That is actually our Sun. I took some pics that were shot from space (SOHO observatory). The original pictures were shot in extreme ultraviolet light. There was a total of 4 different images, and they put them together to have a flase color image showing the varying temps of the sun.

So i grabed the four different color pics (red,blue,gree,yellow) and i blended the red,blue,and green pics for some neat effects. i came out with a few a really liked, the one i posted being my favorite.

Here is the Astromony pic of the day page. some really beautifull images (especially nebulas). click on "archive" at the bottom to see older pics. The pic of the sun i used is "Solstice Celebration".
