Lose game one, win three straight, now lose two straight. Bulls:censored: way to start 2012, but at least this is better than the lethargic 2011 season of Astros baseball. Our latest fail is a 6-3 loss. Ten hits and four errors were accumulated in the Astros' latest fail job. The Braves notched on 11 runs and made only one error. Astros get a day off before heading to Miami for three and Washington, D.C. for four.

I just hope the Astros don't f:censored: up consistently like they did just about all of last year.
 
Twins finally got their first win off of us. Peter Borjous hit a 3 Run inside the park home run. Took him 14 seconds to make it around the bases.
 
D-Backs pretty much gave up their 5th win tonight and left with their first loss. They left 11 guys on base and our only run came from a bases loaded walk. :rolleyes:

The Giants were winning 7-6 at one point. :lol:. Definitely an odd box score.

The Phillies' bats finally woke up in a 7-1 win over the Marlins, nearly equaling their run production from the first four games combined. It should have been a good pitching matchup but Josh Johnson was clearly having an off day. Freddy Galvis with another two-run double now leads the club in RBIs after an 0 for 13 start.
 
So one full week of MLB action is complete. How do you all assess the season and your team(s) so far after one week?

I think my Astros are actually playing much better from what I've seen these past six games. We're still seen more like a rebuilding club, but I think actual offense and heart are actually coming out for the Astros in their games. It probably helped that our season started with the Rockies as opposed to some stronger team (no disrespect to Colorado). Astros started out last year with at Phillies followed by at Reds. Our next series is three at the Miami Marlins followed by four at the Washington Nationals. Then, we're back home for three against the Los Angeles Dodgers before heading back out on the road.


Again- what do you make of your team(s) and this season so far?
 
Sounds like last year.
Score 17 runs one day, then get no-hit the next day. :banghead:

Took Kennedy half an inning to settle in, but man do we have a pitchers duel going right now in San Diego.

Edit: And Arizona comes out on top. :)

Oh man the wind was blowing in at Coors field.. Knocking balls down. Felt like SF haha.

The Giants offense is awesome, walking all over every teams starters so far. I doubt our pitching and defensive struggles will last much longer at all. That 17 run games was on Bochy for keeping Mota in after we got the lead. Its funny that you guys never did hit a HR that game though. And I don't think the Giants gave up 17 runs through out an entire series last year yet alone one game. Haha. Our first road trip of the year always sucks.

Finally we get our opening day tomorrow against the Pirates. Matt Cain pitching and hes going to kill it. I just hope it doesn't rain out, probably won't because SF gets half the rain we get across the bridge.

I just want to profess my man love for Melky Cabrera, trying to preserve MadBums no-hitter for diving after that low liner by Colvin. Also would like to point out that the MadBum - Moyer game is the third largest starting pitchers age difference. Bumgarner - 22 Vs. Moyer - 49.. haha.
 
Astros ready to rock away from home for the first time this season. At the Flor... I mean, Miami Marlins for three games. It's our first look at lovely Marlins Park. We're sputtering a bit after a 2-1 start. I think we're 3-3 now. Whether or not we go to 4-3 or 3-4 depends on our performance tonight in Miami. No Ozzie Guillen as coach because of his suspension. He won't be back until the Cubs' series for the Marlins.

Matt Cain pitched a CG SHO.. Gave up 1 hit by the pitcher McDonald in the 6th inning. 0 BB's 11 K's... Beast.

Giants are #1 in NL in runs scored and #2 behind the Tigers in all of MLB. They haven't scored fewer then 4 runs so far. Two things the Giants worked most on the off season was getting speed and taking walks. I haven't seen this kind of patience since the early 2000's where the Giants were perennial walk leaders.
 
Does anyone know of a radio station broadcasting the Astros Marlins game on right now?
Should be able to find it with TuneIn. (Knowing an exact station helps)
 
Tony Kornheiser slammed the NL West during the Over/Under game today on Pardon the Interruption. He talked about how bad San Diego is, how San Francisco can't hit, how Colorado relies on a "70-year old pitcher," and stuff about not knowing who is on the Arizona roster. Hell- the NL West is INCREDIBLE! Wilbon put T-Korn in his place. I love watching PTI, but some of the comments suggested sometimes are just too ludricrous for TV.

By the way, the Over/Under was on how many games the Dodgers could win this season.


Right now... my Astros are gloriously failing at the Marlins. It's 4-1, Miami Top of the 4th. Yankees won earlier today, and the Red Sox beat down Tampa Bay 12-2.
 
That's one of the best things about Arizona. Gives a lot of guys a chance to contribute on any given week. Most of them are older guys that are probably near the end of their careers but we give them a chance to play some ball every once in a while and they come though in spectacular fashion in some circumstances.

With that said, tonights game sucks. Batters are doing their job, pitchers not so much. :grumpy:
 
Happy now, Miami? My Rockets lost earlier tonight to the Suns at home... and the Astros lose 5-4 at Miami in 11 innings. So that's back-to-back times when TWO of my Houston teams lose on the same day. Seven hits and one error for the Astros; 12 hits and 2 errors for Miami. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go break as many things as possible and cry in some corner. Three straight losses for the Astros to fall to 3-4. Meanwhile, first home win for Miami.
