Wondering because I get black screens with 1.8 and have been reading about other Mac users getting black screens too.

I don't know, everything is so far away due to everything being broken and stuff, it's like 2012 in Thorncombe.... it's awful.

Looks like the damage is EXTREMELY Hefty, will need 3 months of constant repair to fix this crater in the history of Thorncombe.... oh wait, we got a way to reverse all this crap.

It's a mac book only a couple years old running 10.4.11.

*Edit*- tried 1.8 on my dad's Mac book running OS 10.5 and it worked so I bet its the OS causing the black screens.

Go to Applications, Utilities, Java Preferences.

Tell me what Java you are running, cause it could be having some conflict errors.

HAVE YOU TRIED TO INSTALL MODS TO YOUR MINECRAFT?

Installing any Mods at the moment cause it to crash.

Delete your Minecraft folder:

Go to Admin > Library > Application Support > minecraft > Saves and drag that folder on to your desktop, that will mean you keep your saves.

Then go to Admin > Library > Application Support > minecraft and delete the folder. Restart minecraft so it updates everything, then drag the saves folder back in to the Minecraft folder.

Try to start up again.
