chevy DID make a silverado 1500 crew cab. it was based on the 2500 chassis but was a crew cab 1500.

Jesus Christ, what have I started.

As far as I'm concerned, US-spec, I'm still ahead. "Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS" is a trim level. Beyond that, it's options. The bed and cab size are options. The vehicle isn't badged as the "4WD 4.8 V8 base extended cab long bed". Otherwise, I can come up with some other pretty long ones:

Isuzu Rodeo 4WD S 3.5 4-door automatic with preffered equipment package S, luxury package, appearance package, chrome package, sound package, color-keyed package, power sunroof, in-dash 6-disc CD changer, and alloy wheels.

God knows how many syllables that is.

The two other US model entries I saw that came close to V70 XC AWD SE were "Range Rover Westminster Limited Edition" and say what you will, but Range Rover is a make name. Not one person on Earth calls it the Land Rover Range Rover 4.6HSE, and if you do, you're off your gourd. There never was a 5.9-liter Orvis Grand Cherokee. And if there was, "point" wouldn't be two syllables. :p I believe Orvis was an option package rather than a trim level anyway, as the Columbia Edition and Freedom Edition were/are.

So, I'm off my 'gourd' huh? I either call it a 'Range' or a Land Rover Range Rover :dopey:

I think its called the 1500HD...

The four-digit number in Dodge and GM truck names and the three-digit number in Ford truck names refers to payload capacity. Consequently, "Heavy Duty" trucks are 2500 or 3500 for Dodge and GM, F-250 or F-350 for Ford and "Light Duty" trucks are 1500 for Dodge and GM, F-150 for Ford. So there's no 1500 HD.

It's akin to calling the Chevrolet Malibu the "General Motors Chevrolet Malibu." Range Rover makes just one product and even they don't call it the "Land Rover Range Rover." The only ones who do are the books who need to put it in alphabetical order.

There's already a hybrid Silverado?
Yup... Chevy's been advertising it for the past couple weeks. I was a bit surprised myself, since I hadn't heard any previous news about one.

Well, they announced plans a long time ago. I knew it was coming, but given the unbelievable fanfare surrounding the Ford Escape Hybrid, I figured it'd come with a little more publicity. That said, fuel economy gains are said to be only about ten percent - like 2mpg - so it's not quite as impressive as the Escape Hybrid.

Did you bother reading at all?

Well I have, all three pages of it 👍. I admit all the names mentioned on this forum are pretty long.

...Because the manufacturer's name isn't included... :dunce:

Technically it's still part of the name. I'll remember to not include it if I reply again .

As a sidenote: What's with the Buick "LaCrosse"? I don't get it because why did they use a name that advertises the sport of LaCrosse when they recently sponsored a golf tournament? "The 2004 PGA Tour, brought to you by the Buick LaCrosse!"

Yeah, but the point is that cars with long manufacturer names - BMW, Land Rover, Volkswagen, GMC - have the automatic edge over short manufacturer names - Saab, Jeep, Dodge. It's pointless. Don't count the make name and it's a contest between longest actual vehicle name.

Because "Golf" was taken. Buick also sponsors Mt. Rainier in Washington, Park Avenue in New York City, the Regal Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, the years 1900-2000, pre-historic tigers with huge teeth, and meetings between French people. 👍

It's also a much bigger truck, with much more utilitarian needs, so the gain is much less :indiff:

What's got you so ticked? That's the second time I've been critisized by you like that.

He's got a stick up his ass - but he's intelligent as ****, so we let him stay.

is it too much trouble to count em? most people have posted the syllable count with their offerings.

oh, and this is not me being ticked, in the least. just pointing out the obvious. and dispensing common sense.
