You can get it from the Nether. They are located on the top ceiling of the nether. Also mine the glowstone with a pick. To make glowstone you just place the dust as if you are making a crafting table.

Okay that's what I thought but when I built a portal it didn't work on the server?

Looking at those maps on the last page makes me want to go exploring....

I fixed it. You had it one block too wide.:)

It seems like the server has improved and I'm no longer getting lag from my rocket boots so I think it's fine for now.

Ahhh ok, thank you very much.

I didn't have any lag last night my time. About 20 hours ago.

Seeing as this is a thread also about Minecraft itself, I suggest anyone who wants to play around with noteblocks give this a try:

Noteblock Song Planner

I have been making a basic song that's about 20 seconds long, but have completely run out of musical talent. I tried making 'Starlight' by Muse, figuring out the bass and drums (which is a really, really easy bit), but needed to google the main piano riff. People have made incredible stuff with this program, including Popcorn, Don't stop me now, and the Turkish March (comes in the program). You can even export into a Minecraft world using MCedit...

and that's enough advertising for one day... I just like this program, but I have no musical talent to use it, so am passing it on to others more capable than I

I'm thinking we need some of that. I can now imagine having TNT by ACDC on the server or maybe iron man by Black Sabbath.

^^ I'm working on that 👍

Or, I hope that's alright if I do that. That's why I wanted to talk to Dunc about an area around 600x150 with WorldEdit, so I can build songs and put them into the server. I'm using detector and booster rails, so you ride the cart though the song. :) I had planned that, I think I wrote about it in my last big upcomming post thingi. :)

Hmm, I just made Dunc crash the server. Fun. :p

It seems a 200x600 area of land (over 2'000'000 blocks) takes it toll rather quickly.

EDIT: Apologies to Dunc (and anyone else who tried to log on at this time) for making this happen. I was about to suggest doing it in 100x100 or so increments, just before you hit the button...but I was too late.

What depth is that to? Because 200 x 600 is 120'000.

It was rough terrain. Hilly...or so I beleive. I only saw it for a few secs before Dunc flipped the switch.

EDIT: I'm getting a 'Connection Refused' warning when I attempt to logon. Theoretically just from the server malfunction but I thought it best to mention anyways.

It was hilly so I selected 200x600x20! It didn't crash as such. It just had to work so hard on all those blocks that it just threw us all out. Just rebooting now, should be up in two mins.

Wow it's so big that I can't even render the whole thing!

Edit: Dunc, with tlowr4's project we should install this mod. We can just set the sign to spawn whatever we need for the project without us working out a sweat!

Edit2: I think the server is down. "End of Stream" error now.

I'm at work at the mo. Won't be able to check for a couple of hours. I might install the mod that wall uses and then just fill up some chests with the stuff you need.

*edit*
restarted

Is there anyway to improve the ingame map, its struggling to cover the massive area us GTP'ers have covered!

Lol, pretty low. Athlon64 3200+ 1gb of ram. I think the main limitation is bandwidth though.

DDR2?..

I think I have 2x2Gb DDR2 somewhere - PM me your addy and I'll send it your way..

Cool. Although it's a 32 bit os so java can only use 1gb. Still I could use that 4th in my gaming pc and then put the 2gb from there in the server!

Do you guys know of any difficulties of Online Minecraft when playing between Macs and PCs? I have a mac and I've spent some time casually playing Minecraft. No creations anywhere near the scale of what you guys have done (seriously - wow!) but I have one save that includes a hilltop keep/tunnel system and then a shaft down to bedrock nearby. I did all of the keep/tunnel on Survival-Normal and then my shaft was done without mobs - I just wanted to see what I could tunnel down into.

hey dquan.can you put my friend to the whitelist? he is experienced minecraft player ,so he wont do anything stupid..

hes name: meatstorm

Okay I mentioned this a while back but when I download the link, so I don't have to play in browser, I then click on that download and I get an error saying that java pathway doesn't exist. Last night I reinstalled the latest version of Java and it's still doing it. Any suggestions?

Nope, I'm a Mac user and I play on the server all the time without any difficulties. 👍

No, I'm a Mac man and there's no problems at all. :) You should be running well, if you have a decent CPU. I've got a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and it lags a bit. Easily fixed with the 'Fast' graphics settings within minecraft and some closer render distance. :)

Hey DQuaN, could you please put my friend on the whitelist? He is an experienced minecraft player, so he won't do anything stupid.

I'm pretty sure Dunc wants to keep the 'GTP Minecraft Server' for GTP members. It says it in the title. If the gentleman you speak of is actually a member of GTPlanet already, ask him to post in this thread so we can get to know him. :)

Also I fixed your post for grammatical and punctuational errors. We at GTPlanet like to keep things neat and tidy. 👍

Are you on Mac or PC?
On either platform, simply re-download. If you're on Mac, go into spotlight and search 'java'. Then enter 'Java Preferences'. Within that should pop up some Java SE5, Java SE6 etc. Click and drag Java SE 6 to the top of the list. That gives it preferance.

On PC...ask someone who knows. I'm a Mac dude. :p

👍 Second that.

Also I'm glad this thread has not turned into a Mac vs. Windows flame war yet. I hate people who can't resist saying "LOLZ U UZE MAC" or "ONLY CHUCK BERRY UZS MAC. LMFAO"

Seriously immature.

Excellent, thanks guys! When you guys are playing on the GTP servers, is it just building outrageous creations or are you guys actaully trying to avoid mobs as well?

Both. It just might be daylight for most of the time if a admin is on. We also got the mobarena if the daylight is too much for you and if you want to fight some monsters.
