Super excited for this. ME2 is an amazing game and easily within my top 5 favourite games of all time, and the series as a whole is equally awesome. Can't wait to see how Bioware rounds out the series; being Bioware and a Mass Effect game I see the whole thing ending in a giant boom - literally.

At the same time, I'm not excited about ME3 being the end of the series :(

i just started playing mass effect 1 today for pc :). i'm interested in seeing what 3 does new gameplay wise and graphically.

I would be more excited about ME3 if it wasn't for DA2.
I'm excited for DA2 as well, that hasn't made me any less keen for ME3. Besides, they're two completely different games, that's like saying Black Ops made me less excited for GT5.

Well, it's almost here gentlemen. I've started playing ME2 again to get myself re-aquainted with the controls. This was easily one of my favorite titles. Judging by the ME3 gameplay videos Bioware has released, it should be equally as good, if not better. Any other fans out there?

I have mixed feelings about mass effect 3. Firstly I'm excited to see earth being the center of it all. Wanting to see how the story unfolds and how it ends. Plus the kinect enabled voice command should be fun. What I'm not excited about is this is the last Mass Effect game. :(

Very true, I wish Bioware would have left it open ended from the start. I know it's not the greatest game, but they are really on to something here.

I loved ME1, but ME2 made several mistakes (no ammo required, than suddenly introducing ammo was a key mistake), so depending on how much like the first game it is, is how I'm going to rate it, whilst it is pre-ordered already, my hopes aren't too high, it'll likely be ME2 v 2.0

This is only the end of Shepard's story.
With the universe Bioware created with the ME franchise there are loads of other possible stories.
As the comics and books already showed.
So don't worry I think that Bioware has more ME in store for us. :)

Or they could just create another new series that's just as exciting and compelling.

I don't understand the desire to milk every story till it's dead. Surely it's better to leave some things unknown, and have fun with a new great scenario?

What is DA2?

Gameplay wise, I imagine it will be identical. I was a little disappointed when I first picked up ME2 for the ps3 when I discovered that the Sci Fi rpg I'd been promised turned out to be a cover shooter.

Still, it was worth it for it's story and general polish. I'm looking forward to ME3, but other than a new story and multiplayer, I'm not expecting much of an evolution.

Edit: After Shephard's story is over, I'm voting for a mass effect universe RPG in the style of Star Wars: Kotor. Now that would be epic.

Same here, didn't expect a corridor based cover shooter at all - took me a while to get properly into the game because of that, but once I did there was no looking back. Managed the 'Against all odds' ending first time around too 👍

Demo is out, so I'd like to request that there be no spoilers posted here - I'm not playing the demo for that exact reason, so I don't want to read any spoilers either. If you think something may be a spoiler but aren't sure, err on the side of caution and enclose it in spoiler tags :)

My demo feedback without spoilers.

Single player
There are 3 gameplay options to choose from. I played the single player for about an hour. I started with 2, then 1, then 3 just to check them all out.
1. Action. You dont have any dialog options AT ALL and the game is basically a shooter.
2. Role Playing. This is the true ME3 experience. Full dialog and a reasonable difficulty.
3. Story. This option still allows you to pick the dialog but the enemies are weaker, your guns are more powerful, and the difficulty is very low. Its similar to option 2 but much easier.

Made an adept character and got into the action. The first "level" you play starts rough. Especially the facial expressions and dialog for the characters and the voice acting. Its not Mass Effect at all. Almost cartoonish. Its even laughable in several parts when you see the seargeant floating a couple inches above the ground while walking to the checkpoints. Not a good way to start the demo thats for sure and hopefully thats a very very early build.

BUT, it does get better with the second "level" when you meet the Krogan. This is the level they have been showing in all the recent gameplay videos. Facial espressions are better, voice acting is better, graphics look better. Huge improvement over the intro level. Once I started playing the 2nd level I started enjoying the single player demo. Controls feel great, colors are vibrant, menu system is even better than before. So far everything is improved. After killing and throwing a few enemies across the map I started to get excited for ME3 again.

4 player Co-op horde mode online
I have BF3 so was able to access the co-op with ease. Played the co-op for about 2 and 1/2 hours. My character ranked up to level 9 in that amount of time. There are 10 waves of enemies right now and the random players I encountered were able to reach level 10 a few times. Hopefully willl be longer in the full game. The co-op is a lot more fun than I expected. Especially if you have a couple adept characters on your team. Constantly throwing enemies across the room. lol

Played the demo last night, reminded me of why I loved the first two games so much. Can't wait for March 9th now. :D

The part that surprised me the most in the co-op horde mode was the gore! I was messing around with different ammo type and went to fire at an enemy and pow! Blood chunks and pieces of enemy everywhere! whoa! Then the next day someone was using a sniper and blowing the heads right off the enemy. There was nothing anywhere near that gory at all in ME1 or ME2. So that was just awesome to see. I might have to try the sniper sometime and pop some heads. The gore reminded me of GOW3. :)

Anyone on Origin with the demo? I'd love to hunt some Cerberus goons with you.

Been playing the ME3 co-op demo a LOT. I am almost to level 20 with my adept. Had a great room yesterday with 3 other friends that were all communicating. 4 players total. 2 Adepts, 1 infiltrator, and 1 engineer. We were stomping the 10 waves on bronze so bumped it to silver and made it to wave 9 a couple times. Havent made it to wave 10 on silver yet. Its amazing how much the game changes from bronze to silver. Not only is it harder but the enemies change too. :dopey: Very impressed with this co-op horde mode. I think this is the most time I have put into a demo in years. 👍

Right, so I've been playing the demo.

I like it, but there are a few things that simply piss me off massively. Spacebar-does-everything does not work (gotten killed in co-op too many times from getting stuck to a wall instead of rolling or running the way I wanted), and it being tied into Origin like it is just turns everything into a headache.

$5 says the full game will be the same way and that Origin won't improve in the interim.

The Mass Effect Anime will be subtitled "Paragon Lost" and it's website is now up:

http://masseffectparagonlost.com/

The Anime will tell the backstory of one of the new characters in Mass Effect 3: James Vega.

So fans of the game might wanna check this out. I'm curious if Funimation and EA are going to do a "Special Edition" or "Ultimate Edition" of ME3 or the series and include Paragon Lost in the bundle. I mean, unlike the Dragon Age anime, Paragon lost actually has more direct implication and information on the series, so it would make sense to include it.

I still haven't decided which console I'm gonna get this for. I'll probably get it for the PS3 if I ever get one again. But, if BioWare does a Mass Effect Trilogy Box Set for the Xbox, I'd probably get that and play through all three games and their DLC.

If EA/Bioware release more of the Collectors Ed. I'll be picking this one up later on for sure. Perhaps by that time I'll have replayed ME2 and have all members survive the mission.

I'm 50/50 as to whether to pick this up. I thought ME2 was fantastic and loved the slow pace exploration of the universe. The reviews seem favourable up to yet.

Any hardcore ME fans have 2 cents they could throw my way?

You must have missed out on the previous replies because ME3 is looking epic. Not sure if you know but the demo has a drop in drop out 4 player co-op horde mode which is very addictive. Its officially the most I have ever played a demo. I am picking this up right after work tonight for the 360. Cant wait.
