Thank god its not just me!

I'm on a G25 and its just the same.

I thought this was my poor clutch work but it does seem its an actual flaw.

From what I can tell, the game only registers a gear change if the clutch is depressed 100%, which can be very difficult when your vying for position whilst winding on armfulls of lock and reaching for another gear.

As with everyone else I also don't have horn or wipers mapped as default, and cant work out how to add them in on the settings as the g-series wheels arent supported officially.

Yep happened to me quite a few times today G27 user.:banghead:

Oh and which wheel option do I choose to change the force feedback for the G27, since G27 is not in the menu?

I have chosed DFGT everything works except horn and wiper toggle.

Also i don't know if anyone noticed but if you are driving say the SLS for example and you are paddle shifting you have to press triangle to get it to go in reverse and hold it for gas.. Pretty sucky I wish you could find reverse with the left paddle and use the gas pedal as throttle.

I noticed the 2nd gear issue on the second test in the B license exam, I thought it was my fault since this is my first time using a G27, but the more I've played and from reading everyone's posts regarding the problem, I may not be problem.

I'll also concur on the paddle shifter "overriding" the clutch. I've done it a few times during some harder license tests.

What I figured out, I believe, is that you have to completely take your foot off the gas, hold down the clutch, shift, then replace foot on gas. When I do that it shifts correctly everytime. But much slower than just using paddle shifters. I don't know if that's just my inexperience or if the game meant it to be slower

Yeah I don't think it is a bug I just think you have to be more precise in your shifts.
This is the real driving simulator :)

It works haha ! Thanks a lot OpelGT ;) It's a real blast. I was really starting to feel worried about this but thanks again :)

I own a 320 Go PS3 Slim btw

I'm Happy that I made your day a little better!

In the options go to
Steering controllers
Steering settings (This is the one on the far left)

Here you can change these items:

Steering Type
Power assisted Steering
Feedback Strength

If you click on each one some helpful hints scroll across the bottom of the screen.
I use Sim Power assist OFF FFB I like fighting wheel so it's at 10

On another note when your doing License Test Check the settings for the car as they have TCS on and ABS on. I turn them off.

CONCLUSIVE PROOF Logitech G27/G25 DOESN'T WORK WITH GT5

I'm posting this hoping to save a few people the time of trying to change the buttons on their G27 (and assuming same problems with G25), because you can't change them.

I just spent the better part of an hour testing the following one at a time and none of them allow you to change the button assignments...
  • Options > Hardware > Button Assignments 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > Driving Force GT 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > TTHRUSTMASTER T500RS 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > Driving Force Pro 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > GT Force 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > Driving Force 1 & 2
  • Options > Steering Controllers > Driving Force EX 1 & 2

The way I tested was change ALL the available assignments to Accelerate, then started a time trial in Arcade mode (Premium Car, Manual Transmission). Once the race started, I pressed every button to see if any of them changed (guess what, they never did...).

So for now (hopefully an update will come out), here is the button assignments we're stuck with:

On the steering wheel
Left Paddle: Down Shift
Right Paddle: Up Shift
Top Left Red Button: Rear View
All other red buttons: do nothing

On Shifter
Far Left Red Button & Far Right Red Button: do nothing
2nd Red Button from Left: Change View
3rd Red Button from left: Pause
D-Pad Up: Ghost
D-Pad Left: Left View
D-Pad Right: Right View
D-Pad Down: Rear View
Left & Bottom Black Button: Do nothing
Top Black Button: Reverse
Right Black Button: E-Brake

Some people have mentioned the GT5P fix of using the Driving Force Pro assignments, but as I noted above, this no longer works (why the heck does it work that way in Prologue, but not in the full game!!!).

I'm really frustrated by this as I invested over $3000 in a racing setup and did my research and the G27 was the best wheel, and now the best game doesn't even support it....Need For Speed Shift doesn't let you change the button configuration, but at least it tells me what buttons to press!!

so is it the Driving Force Pro or Gt or any other wheel displayed in the options menu?

i believe it's the Driving Force Pro. You just to realize that the 3 red buttons on the left on the steering wheel all act as one L2 button, and the 3 red buttons on the right on the steering wheel all act as one R2 button. I don't believe there are any options to configure those buttons individually.

I have the Fanatec PWTS wheel and clubsport peddles setup and I am having the same problems with the clutch. It def has to be a bug in the game because i switched over to FM3 and the clutch worked fine. I am finding that when it does freak out in GT5 just click the paddle shifter and it will work then you can use the clutch again but they def need to update the game and get this fixed. I also hope that they add some tuning functionality to the clutch and brakes.

I don't get how the clutch works. I just did an arcade run with an evo x and i can shift without pressing the clutch. it is pissing me off what can i do.

You might want to do another test on your wheel because I just tested my G25 wheel and all buttons can be mapped except the "Start" button (other wise you could get stuck in game). You tested with all set to accelerate (accelerate) isn't an on/off digital setting (I don't think) unless using controller (pressure switch).
What I did was in the option menu:

Selected Driving Force Pro [1] then made all buttons to (change view) selected OK then went into "Practice" and made car auto (because I didn't have a button to change gears with) then started driving.

Guess what every button changed the driving view. So I think that it would be the same on the G27 wheel also.

Could you try this on your G27 wheel and see if the buttons will map to "change view".

can someone with a g27 please help. I am trying to assign the left red button on the wheel the HORN, im not sure which wheel i set it for under wheel options, so I went ahead and did it for every wheel that I could, but still when i hit the top left red button on the wheel it shows the rear view of the car. So annoying. Can anyone here get the horn to work on their g27?

