I know the season just started, but it looks like it'll be an interesting season.

-The Sox and Yankees are both winless. :D

-O's are 3-0

-Mets are 3-0 :o

-Mariners are 3-1

Going to be a good year. :)

Have you guys seen this? I laughed so hard.

The mighty Sox bullpen managed to rack up two blown saves in one game.

Unfortunately the Phils bullpen didn't fare much better, dropping a 5-4 decision after having been up by a 4-1 score at one point. So the Phils' inability to win a series in Pittsburgh continues; at this point it's something like one winning record out there in the past 20 seasons.

If you hate the Yankees, you'll love this news. If you love the Yankees, you're heartbroken. Tampa Bay blanked the Yanks 3-0. Helickson won for TB and a Save for Rodney; Hughes, meanwhile, lost
Dosent everyone hate the yankees ha. The last time yanks started 0-3 was in '98. They finished that year at 114-48 and won the World series.
Astros catcher jason castro is a solid player,i watched him last year when he was playing in low-A Penn league (i have astros affiliate in my hometown). I have seen hunter pence and ben zobrist tear up that league before they got a shot. It should be interesting to see how houston does when they move to the AL

Yeah, I think this season is more like a transition year in the sense of looking ahead to AL play next season while still carrying the NL flag for this season. This start is actually more favorable for the Astros compared to last season. I think our first series was AT the Phillies last year. Ouch. I still find it hard to believe the Astros haven't been above .500 in over 2.5 years. This is a good start, but a lot more needs to be done to actually be relevant again. I'm not saying 100+ win Astros like in 1998, but relevant.

Couldnt agree more,i feel like it started to come undone once berkman left.

Arizona has the worst infield ever. Its harder then concrete. Cain pitched good outside of a couple hangers that the D-Backs capitalized on. Bochy made some dumb decisions with the bullpen, which is one of the best in the game especially late in the game. Romo was filthy though as usual, D-Backs didn't touch him.

Pablo continues his ownage of Chase field.. In fact only one hitter in baseball hits better then Pablo there, and that's James Loney.

Today we get to see Barry Effing Zito... Great.. Hopefully Pill gets a start because he oozes with confidence at the plate. He reminds me so much of Pat Burrell, similar swing and a swagger when at the plate with a great ability to read pitches. Pagan needs to pick it up.

Here is a piece on Yahoo! Sports called "Guillen to return to Florida for Castro apology," after Ozzie Guillen noted he loves Fidel Castro:

What do you make of all of this?

Elsewhere... my Astros will host the Atlanta Braves in a three-game set. The big game on Tuesday is the golden anniversary since the Astros' first game (as the Colt .45's). Today is supposed to be the anniversary of the first-ever baseball game at the Astrodome back in 1965. This is going to be a historic series for the Astros with plenty to look back on.

Not sure what happened yesterday, but fielding was horrible for both teams, more so for the D-Backs. I almost turned the TV off after the 3rd inning, pretty glad that I didn't. BIG +1 to Wade Miley for throwing 4 hit-less innings after Collmenter was pulled, especially with 4 errors being committed behind him. 👍

It's easy for Ozzie to screw up because his English is worse than a Little Havana used car salesman. I can see how he was joking around by saying he "respects" Fidel because everyone's been trying to kill him but he's still around. That doesn't go into print very well though. My grandpa thinks he's a communist anyway. He's Venezuelan.

Why does Guillen need to apologize? People don't expect him to put his foot in his mouth? They need to get over themselves.

Really, 7-0!?
This season is going to be worse than last season. :banghead:

Zito was on fire today. He had such good control of his curve.

Saying you respect Castro, no matter what the context of the quote is, is just asking for media attention, especially for someone like Ozzie who pops off about something at least twice a week :sly: Apparently one apology isn't enough and he should just say sorry again so the media can move on to his next quote

edit: watching the Rangers vs the Mariners, Yu Darvish's debut. Not going to good right now for him. Also watching the Yanks vs Orioles and the Yanks are killing them right now.

