Huge crash at Curitiba in the Stock Car Brasil race today, I read that 2 drivers have minor injuries (I'm not sure what exactly that means since I know no Portuguese).

I could only see one white flag, were there more further back? If not then it's the stewards' fault, otherwise the drivers in that pack should be seriously reprimanded. Imo.

EDIT: Ah, @Whitetail seemingly agrees :)

Well, regarding what the commentators have said in the video, they haven't mentioned anything about injuries. Can you show me the article where you've read about the crash? I can translate Brazilian Portuguese to a decent degree, so I can help you with your doubts.

As for the crash itself, after seeing it, I have to agree with @Whitetail as well; the drivers behind Tiago could easily spot both the warning flags and the slow Chevrolet in the space they were trying to "defend" from other cars. I'm baffled seeing that regardless of these two things (flag and slow car), the other cars behind him were moving to Tiago's lane while defending positions.

I found some more information since I shared the link, Thiago Camilo and Felipe Fraga were the only drivers transferred to hospital but their only injuries are bruises, no broken bones :)

Fair enough, proves that those cars are safe. It was a nasty rear-end shunt for sure, and it happened twice to boot. Not the sort of impact you want to repeat more than once...

Please let me introduce you guys to the argentine stock car championship. Here its something natural but I often find some shocked by the way we use to live it here (mostly because of the people in the grandstands, its like a carnival there).

The grandstands:

The action and the (near death) commentary:

The sound (I was behind the CocaCola stand):

It's something unique, that Argentinian Stock Car championship. I don't really know how to describe, but if I had to, I'd say it's a madman's NASCAR, where no punches are pulled and the entire atmosphere is equal to a game of soccer. Personally, it's an incredible sight to see such a crowd; it seems to be the sort of passion that is displayed in a soccer game within any Latin American country. My own experience when I first watched a Mexican wrestling match (in video form) led me to that conclusion when it comes to crowds; it was unbelievable when first I saw the video and heard such a vocal crowd.

And after watching the Di Palma documentary (basically, the Di Palma family is stock car royalty and are treated as such in Argentina's racing world), I was equally amazed at the sort of racing that goes on this championship. It's simply insane how energetic and fast paced things are in this country...

Haha, that was certainly unexpected. Although it has to be said; it looks less like "stock car" and more like "Portuguese Demolition Derby". Regardless, I had no idea that these kind of races were held in Portugal. Also, Lousada is known for having slightly more serious racing, in form of the European RallyCross championship. So this is truly a "WTF" moment...

That could have been a hell of a lot worse. Also a pretty bad case of wrong place wrong time (for James and the helicopter).

He was there at the right time, the pilot of the Navy helicopter is simply a moron.

Yes, it does have to be asked; why was the pilot flying so close to the track? Indeed, it was not race time and the track was not thriving with people, but there has to be some common sense that tells people to avoid flying at altitudes where debris can fly away due to the rotor winds...

GP2 2007

A comical coming together by P1 and P2 teammates followed by a heartstopping crash later on.

Maybe De Jong should've taken the "Red Bull-sponsored car closing the door" as a cue to put on the brakes and drop back. He was trying to go for a gap which was no longer there...
