No doubt some controversial choices. But I see some of these every day and they all stand out to me.

No flamey pwease.

I'd disagree with you on that. A long overhang looks stupid on something like a... Peugeot 407, or something, but on a car with teardropped rear arches it's vital. You can't just cut a teardrop short, it'd ruin the flow of the car.

Plus, having a long rear end in that particular car obviously helped give it a bit more luggage space, given that it was a grand tourer.

The rear overhang isn't the area behind the doors, it's the area behind the wheels. Would've been better if the wheels were further back.

I'm aware what an overhang is - but it would defeat the purpose of having a teardrop-shaped rear arch if the wheel wasn't at the start of the teardrop. It may not even fit.

Plus, complaining about rear overhang is applying modern norms to classical designs. Judging anything other than a modern car by modern standards is unfair - and a counter arguement could always be that a swoopy baroque car such as the one on which we're commenting has more character in it's teardropped fender than every single modern car put together.

Definite case of objectively inferior but subjectively superior.

Would you believe that car was designed by Chris Bangle? I wouldn't!

I would! Though admittedly it's a fact I only learned shortly after the first Bangle 7-series was released.

Though argueably it's his best work too. The only fault I find personally with the design is that it's under-wheeled (i.e. the wheels look too small in the arches) but then that's easily corrected in the aftermarket, such as in the second pic of the car posted further up.

The Volta concept is without any doubt the most awesome Toyota design ever made. Typical it never made it into the production world... Loving those tyre threads though 👍

There are some very good looking cars in here, great choices guys 👍.
Looks as if everything is being represented.

As for me,I'll stay with my beloved Muscle Cars.

Okay, let's try this: All the fluidity and grace in the world (of which they posess at least 80%) cannot save those cars from their crucial issues: They are ugly. They appear to have been excreted from a large mammal.

A lack of overdetailing or blandness is a requirement for being beautiful, but by no means a cause. Of course, it is all opinion anyways.

So do you care to furnish the thread with any cars that you do find beautiful?

Well quite. And personally disagree very much with your opinion on these cars.

Delighted! Thought I had, actually.

I tend to prefer familiar, well-proportioned shapes. Also, finding a good NB8C picture is impossible.

I agree with all of your choices 👍 Apart from maybe the 355, which I've never seen the fuss over.

The DS is an interesting choice - I find it beautiful, but it also regularly makes "most ugly" car lists, which is equally differing in opinion to the differences we see in those 30s cars posted.

Good choice on the Barchetta 👍 I've always liked the looks so much more than the MX-5, but the concept of the MX-5 appeals more (and they're still cheaper - I can't yet afford a Barchetta).

Yeah, those were basically rubbish pictures. The only way to have a 355 is in yellow, and an NB8C in red.

I always loved this exact Porsche, too, for its treadbare elegance. This is a PERFECT picture.

And, actually, I think the DS looks horrible when it isn't aloft, but it just looks fantastic when it is. I guess I'm still thinking it looks like a stupid modification, instead of a factory setting. Either way, it's not a shape that looks good when low. But when up, brilliant.

And, by the way, THIS is how you teardrop a car:

I've always found the very earliest 911s more "beautiful" than the more modern ones, but I see where you're coming from with the 996 - many don't seem too keen on it, and even I don't find it as nice to look at as a 993, but it's a very clean and modern design, even now.

I fell in love with this exact car when i was browsing Netcarshow.com Lamborghini Lp710 Edo Edition

Then i came across this and thought it was a kick ass concept and it really should be made into a production, The Stingray Concept

Then you have one of my most favorites cars ever... 1968 Chevrolet Camaro (however i would choose a black Camaro, with a carbon racing stripe.... i have a whole design scheme should i ever rebuild one)
