- You're crazy if you think
- I can afford either of these.
And a lock on my back window....
Two words: BODY COLOR
Get all that chome body color and ditch the regular rear bumper for a shaved one. Trust me, it will look freaking sweet.
Ewww. If it was a different color sure, but that blue won't look right completely dechromed.
I never thought of that, but now that you say it, I think that could look pretty classy 👍If you are going to start black out things completely you need to do everything or it looks odd. You could leave chrome trim around the grille and black out the centre.

How did you know you'd come in here and say to make it lower?
I'm still pretty torn between dropping the back 2.5 inches, or raising the front 2.5. Both lead to an even, not raked stance. Problem is I don't have the $$
Personally I'd lower the truck because it's 2WD and a 6-cylinder. Make it slightly sporty as well. You'd be surprised, if you do a proper lowering job, how much better your truck will handle.
Shackle kit will get me 2.5 inches down in back, but I'll have to get the leaf spring relocation kit thing, which like you said puts the leaf UNDER the axle, if I want to go lower. That's about $270 newI always forget Fords are weird with the rear suspension, you can't just put blocks on and have it lowered. When I dropped the Blazer I used drop blocks for part of the lowering process. Mine were slightly expensive because I bought them from Beltech but honestly AutoZone had them for $30.
I think Ford's require a shackle kit or if you really want to go extreme a flip kit which puts the axle over your leaf springs...but that would probably drop the truck something like 5" in the back.

FYI, my brother owns an '88 XLT Lariat with the 5.8L V8 so I know a bit about these trucks.
I'm surprised the specs of this thing weren't posted..?
-(300ci) 4.9L inline 6cyl (that's right an INLINE 6cyl engine) w/EFI (electronic fuel injection) = 150bhp 260tq
-3900lbs curbweight for the single cab short bed and 4200lbs for the extended cab short bed. And for the single cab long bed (mustang's truck) comes in at about 4100lbs.
On my title it says the truck is 3711 pounds.
So when you think about it the specs aren't that bad considering the weight and America's lack of power for the 80's and 90's. A simple intake, exhaust and ecu tune can make this truck not slow. Not really fast, but not slow either. And somewhere I found a supercharger kit for the 300ci I6 engine but searching for it just now I cannot find it.
Already has custom fab true dual exhaust, no cats, and headers instead of manifolds. I'm 1/3 the way there. I'll get the intake on it soon enough... Need a job
+1 Absolutely! Plus the I6 engine is lighter and has the weight more spread out so the front nose is less heavy which also makes the truck handle better than the V8. It would be awsome to hear what this 6cyl sounds like N/A tuned and maybe with some FI.👍
It's awesome to hear what it sounds like now
I would love to get one of these if I could find with low miles and the I6.

I just can't decide what I wanna do!!
Is 142k low miles to you? That's what I've got.
I think I'll go get an exhaust clip now... 😈

The black and chrome grill looks fairly ace! I'd go with that!
