My GT5 has been dispatched

Amazon UK have dropped the ball with this one although they reckon I'll get it tomorrow on 25th November. Not great when you order the £60 collectors edition 3 months in advance and pay extra for release day delivery

Had an email from them at 5pm yesterday saying "As per your e-mail I understand that you would like this item “Gran Turismo 5: Collector's Edition (PS3)" to be delivered on the release date, November 24, 2010, as promised on our website. I have checked your order and I am pleased to confirm that it has already entered the dispatch process."

Another one at 1.25am this morning saying "We regret to inform you that the following items have been delayed: "Gran Turismo 5: Collector's Edition (PS3)" - Estimated arrival date: November 26 2010 - November 29 2010 - Your account will be credited with the amount that you have already been charged for shipping for this order. This refund should be processed within the next few days, and we will send you an e-mail to let you know when the refund has been completed."

Then another one at 5.20am this morning saying "We are writing to let you know that the following item has been sent...Dispatched via Royal Mail (estimated arrival date: November 25, 2010)."

I think they've charged me twice including the chuffing release day postage :mad:

Yesterday I order the CE from BestBuy.co.uk which was £12 cheaper aand they estimate delivery on 25th so Amazon will be getting theirs returned for a full refund including postage costs. I don't usually slate retailers they deserve it this time, I won't be using them again for any release day products :grumpy:

Hopefully see you all on track tomorrow!

Fingers crossed that the majority of the play.com ones arrive in the uk today!!!!! Time to send the wife a long text explaining how to install games on the PS3 so it's ready for when I get home.

Didn't want to pay for the extra 1 business day postage so was worried that it wouldn't get delivered today for release so decided to get it delivered to store for me to collect. I was hoping it would be sent on Monday so it arrives in store Tuesday so I can pick it up anytime today but according to the delivery tracker it is still waiting to be delivered to the store so I can't go and get it until it shows as being delivered, very annoying! Frustrates me that you preorder something for ages then anyone can just walk in off the street and pick up a copy sooner than you can.
 
Mines en route from Kettering via Citilink. That was at 1am this morning, hopefully it's in y area about now. Time to wait downstairs for the deliveries to come in :)

Got the postage money refunded as they promised to deliver release day but on the 22nd my estimated delivery date magically appeared as the 25th so when i upgraded to 1 day business post the estimate was 24th !!

Now the tracking is a joke its Royal Mail but you can check the status on Amazon or RM Track and trace and heres what they have both said since yest morning

Order has been handed over to the carrier and is in transit - Nov 23, 2010 6:26:13 AM

Whats the point in having tracking if it doesnt get updated???

So now i'm not sure if i'll get my collectors edition today.



EDIT: oh and just to add i also pre ordered well in advance (6th September) and yet there are plenty guys who ordered the CE from amazon just last week and had it yesterday.

I will never use amazon for a pre-order in my life again

I've had this issue with amazon for every game. Never get a game on release day on them, since release day is usually a Friday, I sometimes don't get the game until Monday. I suppose it depends where you live.

Play.com seems to be release day with no issues for me, Game (assuming they don't use ParcelForce, like today) is usually the day before release.
 
Well just in Case Amazon screwed up I went out and Bought a Standard Edition last Night .

Just Checked with the Shipper who is Delivering my CE/PS3 Bundle its now at Bristol as of 6-07am , thats only 35 miles from me so Hopefully i'll get it today

Wish everyone here luck getting theres A.S.A.P 👍
 
Im so happy :):):)!

My CE was dispatched at 1am from somewhere about 150 miles away so I'd hope that I shall have it when the mail is delivered today :sly:.

Please Mr Postman....pleeeeeeeeeease! :nervous::nervous::nervous:
 
I'm sitting, waiting for my postman to come, hopefully he will have my standard copy from Play.com!

Every other game i have ordered from Play has arrived on release day, so fingers crossed.

You got it on the release day then? Don't know why this manifests as a failing on Play's behalf...

The SE I'm babysitting was apparently at the local depot at 3.06am and put on the van at 8.44am, so I'll be having a red card pushed through my letterbox today to say he "attempted to deliver" because, despite me being in all day and both cars being in the driveway, all Arselfarce ever do is put a card through the door and run away (same with InterCityLink, upon whom I won't do an amusing name-corruption).
 
I still want to know what attempted delivery actually means.... I think Lee Evans came up with the best description of that!!!

In the meantime I have just picked up OPSM to see what they say about GT5 :)
 
My GT5 is currently further away from my house than it was yesterday according to the Amazon website, but apparently this means its going to arive sometime today, lets hope so.
 
I managed to get hold of a copy from an independant yesterday incase play.com never came through with a release day delivery. Will still let you know when I receive it, gonna post it to my mate who is a bit skint at the mo, looking after a new baby, I know how he feels so he will get a little suprise in the post, how nice am I? :)

At my end, Parcel Farce tend to just leave things on the doorstep, I once even found my parcel in the recycling tub by the road...

Checking on their tracking website, my SE was loaded onto a truck for delivery very early this morning, apparently 1.23 am.

We got one once which said the parcel had been left in a safe place - "by rear wheel of Honda".

Brilliant.
 
Well my doubts were proven wrong as my game just arrived !

Actually just checked tracking and still hasnt budged oh well no need now :D
