TimberWSince we ranted and got our wheels, let's band together and ask for PD for carbon hoods for the standards!![]()
Not sure about how they would go about adding them as carbon, but some of the standards already have black hoods, which could be perceived as carbons. They wouldn't have to necessarily change any texturing, just a colour change or even a "skinning" process to the required area.
The ones already with black (either carbon or carbon-look) hoods are Amuse S2000 R1, Honda NSX-R Concept '01 (Including the stock wing), Mugen S2000, Skyline GTR Vspec 2 N1 (R34)'00, Spoon Civic and Integra Type R and the Toyota Sprinter Trueno (S. Shigeno)
Personally, I'd love to see a carbon fibre paint chip, which uses the paintable layer of the car's texturemap as a skin, rather than a floodfill. (I know, but we can all dream,,,)
The only thing I would want for standards is a modeled hood for cockpit view. But at this point any improvements would probably require a lot of time and resources. In the long run we may be better served if Polyphony drop standards for good. As much as I enjoy these faithful companions, their time will come. We shall see.
What's the point? Let PD work on GT6 and GTVita
But, I'm already dreaming with the option to remove the wings. Hope PD read the thread about it as its a really simple thing.
Wouldn't you rather PD spend their time on converting Standards into Premiums (with the ability to change carbon hoods) instead of wasting their time trying to make Standards more attractive?![]()
eddiegThis is a good idea
I was thinking the same because I wanted to see my actual car with a carbon hood
This! I love standards, but making carbon hoods for them is waaay harder than adding ability to change wheels. Some would have to get only new textures, but some cars like Fiat Coupe don't even have texture for hood, so it would require whole new texture mapping.
In other words if they want to show some more love to standards they should add some polygons especially around wheel arches, and make hi-res textures for standards. And if they do this I hope they will outsource this work so their pedanthic modellers can focus on amazing new premiums.
Which is a matter of 3 minutes, no more. Somtimes I wonder what could have been GT series on pc, or what it could be if they allow us to use photoshop templates and load .dds files into GT5 with an USB key.. legions of custom skins, race cars and tuning replicas from all over the world...Carbon hoods, at least the unpainted ones, would require texture work.

This x1000
The last thing on PD's agenda should be trying to make standards look better, they should be making premiums from them.
Ok but are you aware about the so called "6 months and lot of luv" development? To create 100 "carbon" hoods they need about 4 hours. It's just a texture. Yes, I can live without but in a couple of cars would be nice.

I just think that PD should be moving away entirely from standard cars
