Poll's as easy as the question in the topic. This poll comes up after me realizing that I am one of the few people at my school who will have gotten to take an AP course in my sophomore year. I am currently bogged down with work and am taking a ten minute break that started 15 minutes ago...

I took one AP course in my Freshman year (AP Bio), and I'm taking one currenty (AP Euro). I've also taught myself quite a bit that'll never be taught in high school. Does that count? At all?

I'm taking 4 AP classes next year. That's going to suck.

I took Pre-Algebra in seventh grade, and Algebra 1, as a high school credit, in eighth grade. That's the year before my frosh year. To that point, I had been in what was called "IDS", which is one period out of the day that I spent with other "gifted" students, as they called us, doing smart people things. Lots of analogies and classical novels. I entered that in first grade, and left when I went on to high school, being as they have a better variety of specific honors classes (t)here.

Freshmen year, I took Geometry. That's not actually an advanced class, since only the total idiots don't take it at all, but I took it a year earlier than usual. About one third of the students don't even take it until their Junior year. I had advanced Science and English as well. I didn't take AP History because my IDS (falsely) warned that it would be more paperwork than I should have in addition to the other advanced classes.

Last year (Sophomore) I took German, which requires that I learn much more quickly than the other languages, because I have no actual contact with my "teacher." That woman is the ***** of the century, by the way. I had advanced History, Algebra 2 (same basic story as Geometry; there were Seniors in that class, too), advanced Science, and I would have had advanced English had it not been for a moral objection on my father’s part to a certain book I was required to read for the class. I took regular old English 10 instead, and spent ninety percent of that class every day drawing.

This year I have Physics (which qualifies as a Science...I've never been all that great in Science, but I'm beginning to get nervous about some of the stuff I'm supposedly "learning" now), Trigonometry (not as hard (as of yet) as I'd expected), advanced History, and I'm back in advanced English and German 2.

I don't think I've taken anything that counts as college credit yet.

I'm taking three AP classes this year(English, Calculus, Chemistry), and one CHS (College In High School) class. I was really intimidated at first, but now it's not looking too bad. Should get me used to college, anyway.

They call 'em IB around here but I'm taking (Pre, I'm in ninth grade)-IB English and IB Geometry. Wowzerz, I'm smart. Also, like Tim, I have loads of stuff they can't/won't teach you in school along with a lot of political and pop-culture knowledge.

I have virtually no pop-culture knowledge. I just don't care. Other than politics and current scientific developments, I have no idea what is going on. Hell, I have about six or seven people that I actually enjoy talking to. Face-to-face, of course. On AIM there are quite a few more.

Don't have a clue what AP and stuff is, but I am in "Advanced Maths." It's so boring. I can't seem to find where any of it could be applied in real life apart from showing off (Especially in this age with computers and calculators doing all the work).

I took AP English and AP Art in high school. At the end of my senior year I tested for those two classes, and scored well enough to place out of both semesters of Freshman English, and get 3 credit hours towards my Art requirements in college.

You aren't one of those weird art people are you? I live near CAL ARTS, and the people I meet that go there are pretty annoying. My mom used to work there too. I don't know how she stood it. I really can't explain the "artist's" attitude toward life, but it seems to me to be around the same as that of a "stoner." So, if you are one of those weird art people, You'll probably be offended by this. If you aren't, then you'll be indifferent, or might even agree with me. You don't seem like a weird art person. I'm a weird science person. Have I babbled enough to make this ironic yet? I think so.

I remember being a total idiot in high school...

Like cp1=smart people
cp2=dumb people
then theres AP classes in the science field such as chemistry and physics but thats all i really remember.:p

AP = Advanced Placement, DODGE.
My Dad holds the record for passing every single arts class his college offered. Every form of everything visual (which translates into Music and Art being different departments back in the seventies) in just five-and-a-half years. And he's not all that weird.

I'm taking 2 AP classes this year, and I took 3 last year.

I'll probably take an AP Psych and AP English test at the end of the year for college credits.

I took an AP class last year (AP Biology), but not one this year (the only one really available for sophomores is AP European History, and History ranks as one of my lowest priorities). However, I am taking 3 Honors classes this year (H. Pre-Calc, H. English, and H. Chem.), and I took Honors Alg. II/Trig last year.

I wonder if I should take AP Physics?

Taking two PRE AP classes... Chemistry and Physics, and I'm in grade 10. I WILL take two AP classes next year.. maybe 3... then another two more in my grade 12 year.

Ah ok, so that's like taking classes one year in advance. Thanks for clearing that up.

Um, sort of, but not quite. ;)

In general, AP classes are considered one step above Honors classes (AP Chem. is supposedly harder than Honors Chem., for example), but the "big thing" about AP classes is that near the end of the course, the College Board issues AP tests... if you pass the AP test (get at least a 3 out of 6), then most colleges count that as class credits. (And thus, you probably won't have to take that class in college)

Yeah.

In canada, AP courses *after you take the AP exam* and you score a 4 or 5 *out of 5* on the exam, you will recieve university credit for that course.

In the states i think it's even lower.... a 3/5 would do the job.. haha