Game just ended... it was 8-3 in favor of the Astros. The Astros' effort was actually the result of eight unanswered runs. Atlanta got three and didn't score since. Young guns blazing, as one Astros' fan had on a sign. Where the hell was THIS offense last season? This is almost leaps and bounds improvement by Houston the way they're playing so far. Astros cashed in 11 hits and committed no errors. Atlanta, meanwhile... picked up three runs and landed seven hits, but committed four errors. So uh, yeah. We're 3-1 all of a sudden.

The Mets have the best record in baseball.

Ozzie Guillen suspended five games by the Marlins for his comments about Fidel Castro. They aired the whole press conference earlier today. What do you make of all of this?

Guillen lasted 5 days before pissing someone off. Amazingly only he can piss off people who actually want to be at his stadium. Miami PR did this to save face but you can't stop Guillen from inserting a foot into his mouth.

The fact that he is still employed is baffling to me,and im talking about pre-castro comments, the guy is and idiot. And im not buying the whole language/culture barrier nonsense. He has been employed in baseball in some form or fashion since 1985! He knows the deal. Dude is just an idiot, baseballs version of rex ryan

We came out as the Colt .45s, but we ran out of bullets trying to win the game. Atlanta gets win #1 at our expense- a 6-4 win for Atlanta. Eleven hits by the Braves with an error, and we banged out 12 hits with no errors. The Astros will wear the Colt .45s uniforms again later this month. But... we lost this one. All good things must come to an end. Still, we're doing much better this season so far compared to last season.

Oh god. At this point, 1-4 is a lot better than 0-4. At least they stopped the slide!

By the way, my teams:

NL: Braves, STL

AL: Boston, Seattle

Super long game tonight but finally came out on top. 4-0 to start the season for the first time in franchise history. :)

I'm new to baseball, I have it mostly figured out, but does it matter if you win 2 out of 3 games, or is it just the total division tally that matters at the end of the season?

Just the end of season record.

Lmao, that's a good way to put it. At least he won a championship though.

Buster Posey out with Shingles. Oh well.. Get to see Sanchez catch Timmy.

Vogelsong comes back on the 15th and Sanchez is going to start playing rehab games soon. Woot!

One last piece of G-Men news, Timmy knocked a few inches off his hair.

So...

How are the KC fans feeling? Take the lead in the 12th, then in the bottom of the 12th - K, Error, Walk, Walk, Groundout, RBI HBP, Walkoff HBP, Loss

 Yeah... The team they have now and the team they had in 1998... They're not the same. Pettitte, Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and company are not in their 20s anymore. You can dream, though.

Zito was on fire today. He had such good control of his curve.

His curve ball is a wonder when it's on point. One of the nastiest pitches in the game.

That's more than an "oh well" in my opinion. Giants need Posey.

One last piece of G-Men news, Timmy knocked a few inches off his hair.

First he's losing weight, then his fastball slows down, now he's cutting his hair? I've heard that he's going to have to cut back on throwing sliders because they think it'll trash his elbow. Have you come across anything saying that? I'm sure you're one to know the news about Giants staff better than I.

His problem is that he has no confidence in his pitches. If he would just try to mix up his speeds and attack the strike zone he'd prob knock a run of his ERA every year. The best part about his Curve is that fact he can use it any situation, and when he as the confidence to throw it for strikes you see people sitting on fastball 3-1 and they get a Curve and they are way out on their front foot and pop it up to the second basemen.

Shingles isn't a shattered ankle, that's for sure. (Still laughing at Mitch Williams talking about how Posey will never be the same because of a bad knee from the play.. and how he would have knee savors the rest of his career... His knee wasn't touched  and isn't using knee savors).. Yes we need him, but not the same way we did last year. Sanchez is a stud offensively and is getting better and better at catching. We probably have the best backup catcher in baseball this year. We didn't have him last year as he was in A+ (San Jose). He is a thousand times better then Stewart and Whiteside. He isn't quite on Posey's level yet, I doubt defensivly he will ever be quite Posey (not many are) but power wise he probably has more potential.

He lost weight because he wasn't being healthy. He's training better now and eating healthier.. He has lost velocity because he never throws a 4 seem anymore. Its always two seam now. Any time a pitcher does that he loses velocity and gains tremendous movement. He isn't scrapping the slider hes just going to throw it less. He was throwing it like 40% of the time before. Lot of taxing on the arm.
