I kind of was inspired by the older Mac layouts, where there's no real bar with the programs in it, just that one button on the top right where you click on it and out pops a menu of all of the running programs. Going from top left to top right:
Equivalent of "Start Menu", main program menu
Actions menu is a menu that is a list of commands like ScreenShot, Logout, etc
Show Desktop button
Thunderbird email client
File manager
Console, much like MS DOS prompt, but much, much more powerful and useful
Firefox web browser
gAIM, Instant messaging client that supports a full range of protocols, like AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ
System tray, currently only having gAIM in there, maybe more programs will use it later, who knows
MailCheck, lets me know when I have new mail, without me having to have Thunderbird open (Gotta love POP3 servers)
Weather status icon, self-explanitory
Clock, sefl-explanitory
Program list button, explained above
