Awesome, If only we could get drunk in MineCraft!

I'll add your name to the list then gran!

Dude, how tall is that pub  And I thought the Pyramid Resort was big enough when I built the exterior!

Hey, with that pub, put signs on the outside of the pool table, that's what I usually see being done and it looks pretty good :)

About 40% complete from where I want to be with my huge city/castle. The Castle part is built and 90% done (Still decorating it), and the walls are about 60-70% done, then I have to build the town inside. I'm thinking about making lots and letting you guys fill them, but there'd have to be some interest in it first.

After I get all that done, I have to figure out a way to transport people there :p I'll post some pictures once it's completed.

Have you tried out the high speed link yet? It's fun but really laggy. :grumpy:

In other news I've made a minefield near the red block (works the same way), and I've installed a mod that let's you sit in chairs. Except, it stopped working as of 1.6.

Well, it was difficult to include an upstairs "pool table" and a sprinkler system incase of fire. an issue when you have a netherrack block permanatly on fire!

and if anyone wants to spawn some buckets into the behind-the-bar cellar chests, I'd be mighty grateful.

Hey dunc, why the minefield. WHY? it just adds travel time to avoid it.

You hid them from me! :p
The exclusivity's a shame. I can't afford a better computer (yes, even Minecraft is slow on my PC) nor can I afford an Xbox :(

It's tiny! About 10x10 if that!

Yeah, I tried it out. Got bored after the minute long lag.

Good news, I've digged out an old machine that may be suitable.

It's an old build of mine from about 6 years ago. It runs an Athlon64 3200+ and has a gig of RAM which I am going to double. Not the most powerful machine in the world but it's going to be a dedicated MineCraft server so should work fairly well. I might not even put AV on it!

I haven't decided whether to put XP on it or Ubuntu. Ubuntu might work better but it will probably be a pain converting the server.

You also have the option of tweaking XP to use less memory. I know using a different shell for windows I've reduced the memory use from 260MB to 160MB for a 10 year old computer with XP. Here is some useful information I found online. I bet you could keep AV off of the computer if you scan the hard drive remotely from another computer since there are viruses that come through Java.

It seems like setting it up on linux(note that link is for CentOS) would not be that hard. Since you would have a regular plugin folder like in windows with bukkit. Though you could use xubuntu if you really want to save resources and still have features from ubuntu.

It seems that I can copy the whole server on to Ubuntu. The only thing I need to change is the bat file that starts the server so it shouldn't be too much trouble. Next problem to overcome is that the DVD tray is jammed shut on this PC!

DVD drives are dirt cheap these days so it would not be a hassle to replace it. Have you tried using a paper clip to manually eject?

Can the computer boot from USB or LAN? I've used a LAN connection to install Ubuntu on a PC without a functioning drive before, worked pretty well.

In other news: My castle walls are completed, all the rooms inside the Keep are built (Still need furnishings), and I'm ready to start building houses and such. If anyone is interested in maybe building a small house or building in the area let me know and I'll keep a spot open for you.

Yeah you can easily load up a ubuntu iso on a flash drive and boot from that if you don't have spare money to get a new dvd drive.

The keyword about it coming to xbox was 'Exclusive'. Lately, anything on the xbox thats been exclusive has only been for a short time unless its a full bred Xbox title like Halo or the likes. I am willing to bet it wont be only Xbox for more than 2 or 3 months. Afterall, the 'Sony' branded Xperia Play is getting it too.

For today I noticed that there was mobs on the benches in the mob arena. So I added a lot of torches in a quite uniform manner to make sure nothing would spawn there again.

Edit: Plan on redesigning the whole thing now. Gonna finish the arena area tomorrow since I need sleep.

I'm sad that it's even going on a console at all. In my opinion: Minecraft is a PC/Mac game and should stay a PC/Mac game. I don't know why, but it just dosen't seem to fit a console unlike something like...say.....I dunno. But it should stay on PC/Mac anyway. 👍

Update on the town, Walls complete, castle/keep complete, 2 small homes built, "Ruined Church" built and paths made :D If anyone wants to take a look just ask me if you see me on, or try your hand at traveling roughly 1000 blocks northeast :dopey:

Some mods we might need after you get the server switched over: One that alters the /give command to allow damage values (e.g. /Give 35:8 for colored wool). Still want falsebook :D

Also, what mod is it that pins you to a halfblock when you right click on it? It is really annoying when you're building and get stuck in place, it's also unstable if you click on it more than a few times in a row, usually Minecraft will crash.

If we had the mcMMO mod it would make mining obsidian more bearable. Because it's a level up mod where it will make mining faster as you level up, take falls better, etc..

EDIT: I'm taking an early lunch break before I go back to the arena.

Haven't been online in a few days and wow, the map has changed so much. What's more, I can now dash into the tunnel from my house and head up into the station without worrying about creepers. And where does the 'Citylink@ go?

To another City! (That is empty, it's in progress)

I might set another one up to Wall's new city. It doesn't work that well at the moment though due to lag. Should be better once the server has moved.

Well, I set out with an inventory full of cobblestone hoping to start working on the arena, when I found out someone else, remarkably better equipped, had already started on a massive arena with obsidian. To whom do I have the pleasure?

If it's with obsidian then either wall or nick. I think it was nick. My high speed track seems to have been damaged by the build though. How did that happen?

Just rebuilt the Mob Arena with some help. Looks a lot more awesome and most importantly you won't be burning the place down.

A quite dead chicken after a TNT explosion. It's easy to tell when you see a flashing red chicken down on it's side floating in mid-air.