Another thing is for you ppl with wheels, my ds3 controller works, however when in photomode i cannot use the analog stick at all to move the camera and such. I currently have my g27 plugged into the 1st USB port (furtherst one to the left) and my DS3 is wireless and assigned to #2.

Try just changing the L2 button to Horn and see if that works. I think the way it works is that all 3 left red buttons are L2 and all 3 right red buttons are R2. They don't let you customize that... until possibly they patch the game (hopefully).

This game has been in development for 6 years and they have the same steering wheels as GTP! I guess PD overlooked this one. Glad Kaz is a perfectionist!

I've not tried this but I read that if you have your wheel in port #1 using the XMB go to controller settings and change your wheel to controller #2( use the buttons on the wheel to change " this controller") then your wireless controller will default to #1. Just remember that your wheel will still have to be in port #1. I did do this on my wheel but didn't try anything except menu and both would move around menu just fine and the wheel worked.
If you get it to work this way let others know. I've never messed with photomode even in GT4 because of the wheel.

The top right button on the steering wheel lets you turn off your high beams when driving at night

Opelgt1969 okay that fix the problem, now i can use my ds3 to control the menus which makes things a whole lot easier. But the horn still doesnt work on my G27 wheel. Sigh

Which wheel do I need to edit? Driving Force Pro 1 or 2?

Driving Force Pro 1.

Dumb question here but we might have to buy a horn before we can make it work. I seen where you can buy different horns so maybe it's like the real world extras cost extra.

I can't get any aspect of my wheel to work. When I start up GT5 my wheel does its spin in both directions and the light is on on my shifter. Then if I switch the sixaxis to controller 2, I have no way to navigate through the GT5 menus as the D Pad as none of the buttons or D Pad on my shifter do anything.

I have tried restarting multiple times. I've tried starting a race with the sixaxis as controller #1 then raced with the wheel instead and a couple times it worked briefly then stopped and sometimes it does nothing.

Help!

Hey guys, I'm having some major trouble with my G27 Shifter and going by the GT.com forums I'm not the only one. Basically, the game struggles to register 2nd gear. I thought it was me just being to quick on the gear change or not pressing the clutch in enough but I have been testing it and it keeps happening. Basically, when starting from a grid I leave the grid in 1st, lift off the gas, press in clutch, move the shifter to 2 and then the car just goes into neutral. I have to have two goes of getting the car into 2nd before it works. After that the car is fine and I can shift up though all the gears. If I am on a 1st gear corner and when I exit I go to switch up to 2nd the same thing happens, I have to have another go to egt it into gear. When coming down from 4th, 3rd or whatever when I reach 2nd again the same thing happens and it sticks in neutral. Like I said I tested it our on all the cars I have online and offline and its the same all the time. I bought the G27 for GT5 and am very annyed with it now. Can't belive Logitch's most expensive and comprehensive wheel isn't officially supported. Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem with the Fanatec Wheel and Pedals. Definitely a flaw that needs fixing IMO.

Don't know about the Fanatec Wheel, but with the G27, I and a number of others really don't think there is a flaw here. You just have to shift it perfectly, like a real car, or it won't work. Once you get the hang of it then you never have problems.

I thought the 2nd gear was broken too, but I corrected my bad shifting that I picked up from GT5P where it didn't matter if you hit the clutch or not.

I'm new to the G27, first time using it today. I was wondering about the force feedback. It's almost like you can feel the mechanical gears in the wheel when there is resistance, it's not silky smooth. Is this normal? I just want to make sure my wheel isn't defective.

Any body help I cant get force feed back to work for the life of me on my g25.
It works on every other game I have that support's it but GT 5, what were they thinking to leave out the g27 and g25 out of setting's.

Force feedback does work for GT5. Go under the options and you can change the FF from 1-10.

My G27 wheel and pedals suddenly started working (although the dpad and buttons don't - I have to use the sixaxis to navigate the menus). I raced for about a half hour then the wheel suddenly stopped working again. The LED lights froze in place at half rev and I couldn't even use my sixaxis to race until I exited the game and reentered. Anybody else have weird stuff like this happening?

Hi, Ive never setup a wheel on a ps3 and i was wondering how i can get rid of the force feedback and just have the spring effect? The setting in game only goes to 1. And it still feels major. ?

Hey guys one problem I been having in addition to the control config is that the clutch only seems to work on certain cars.

I went to arcade mode and used the clutch on a Challenger without even having to press triangle like in prologue but then when I picked a Lancer I noticed the clutch wasn't being acknowledged. I hope they update soon...anyone else having this problem?

Please pay more attention to appropriate capitalization if you're going to post here. Just wanted to let you know since you have an honest question.

Serious?
How could a board like this let a moron like you post that many times without booting you into insignificance? Capitalize this...

If the car is semi-auto/dual clutch- one way to find out if you're not a car expert is to use the cockpit view (with Premium cars) and if the driver hand animation change gear using the paddle shifter, it means that it's sequential/dual-clutch/semi-automatic car- you can only shift sequentially ad not with H-gated shifter/clutch. That's how it goes in real life.

The obvious answer is to sell the FFB wheel and buy yourself a non-FFB wheel. Other than that, get used to the minimal FFB and believe me after a while you'll be begging for all the FFB you can get.

Priceless for a first post. See the sign Super Moderator under his name. My guess is that's what he's supposed to do.
