That is awesome. Just what we need.

The only problem is that if it logs EVERY change. There will be literally tens of thousands of entries in the log. It will be a pain to go through but worth it. It will also hopefully be a deterrent if people know they will be found out if they greif.

I guess you might have noticed the server is down at the moment. I'm transfering it to one of the machines at home. This is only a temporary test as it's the PC in my bedroom and I don't like leaving it on overnight. It is a quite PC but I still hate trying to sleep when it's on! This is just a test to see how the server behaves on a more powerful machine with a better internet connection because it's been so laggy of late, it's been no fun to be on.

I expect it to be up in the next hour or two.

You can always change the fans in the computer. There are aftermarket fans that perform better with lower noise. I can look a few up if you give me the fan's size.

It says it's SQL-based, so with a little knowledge of SQL I imagine you'd have absolutely no trouble finding out just who's been griefing.

I also imagine if the plain text log uses specific keywords to represent certain actions, such as setting fire to wooden planks (aka arson), then you could do a keyword search in any decent text editor :)

edit: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/me...ngg-redstone-wires-go-wireless-818-819.19140/ looks useful too :)

It's not that. This PC is already set up with low noise and is near silent. Even the most quiet PC would piss me off at night. I hate even the slightest bit of noise!

Yeah, I look through Windows Server event logs all day so It's nothing new. I'm sure there are ways to narrow it down and I'll find them out. I just didn't expect to be having to do it on this server. It's the last thing I need after a hard days log trawling!

I can always forward it on to one of you guys to look thoguh though!

Depending how the plain-text log is set up, I could possibly write a parser for it in .NET :)

I'm having big troubles with world holes, but don't fix it. It's a gateway to let me find heaps of diamonds and the best paths to get them :p

EDIT:
Mob spawns are crazy! I just spent 30 minutes lighting up my town for them to start spawning in 1x1x2 cubes inside my walls!

On greifing: Someone has taken out two wooden bridges I built near the ship. Please get checking those logs so we can figure out who it is

My fault. I had a few misclicks with a lighter that I was trying to break, I'll fix them as soon as I get on...but I can't seem to connect to the server. It keeps timing out. :O

EDIT 2: Oh my gosh, as soon as I typed that I heard a pig oink and I was in. Now I just look stupid! 👎

EDIT 3: Bridges were already fixed, presumably by WallRunner, Cheers. I just made them look a little nicer (added one more row of wood on the one closest to the ship. lol)

Back up now running on one of my home pc's temporarily. It's got more RAM and a better CPU than the old one. Hop on and let me know if it's less laggy.

*edit*
tlowr, what do you mean "missclicks with a lighter"????

BURN!!! FIRE EVERYWHERE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

if it's off peaceful, what do you have it set on? I say that based on the presumption that as far as i remember there was peaceful, easy, normal, and hard. easy meaning that for some reason there were more monster spawns but they didn't hit as hard.

Still does not compute. Why would you be near a wooden bridge, with a Flint and steel, clicking like you were playing hl2?

Near disaster, luckily he didn't see me and go kaboom. (And now for other photos from the server)

And for those who want to know. (Get your mind out of the gutter)

I really love how much the server has grown.

Is it possible to make a larger arena, and give Archers a chance to shine?

Nope. They can hurt you and hurt other mobs but they have been disabled from harming the environment.

Sure. I'm about to go to bed but before I do, I'll unprotect that area. Feel free to expand it all you want but it won't work until I come back and set up all the points again.

On another note, and I'm about to mention this in the server. If you find that the server has gone offline, chances are that I've woken up with a stinking hangover and done a hard shutdown of the PC to shut it up (this is where the server is hosted now). I doubt it would come to that but then again, it is quarter to six in the morning. :p

You guys mind if you did not make it from wood? I can't make use of my Netherrack as a weapon if the wood is going to burn and kill everyone.

I would but I'm gonna be busy taking my laptop apart and cleaning it. Most laptops are complicated to take apart so it would take me a few hours to do.

The server is going down for a little while so that I can transfer it back to the old server. It definitely worked better over here but that could be becuase 2 of us were connected locally. We did have 8 or 9 online at one point and i don't think it was too bad.

Now I just need to find a half decent machine to stick it on and we're sorted. Definintley not keeping it on the bedroom PC. Was kinda noisy during the night and when we woke up, it was like we were in an oven!

Can I ask everyones opinion on something?

Does having enemy mobs make sense on SMP?

I for one, am not in favour of them. Because of my slow internet connection, i have a huge amount of lag. so if a monster sees me, it's already too late. I have been killed several times by this, making retreiving my stuff very difficult, and going out at night almost impossible. In singleplayer, you can easily deal with mobs because you attack each other in the same time plane, but in multiplayer, it's just that much more diifficult.

This is my opinion. please don't take it as a complaint. just an opinion

I think it's more the servers connection than yours, I get the same and I'm pretty sure everyone else does. If it's a major problem I can turn them off.

Remember, if there is a mod online, you can ask them to make it day for you.

I may have a friend (actually two, it's a shared account) join the server sometime today, is there any command ingame to whitelist players Dunc?
(I'll have his username in a little bit hopefully)

Edit: username is ColemanMinecraft, he's a good kid :p

There is supposed to be a way for you guys to promote guests to players but I haven't figured it out yet. Also, new players are not automatically writing themselves into the playerlist so you wouldn't be able to do it anyway! Currently I have to manually enter their name, group and permissions in to the file. I'm at work at the mo so will add him when I can.

Out of interest, has anyone else been tempted to stand on the red block yet?

*edit*
On another note, does anyone know what happened to Magga's church? Looks like fire damage to me. :grumpy:

yeah, but I did it by accident. (didn't see the signs until after I stepped on it). but it took me about a minute to see the result.

and in other news, Brian O'Malley's pub is open next to the Sandstone Hotel.
