The black and chrome go best with the rest of the trim if you keep the chrome bumpers and black/chrome side door trim.

I'm glad everyone feels the way I do. Once I get the wheels I'm gonna paint the grille, so if all goes well, around christmas time.

If all goes better, I'll get the job I just applied for, and have quite a bit of money by then :D

The MINI guys use something called Plasti Dip to paint their chrome parts, works pretty well I guess and is fairly durable. You might want to research that to see if it's what you want.

I was planning on just roughing up the surfaces, spraying an adhesion promoter thing, then hitting it with gloss black and clear.

That's what I used on the Focus chrome grille. Works wonders, and it helps insulate too.

I'll see what I can do. My mom and sister looked at me like I was crazy for wanting to video my exhaust LOL

Video doesn't do it justice sadly.

And sadly-er, nothing will do it justice for a lil while now. Battery died tonight. Granted, it was showing signs of dying, is 3/4 size of the recomended battery and is lacking 160 cold cranking amps, but still, I thought I had more time!

This goes in the record books. All 3 vehicles at this house have had their batteries die when I was driving them

Good news! My battery problem was a loose connection in the positive cable, 7 bucks for a new one and I'm all good now.

2nd news! My rear tank DOES work, contrary to what the previous people said. Apparently they put ~10 gallons in it, and it never registered, so they stopped using it. I imagine this was when the gauge stopped working. So I now have 2 functional tanks, and a conservative estimate of 7 free gallons of gas :D

Two functional tanks? My dad's old Ford had twin tanks and he could go almost 800 miles before he had to fill up and it was a bit, thirsty V8 from the late 70's/early 80's. With an I6 you ought to be able to go pretty far on twin tanks. Plus it will allow you to take advantage of cheap fuel.

The front tank is throwing me for a loop. It should be 19 gallons, but I can never stuff more than 14.7 in it even when getting the vapor lock thing for the first 5 gallons. The front was replaced, and I'm thinking that was by a ~15 gallon tank. The rear should be a 19 gallon tank, but I really don't have the money right now to fill both and see where I stand 👎

I'm getting an average of 16.5mpg :sly:

That's odd, it would be lame if you were short changed on the tank. 40 gallons of fuel would be pretty awesome, especially on long hauls.

And 16.5 out of a truck from 18 years ago isn't that bad. You could probably even get it up to 20 if you really did some careful driving. I know I was surprised with the Blazer when I did really careful driving. I could easily get over 20 opposed to the ridiculous 14-17 I'd average normally.

Alright here goes. My mom's been bugging me for a christmas list, so I started on it :D

I started with my stereo, because it desperately needs improvements. Here's my ideas

Head Unit

Component Speaker system

Kenwood 4ch amp

That's the basics. Then in the future I plan to add a sub, and a mono amp for the best power to it. What do you guys think? See anywhere I can improve? I'm trying to keep the price down, but get pretty good stuff. My aiming point in this little project is the Mach 460 stereo in a 2004 Mustang. I want to be better than that, and I'll be happy

Got room for a 2-DIN radio in there?

If so... Mach 460 HU GET. :p (or other OEM Ford HU, they work well and don't break)

Or hell, blockoff or stock HU in the dash and hide it in the glovebox.

No room for a double din, and one of my buddies HATES the 460 HU and system 'cause you can't just throw new speakers at it. Also, my glovebox is pretty much unreachable from the driver seat by me :p

Also, changed the amp, found the goodness of ebay, and the one up there is easily had for $120 there

So today, Took off my spare thinking it was causing my squeeking. 3 hours later, with a few cuts, bruises and a bunch of headaches, the spare was only SOMe of the squeeking.

First my exhaust pipe was in the way of where the tire iron goes to lift the carrier thing, used the jack to hold that up. Then the eye bolt wouldnt turn far enough - eventually just kept yanking on it with the tire iron in the hole. That was an hour there. Got the tire off. And then tried to fully take the hanger off. Nope that doesnt work, the bolts are rusted together and in a spot I can't get ANY leverage on, so I put the hanger back in, ghetto rigged it with some bike brake cable protector rubber things, tied to the bumper to make it stable, and we're good.

3 hours to do all this. WTF?! I'm just glad I didn't find this out the hard way on the side of the road!

Tire iron in the place it's supposed to go to lift the support up a little to get the eye bolt out. As you can see, I can't lift due to my pipe there...

After about an hour with the tire iron thru the hole in the eye bolt, I got it to go thru the hole needed to get the support off. That was REALLY trying. And not even right, the bolt is supposed to be rotated 180 degrees from where it is

there's a nut up there somewhere I was trying to get off that would have saved me from the tire iron in the eye bolt dilemma

How I lifted the spare support, because the tire iron couldn't go where it needed

My 18 year old spare rim/tire, complete with all the dirt.

Got the wheel cleaned, and found it rusted... Tire still looks basically the same even after pressure washing :scared:

The nut for the second drop bolt thing. This one didn't have an eye bolt, and I couldn't get the nut off, so I had to hang the spare holder back up :( I didn't want to

How I stabilized the holder without the tire. I knew my old bike brake cables would come in handy sometime! No, you can't see how ghetto rigged it is until you're underneath it 💡

Gotta find someone with a plasma cutter, or cut-off wheel! You're better off just sticking the spare in the bed (in fact, LMC truck has the parts to bolt it up in the bed).

Yeah I wanna get those damn bolts out of there. I have no use for the underbody holder 'cause it's too much work. The tire is currently chillin in the bed. I don't think I need a bolt up thing for it, it ain't goin' nowhere lol
