DQuan hosts a server for us all here, somewhere hidden in the thread is the address for you to connect to, DQuan will have to mark you as a player otherwise you'll only be a guest when you connect first time round. It's a good active server and will be much better for you to join than create one for yourself :)

Does anyone have any ideas for transporting saves? Because I have one, but I may need another method, just in case.

EDIT: I'm on holidays now, so I should be a bit more active on the server. See in the next 2-3 weeks the mob trap to be finished, the GTPlanet symbol to go up and the Resort and Spa to be re-built. I'll also (hopefully) stock my two shops and begin business. Also, Dunc, could we have a look at the save file with Cartographer, or could you upload it for us to download and do ourselves please? ;) I'd like to find my house from spawn :p (I'm not sure if I have already asked that, apologies if I have)

I was unable to transport my main save from my computer *facepalm* but, I have my latest save on my Mac, so i've created a video of what i've started on it. I found a lot of the iron I have used from my drop mines and from mining out my mine track.

Video: (Yes, I have Gt5 running in the back ground, so you will hear some car noises. Bonus points if you guess what the car is. ;) )

Further Edit: Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world, so when I access or play DQuan's server, I seem to lagg a lot :\

I have average internet, but I may be able to host an Australia/NZ server if needed. I will need some help setting it up of course. And since School Holidays are coming up, I will be able to have the server on a fair bit (Almost 24/7)

^^ I feel ya, I'm Aussie too, so when there's 5 people on it's not worth my while :P

I'm currently living with someone else atm, but once I'm home with mum and I've got a new decent PC, I'm thinking about hosting an AU server myself. It'll have a seriously fast processor and (hopefully) a really good interwebz connection.

I would try removing the usb drive through windows before taking it out of the computer. It is possible you might of corrupted the save file.
 
Would it work across systems? Windows 7 to Mac? Cause there was other stuff on the USB that's no longer there.
 
It should and I think your USB drive might be going bad if it does that. I would run Recurva on the windows system to see if you can recover your files from the flash drive.
 
Can do! Otherwise I'll just download Recording software and film it on that comp (unfinished). One save I've had since alpha. :)

So I guess the Economy plugin isn't working so well. No one seems to be using it. I admit it does require some tweaking.
 
/econ tells you how much money you have.

/pay <user> <amount> To pay people. You can also set up shared bank accounts (I think I need to do that for you) and then pay money in to them.

I bought the game now. I popped in to your server and it looked pretty neat, I need to go ahead and get some privileges though.

I set up a quick server as well, only 2 of us today but the performance wasn't bad considering I was playing on the same machine. I spent 3 days wandering round and only found 2 pigs though, wtf?!

It needs a few thins to make it worthwhile. I saw a plugin that lets you repair tools for money, that is certainly useful.
 
I was wondering if I could put a store at the following location, so behind the map stand at the station. The entrance would be at the larger flat area of the wooden stairs.
Location would be ideal to connect with the tunnel to the dish. I have another location where I want to built a tree farm and mine, so that would make for an easy transport to my store.

Maybe even build the store over the walkway and expand it to where I'm standing in the screenshot?



Let me know what you all think of this idea.
 
Alright, I've made a proposed plan to build yet another thing with my name on it:
Castle Zero. Name still under works. (I accept new name entries)

There's the general plan. The empty boxes are plots of land people can build on, designed on the idea that the back row is the town center and shops, and the other lots are where people can build.

So, please, feel free to change the design, or add to it to make it look less... Odd, do anything you like.

Oh, and I'm planning on representing where grass is going to be, along with a few parapet revisions. And if you're wondering about the walls, they'll be 10 blocks tall, with a design cleanly ripped from Coe's Quest.
 
Lag is so severe now that it really is no fun to play. Had this last night and this morning when I was the only person on the server.

Maybe restarting the server will help?

The connection does seem bad. My remote connection to the server host keeps disconnecting. I'll check for updates and maybe run a cleanup. It is VERY unlikely that this computer has aquired any viruses/spyware as it is a clean install and is not used for anything else. I'll run a scan anyway but this will affect the performance of the server.

How does RocketBoots work? Also, where are people getting these square grids from to design buildings?
 
I think the rocketbooks are limited in use to Dunc and mods. Though Dunc, it is possible to get viruses to your computer if you have a port open. I've gotten ones that were made for java when I ran a scan once.

EDIT: I tried pinging the server and I got a pretty long reply time. From 131ns to 157ns long from each ping. I think that explains for the long response time for opening chests and loading chunks.

Good old MS Paint. Open paint, zoom in to 6x or 8x and press Ctrl-g to turn on the grid.
Your image will look tiny once saved, so I take a screenshot to put here.
