It's just like a (very dirty) thing to sit on in the bed now, right next to the backseat cushion from that '87 bimmer...

I've never liked the way some of the late 70s early 80s thinking was applied to domestic vehicles. This is part of why I don't like american cars/ trucks.

Some of the "engineering" was not just lazy, but bordering on offensive.

I'd agree. One of my major headaches is not fords fault though, I have an aftermarket exhaust, exits in a different location for the stock exhaust. But without the spare the carrier would swing if I didn't tie it up.

In summary, I agree, it's an overall stupid concept

But that concept exists on the newer trucks as well. my dad's 99 1/2 F-350 has its spare under the bed with the carrier too. He also has an aftermarket exhaust[among other various aftermarket things too] but it exits out the side. If you can get the spare tire holder assembly out from underneath the truck do it asap so you dont have to wonder about your ghettorigged thing falling apart while driving.

It won't fall apart. The ghetto rigged part is a stabilizer. It would swing and hit my pipe if I hadn't rigged it.

Exhaust, gives me so many headaches, but as soon as I turn the key, I forget all about them :D

EDIT: I don't have trouble with the spare under the truck, it just doesn't make sense to me to make it a hard thing to get off

1. Go to junkyard.
2. Find a Bronco.
3. Remove spare tire holder swingarm and etc from rear quarter and tailgate.
4. ????
5. Profit.

I'm not putting the spare back under... ever. It can chill in the bed, and make me look like I'm always using my truck :D

I'd find a bronco just to find a bronco. I love those trucks, just couldn't justify 12mpg highway

I'm not saying put it back under, I'm saying put it on the tailgate mounted swingarm from a Bronco. ;)

As demonstrated

It looks fitting on the bronco, but I think it'd look a little weird on just a tailgate, ya know?

I'm opposed to them. The way I see it, unless it's a soft/hard tonneau cover, it has no reason being on a truck. If anything I'd like to get a soft one, but at the same time, it'd be a pain, because I spent a bit of time just relaxing in the bed with my friends

Understood, yeah same here. I don't think they look good. And some of them look vaguely like Chi-Mo vans. 👎

Cheers

Once you throw a cap on it, you might as well have bought an Expedition with no rear carpet. IMO

Creeper trucks! :scared:

I think it'd look alright, I've seen Broncos with the rear cover off and it looks pretty decent anyway.

EDIT: Although apparently this is all irrelevant as F-150s don't have the reinforcement needed for it to work.

But a bronco with the top off is still obviously a bronco. They've got that different B-pillar, and are the equivalent of a short bed F150

1 garage sale and 8 dollars later, I have my 3rd speaker setup in the whole 7 weeks I've had my truck

Front speaker:

Rear speakers:

They're from a surround sound system, sound pretty good too. All I gotta do now is get a little more speaker wire so I can run some from the driver side rear speaker. It's only hooked into the signal from the passenger side right now.

I was always told never mix car and home audio. Still, when you have nothing else, in a pinch it works for a while, at least until the voice coil melts. You'll get more than what you paid for them so long as you aren't trying to blow your windows out.;) Take it these either have integrated subwoofers or are they "support" pieces to the sub?

Cheers,
Jetboy

Those are my only speakers. I have no subs. Hell, I don't even have speakers in the doors where they should be

I figure for 8 bucks I've got nothing to lose, as it sounds better than my last setup anyways

Well, what I meant was that these surround speakers have either a sub built into them, or they're accessory speakers, and the sub would be a separate entity. Apparently these are just support bits. What's the make?

Cheers,
Jetboy

They say KLN on the grilles, so that's my guess. According to someone on another forum, this was the cheapest 3 speaker surround system from 1997  'Bout $99 then.

I wish I had gotten a sub with it, that'd have made my day!

Stock '91 F150 4x4 with 33x12.50x15 tires, on 15x10 wheels.

That's my goal stance. I just need the tires, wheels, and a front leveling kit OR front springs off a 4x4 truck I believe

Here's something you could look into: 1.5-2" Lift for 2WD F150
Here's some leveling springs from LMC, still fairly expensive.

You would of course have to remember to get an alignment for the front end.

Coils from a 4WD truck won't make a difference since they used the same coils as the 2WD truck.

If they used the same coils, why the hell does a 4wd sit 2.5 inches higher up front than my 2wd. Dang it Ford!

FYI, any anger it seems is in the previous statement is not directed towards you.

I'm looking to leave the back the same height. Just raise the front about 2.5 inches for a level stance and to fit the 33's

It's possible your coils were heated up to be lowered, are lower than stock, or have simply sagged over the years. I just got the notion of the same spring height from LMC Truck, since they have the same part number for the 2WD and 4WD coils.

Maybe. I'm not sure :(

I know that 2wd drive trucks are 2.5 inches lower in the front, and the same height in the back as the 4wd versions, so that's why I ask. My springs are right about where they should be

Well perhaps they used the same coils, but set up the geometry and placement of the parts differently. So essentially you would then want the leveling springs (recommended), or leveling blocks such as these.
