30217963_1993.jpg

First you're going to need some of these, delicious Hot Pockets. I like the Turkey/Ham/Cheddar Cheese the best, but Philly Cheese is second best.

n78001441_30217964_2317.jpg

You'll also need these:

1) A plate (mine looks fancy)
2) A fork (mine seems small...)

...And of course...

n78001441_30217965_2641.jpg

3) A Microwave

n78001441_30217966_2961.jpg

First you'll need to take them out of the box, since cardboard doesn't taste too good after its microwaved.

n78001441_30217967_3297.jpg

They come in cool little plastic packages, but you'll probably need to take them out of those too. I don't think plastic is edible...

n78001441_30217968_3622.jpg

...Then you need to place the Hot Pockets in their "Hot Pocket Sweaters" as I like to call them, but you can call them whatever you want...

n78001441_30217969_3960.jpg

Arrange them on the plate, give them a bit of space. When they get hot the like to fight... Hot, sexy, Hot Pocket fights...

n78001441_30217970_4286.jpg

Set the timer for three minutes on high for two, I don't know what it is just for one. I always eat two.

n78001441_30217971_4608.jpg

While we're waiting, would you like some cake?

n78001441_30217972_4940.jpg

Would you care for some juice?

n78001441_30217973_5293.jpg

...BEEP! They're done! Be careful, they are like HOT LAVA!!! OUCH!

n78001441_30217974_5639.jpg

Let them cool for a minute, then they are good to go. But you'll probably want to remove the sweaters...

---

So yeah, Philly Cheese!

Awesome! Hotpockets. But why are you eating Lean Pockets, dude? You on a diet or something? By the way, the pizza flavored Hot Pockets are my favorite, but I've still had way better snacks than that.

...I think the Lean Pockets taste better. Call me crazy (I probably am), but the lack of grease makes them a bit better, IMO...
