It's fairly obvious that PD is listening to the community through GTP. Just look at the suspended ban on trading expensive cars. So mocking OPs efforts just shows how much you think before you post.

I agree the advertisements need to be removed from the top of the forum for the cars ... GTP has been part of that problem of people buying cars and should be ashamed for advertising that.

PD have got your money through you buying the game. It won't make any difference at all whether you don't play Gran Turismo for a week *sigh*

Why would they cater to people who aren't even playing the game? This is not a constructive way to ask for something to be changed. If he and 20 other people boycott playing, as it has been suggested, no one will notice or care.

I would compare this to a person going before a judge, asking for leniency by throwing a fit vs asking for leniency with a well-thought and intelligent statement. If you are asking for something, it's best you do it in a manner where you appear intelligent enough have an opinion worth listening to.

As mch as i would like to support due to not being able to send cars above 1 million :( I'm afraid i can't support, i'm just tooooooooooooo addicted to this game :D

It is legal to sell codes but not the cars themselves. There should be more emphasis on removing selling the cars.

I doubt Jordan has much control over the banner ads that get displayed.

Websense picks up on keywords, and posts up ads that seem most relevant to the viewership. I don't know offhand how many Premium members there are, or how many people are buying the GTPlanet merch, but I suspect that the banner ads are helping with the maintenance costs (and Jordan's trouble) for running this site.

On topic:

A weeklong boycott will be as effective as the "don't buy petrol on such-and-such day!" memes that float around. Unless you're going to give up playing GT5, you're just shifting the "when" of when you're going to play.

Unless you can organize en masse, and bring it to PD's attention in a form that's more than just not playing, as has been astutely pointed out previously, they're not going to notice your efforts.

Guys, just a heads up, I don't expect to see Krazy back here again. He's just got a warning from the mods.

All you can do, instead of boycotting GT5 is try and get a very very big list together of people who will not buy GT6 ... That they will listen to (If you get the list into the millions)

Now that would be a big challenge in the gran turismo world (because the rest of the game isn't :D)

Oi! Says you; I'm still trying to figure out where I can make up more time on the Nissan GT-R / Nurburgring challenge for the trophy. :P

Very intelligent comparison there. The opinion of GTP reflects the opinions of the community at large. Whoever isn't on GTP is not likely to care about the effects of this patch. Furthermore, pleasing the GTP users is a higher priority for PD as that's the core group of users who obsess over the game and defend it 'til their death. Disappointing this group would result in bad publicity and not just one sale less per user, if it wasn't for the fanboys recommending the game to everyone in their presens then it wouldn't be the success it is.

Now if you use your imagination for a minute and pretend that 100.000 users did agree to abstain for one week you will realise that this would be a major event in the active community. It would probably be featured on the news page of GTP: "100.000 users protest the new patch", linked to a petition where protesters had signed.

If one person sends a very well formulated letter to PD then they wouldn't care a bit.

As much as I may dislike 1.07, I'm not going to stop playing GT5 & trading albeit @ a much slower rate. I pretty much have all the cars above the limit & if I don't then I have birthday tickets for the year the car comes from. Oh yea, I traded for those birthday tickets.

Great idea. Why don't you consider a boycott of GTP as well while you're at it.

I agree with this.
As a public service to all those for whom this message was intended yet who don't fully comprehend its meaning, let me translate.

Get out.

Boycotting doesn't really work for large video game series, since while some people that say they are boycotting the game will do like they said, many will still buy the game anyway because its cool and stuff.

An good example it doesn't work is CoD MW2, which, due to an announcement about the fact there would be no dedicated servers, resulted in the creation of many steam groups of people saying they would not buy the game.

But this demotivational poster, which is based on a real picture, shows it simply didn't worked.

Even if your boycotting consists on stopping to play (which is totally useless, since they don't loose any money if you do not play.) Many people will probably only stop to play for a day or two before playing again.

Boycotting against a videogame? Come on, get real over here...

As far as the rest of us probably know it, those players who messaged PD about their "I LENT A CAR TO A FRIEND NOW I CANNOT GET IT BACK" cases are getting their last stand out of duplicating by far, though they have only three (possibly four or five, depending on your lifestyle at home) duplications they could make before PD decides to put the banhammer on expensive duplication once and for all (as it seems, but it's still unconfirmed).

People are only duplicating X2010s nowadays anyhow, to spread the n00biness throughout the mountain ranges of servers...

It's not useless. If people don't play for a week it sends a message. And in the long run disappointed customers does indeed translate into lost revenue. You can't say it won't have an effect just because you don't think it will be carried out. Sure, you can have your doubts about the dedication of GTP members. Nothing is possible if you don't try it so it's not a valid argument, of course if no one protests then there will be no change (this is what your saying and I agree).

I´d suggest you really do this, as online play might become sharper due lesser users being online ;) So not only the servers will be thankful for that ;)

If you guys stop playing you will maybe even make PD a favor, they could shut down the servers and stop spending money on them, and start the GT6 development, and hype, getting ready for another million seller...

BTW, you already gave them the money, you know?

You should have waited untill after Nascar 2011 comes out lol.
They will see a drop in online use at that time.

Confused, utterly confused by this thread.

I find some areas of GT5 damned hard (impossible even) and was thinking of chucking the game, but it's so addictive Grrr!

I don't understand duping? I presume it means to copy a car? In the dictionary to dupe is to cheat, deceive or mislead also to be a victim of deception.

Can't you just play the game and have fun (sometimes angry fun on my part)?

I'm a newbie on GTP and I've noticed that some of these threads get very obstreperous. It's a game, simply a game.

^ Yes, it does mean copying cars.

If you want to give expensive cars to your friends in future, why not set them to online so they can borrow them?

I had to look up obstreperous before I responded lol but yeah I agree. It's only a game and even though the trade restrictions don't really affect me all that much, I can see how someone who duped and was a regular trader on the marketplace might be a little mad because as far as I could see, cars under a million dollars weren't traded all that often. It seems that you have people who play the game to race and then there are people who who want to trade all day long.

I've played every day I could since release, and I'm not planning on stopping.
Besides, I'm happy with the update, it adds some value back to cars, even though it's too late to save it :(.....

Not playing for a week? all thats going to do is save PD a weeks worth of museum cards and paints to give away .... keep crying or just get on with it .... stop moaning because you have to actually earn your stars now!!
