As per the discussion on this over at GTplanet, I'm not sure who's really going to be interested in this.
It's gotta be fairly heavy. How many of you can comfortably hold your arms extended for the duration of a short race, let alone a long session? Add a coupla pounds to that.
Almost certainly limited to 270 degrees. How are you going to turn it further than that?
How are you supposed to turn the dials and whatnot on the face without swerving all over the road because you're now driving with one hand while fiddling with an unsupported wheel?
Who wants a wheel but doesn't need/want force feedback or pedals?
I suppose that if you've got to play driving sims on your laptop while on the road, this could help you get your fix. Is there anyone out there who's desperate enough to do so?![]()
To my eyes, this kind of device is only of any real interest to very casual Wii-type gamers and the Microsoft Wireless Speed Wheel already fills that niche for half the price.
Or perhaps those who are physically unable to use pedals and, as such, have no need for them.
One would think that SteelSeries could have spent the development time & money far more wisely.
I think some coffee came out my nose when I watched the video of that fool actually driving with it, hahaha!
This wheel is for the PC though, the Microsoft wheel isn't an option.
That wheel will work with the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver For Windows

MS wireless wheel + FM4 bundle is $20 cheaper than that controller alone
Forgot about that.
Still, since the Speed wheel isn't a traditional controller you may run into issues.
And the first Microsoft wheel was $100(iirc), does that mean all the Fanatec wheels aren't good because they cost more?
They are aimed at different markets as are the original Microsoft wheel and Fanatec wheels.
